  • @brianbranham1977, I am truly sorry for your loss. I'm sure it feels as if it was just yesterday cause it pretty much was! Grief is not a lot of fun, I agree, but we need to use our grief and spin it to a positive for our loved ones that have passed as this is what they would have wanted for us, to be happy....and not sad, God bless you amigo!

  • Had this in my head all day. Must be five years since I last heard it. Serendipity?

    Beautiful. Thanks.

  • The harmonica is so fucking goooooooooood

  • I was 10 years old when I bought this album from the money I got from my paper round and to this day I still have that album. I would listen to it as often as I could get my turn with the record player and it was because of this album that my dad bought me my first guitar. I had it for 35 years but sadly it was stolen from my car and I never got it back. It's sad because it was the only thing my dad ever bought me. This album brings back lots of memories, yeah lots of memories indeed.

  • @celticlofts This man, Neil Young, reminds me of my dad and has since I can remember. I recently lost my dad and now this music reminds me of my dad on a whole other level. I feel you!

  • @guerraedub i just went through the same thing. he died dec 1. old man does this to me. god bless you friend. i think grief is the most painful thing of all time.

  • Only Neil could write and perform such a classic tune. Love this tune!!! :)

  • It's weekend, I'm lonely...so it's time to go out. Thanks Neil!

  • now thats music

  • WOW this one takes me back "she's so fine she's in my mind" :) wow there will never be artists such as those of the 'Baby Boomer' generation Its the one non-regret I will always have from growing up in the 60s n 70s ;) God Bless all of them as they slowly pass away from this life Neil (stay forever 'YOUNG) and Stay strong and play long my friend in REAL music PS You and Bruce..in regards to your 'LABEL' You were one of the few with REAL BALLS!!!!!! and that just made your music sweeter!!!! ;)

  • Perfect album!!

  • lol Just realized lady gaga did her own little version of this song at the beginning of her song, fooled me again, honest eyes. It's pretty cool that Gaga's a Neil Young fan and rock and roll fan in general!

  • The song that made me fall in love with Neil Young!

  • even the harmonica intro to this song gives me goosebumps.

  • Great song, its ashamed he's a fucking commie liberal.

  • @77ssromeyss YOU are the fucking asshole in question. Enjoy the music and stop insulting people only because they have political ideas different from the shit your damaged brain is filled with. Signed : guido, a die hard Italian Commie and still proud of being such.

  • @171XY679 Ben detto Guido. Signed Maurizio (A Commie too)

  • @77ssromeyss 'commie liberal' doesnt make sense, but 'dumb fuck' does

  • NO WAY I WAS BORN ON NOVEMBER 12THHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • @ch3ngaa fuck me one day off

  • @ch3ngaa A lot of people were...

  • @ch3ngaa Holy crap

  • A retard gene driven stream of caterwauling, unharmonic guitar screeching and high-pitched whining, more worthy of a transgendered trollop pushed into a gutter after swallowing gallons of cum from multiple wayward gentlemen enjoying a night of depraved abandon in several of the seedier establishments on the dark outskirts of the shining city on the hill.

James!! Scuttle your way to me quickly now, man!

Bag that cat Nelly Young tonight. Here's a stout bat. Beat the daylights out of her!

  • Because this is from the heart , this is f.. in everything american , love it , the best , there never has been nor will there ever be again anybody to lace neill youngs shoes ,he is numero uno , all americans love neill , but before you get too excited , rremember he aint american ,he is canadian , with a little bit of irish thrown in , Neill you rock man

  • gangsta

  • Why does this make me feel so humble? He's so good :)

  • one of the bedst album ever made

  • You all sound like exactly the people who were around when this song, and many of the other greats you mention. Nothing but hate to spew about the music being made in the present,in favour of that of the past. All you do is move backwards, when all those that you try to defend now, were trying to push forward. You should be ashamed, sickened with yourselves. To be so self-righteous in this, is to be worse than a zealot at his pulpit. I'm ashamed to bunch myself with the rest of you as a music lover.

  • @TheSalemW man! you said it all, all id hope is that all the people who read it, understood it.

but thats impossible either its a first century person or XXI guy.

  • great album!!

  • FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think im the only person at my highschool who actually knows and likes Neil Young.

  • but there are millions of them throughout the world ...

  • Let's just all sadly realize the truth shall we?

Music is dead. Lady Gaga does not make any sound that is proprietary.

Which, is kind of odd considering her "unique" look (not copied at all from gracejones/madonna/eltonjohn/davidbowie)

It really does make me sad though, mainstream today is little wayne.

Mainstream today is Gaga, or beiber.

Remember when mainstream used to be the Beatles?

    what the hell has happened....

  • why are people talking about lady gaga on the page of one of neil young's best songs? no one will remember lady gaga in twenty years, but this song came out, what, forty years ago now? she has NOTHING on neil young, and she shouldn't even be mentioned anywhere near him, EVER

  • takes me back to the good old times

  • @SLEG1100 sitting here with the same feeling

  • she 's so fine, she 's in my mind!

  • Beautiful song <3

  • Comment removed

  • boy if I had a nickel for everytime I said "you know? neil young really sucks"....... Well I would have no nickels at all :'(

  • my first neil young album, 1978 christmas morning.. listened to it a thousand times over! had to put a dime on top of the worn out needle of the turn table ... many years ago, but i remember it well.

    .

  • Neil is the king

  • I could listen to Harvest all day long... Makes you appreciate everything....

  • Das e stemmig muziekske

ma nu moet ik wel zeggen, sammy, ik ben zo meer voor den alternatieve muziek. New wave en zo. De jaren tachtig, da was echt...

Kunnen we gewoon naar de muziek luisteren, Alain?

  • PICK UP FOR SALE....

  • "Harvest" 1972 is one Young's best solo albums. With Ben Keith, there is some great steel guitar here too. Neil's voice is pretty good in the studio. Overall my only favored album over this is "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere". This is definitely best acoustic album, without wailing on "Old Black".

  • "Harvest" 1972 is one Young's best solo albums. With Ben Keith, there is some great steel guitar here too. Neil's voice is pretty good in the studio. Overall my only favored album over this is "Everybody Knws This Is Nowhere". This is definitely best acoustic album, without wailing on "Old Black".

  • Neil, thank you for being the sound track of my youth. Some day, somebody will make an album a significant as Harvest. But it will be a long time.

  • I'd like to see Lady Gaga cover "A Man Needs a Maid". That'd be rad.

  • @xbrendanx id like to see gaga die.

  • @xbrendanx dude, you have no right to even talk about that trash lady gaga here on this page... you dont understand and can never fully undertand the beauty to this song, and you want to see some TRASHY artist destroy one of neil youngs best songs... I agree with binkyslapass, why does everyone like todays generation of music, IT IS ABSOLUTLEY GARBAGE.... what is this world comming too?

  • @9apSfsa9 Wow you must be someone completely above the rest since your telling people their rights!

  • @chucky507 No one has those rights... including me... Bassicaly he is suggestion take one of the mose beautifull songs ever written and completely degrade it and turn it into todays trashy and disgusting music... Thats like walking up to your mother and father and slapping them in the face... -_-..... so enough with the rightousness ;)

  • I bought this album when I was 14. Used to play it on the family stereogram down in the living room before Mum & Dad got up. Had to take them a cup of tea to stop the complaints about the heavy bass on this track... Then once Mum had heard Harvest it was never a problem again. At the time I thought 'H of G' was the most wonderful thing I'd ever heard. Still love it, but Harvest is now what I love NY best for. Out on the Weekend not far behind!

  • @AccidentalSkydiver Similar experiences here. Brings back a lot of memories, some good some not so much.

  • call me crazy but this dont sound the same with out the needle noise on the vinyl woops just gave my age away.....takes me back to sittin in my room gettin high and using my mind.......miss those days

  • The beginning of this song sounds just absolutely awesome for a bar theme.

  • Another brilliant song. Love the steel guitar.

  • @Msdistarr yeah! Ben Keith will surely be missed.

  • neil young and hockey are the only good things to come from canada

  • @LegendaryEmu And your a fuckin yank. The whole world hates your country, congrats

  • @12321Walrus And I'm sure the rest of the world appreciates you speaking for them.

  • oh jah!

  • "Out on the weekend" inesquecivel e atemporal.Esse sim é o cara!!!!!!

  • On topic: 5th time today I listen to this song. AWESOMESAUCE! :D

  • @bizonkhan Me too bro

  • It is quite simple. Lets give her 5 years, if at least one of her hits from the present sticks and doesn't wither away like every other mainstream BS, then she really has quality.

  • @bizonkhan

That's not entirely true. Madonna's crumby shit still plays on the radio, and she's got no fucking talent whatsoever.

  • What up America ...... So Fucking Proud to be a Canadian.

  • @KestrelKid1

Oh, yeah, thanks for Nickelback and that kid who looks like a girl. Don't get me wrong, I hate America, too. Just speakin' out against national pride, jk. All said and done, Neil fucking rocks. That's all that matters, lol.

  • I like watermelon

  • WOW THE 70S HOW COOL WAS THAT

  • Young was originally named 'Noel'. Angels are typically sexless, and, due to the Young family's new baby's withered scrotum and tiny testicles, the name was deemed appropriate. Uncle Young, engaging with baby Young as Canadian outback uncles often do, clipped baby Young's scrotum off and tossed it and the vestigial testicals to the hogs the Young Family kept about the grounds of their Canadian homestead. He thought he was doing baby Young's future boyfriends a favor. He succeeded.

  • @FuckngBastard no, you dooly.

  • @FuckngBastard w-w-what...!?

  • Ms Nelly Young's Uncle remembered her as a particularly dour and sullen child. He resented her plain appearance. That his extracurricular activities effected Nelly's voice is obvious. Uncle Young can share inadvertent credit for Nelly's distinctive, high-pitched yowling He mistook Nelly's withered scrotum for excess labial tissue, so he clipped it off - creating a castrato Luddite minstrel from an androgyne genetic Neanderthal throwback. Ah, the vagaries of life.

  • what does he mean by:

"buy a pick-up and take it down to LA"

does he mean a camper van ? or is he just saying I'll buy a car and drive to LA?

  • @ereignisfelder pick up truck.

  • @ereignisfelder pick up truck......4x4

  • @binkyslapass1 thanks. was nice talking to you XD

  • 0 Dislikes i guess youtube hasnt gone totally down the drain

  • Neil Rules!!!!!

  • Lady Gaga has "Redeemed" the "Artist" Field - excuse me.... I would most CERTAINLY like to pack a pick up and start a brand new day - at Least Lady Gaga is TRYING - better than US - LOL!!!

  • Lady Gaga is an ass hole from NY why you didnt know that LOL

bythe way what a cooooooooooool song from Neil

  • Thumbs up If you think this is the best Harmonica-guitar-vocal song ever made !!! And will be forever...........

  • @josephkavalakat I much prefer his melodic straight harp style to the clichéd cross harp riffs you get in most rock and blues.

  • @skillisme same here.....I like Neil over Bob just because of his style...Bob's vocals & harp doesn't join in much sometimes .....

  • @josephkavalakat one of, yes. Neil young has a few of those in that category imo :P

  • @josephkavalakat thats not the harmonica you retard its the bass

  • @Perniciousdeeds .....

  • @Perniciousdeeds TROLL

  • @sydneyxerin touch my wang

  • Memories...... Like fingerprints slowly lifting up, greatest singer/song writer of the 30 years, thanks Mr. Young for a lifetime of music and memories

  • As big a Neil Young fan as there is and this song is @ the top of the list of phenomenal songs that hes written/sang. Neil, if you ever read this, thanks for a lifetime of songs to get by with my man!

  • kultstatus...

  • Great !!

  • 0 dislikes : ) There's a very good reason for that!

  • pedal steel ftw!!!! Love this album

  • Can't relate to joy. He tries to speak and... can't begin to say. FUCK YES!!!

  • I think this song is a true story about Neil moving down to Cally from Canada in the 60's.......AND how bout the "Long may you run" song about an old Edsel he probably owned?

  • @burtwiser85 he actually done the trip down in an old hearse.

  • @burtwiser85 Cali* Sorry, it just looks funny.

  • I think this song is a true story about Neill movin down to Cally from Calgery in the 60's

  • Neil's music never gets old. Truly a masterpiece

  • "The woman im thinking of she, loved me all up....but im so down today"

  • I liked this song the first time I heard it.

  • One of my all time favorite Albums. So down to earth. I feel so bad for the artists of todays music, they don't write or sing songs with this kind of passion.

  • I am dedicating this song to my good friend, Mark. No one could cover Neil Young like.Mark. God bless, brother. Your voice will always be the voice I hear when I play this song . Hope God gives you a Martin like the one you had here on earth!

  • I'm time travelin'..........ya'all or you'ins

    peace

  • Does anybody else hear that weird sound after he says "begin to say" at 2:03

  • @curtisisadog I hear it , After spending many hours in the studio I can tell you the sound you are hearing is the body of the guitar bumping the mic that is being used to mic the guitar. eh It happens I think Young just left it there because of it's imperfection that or its so minute he felt no one would notice. I have had numerous copies of this LP/Cassette/CD since 1974 and I had'nt noticed it before. Good Ear amigo!

    Blessings, Warren

  • @curtisisadog ya that was the sound of his shifting towards his harmonica strap. the mic picked up the off-sound

  • It's the chorus that's iconic (not just "See the lonely boy out on the weekend" but "the woman I'm thinking of, she loved me all up....") but the first line is what drags you in ("Think I'll pack it in, and buy a pick-up...")

    or is it vice-versa?

  • Why the hell is Lady Gaga a suggestion at the side of this video!?! AAAUGHH!!!

    *throws computer out window*

  • Comment removed

  • @needianame Uh you do know Lady Gaga actually sampled this right for ''Fooled Me Again''? Anytime an artist samples a song, their likeness will appear on the side of the sampled song.

  • @needianame because she made a piano cover/her own version of the song

  • @needianame for the record, Lady Gaga happens to be truly talented, an excellent musician and songwriter. She is as well one of the few artists in her genre of music who does justice carrying on the true rock n roll torch. Keep your computer.

  • @rockndrums13

ya those great lyrics "pa-pa-pa-poker face"... She thinks she's freddie mercury... umm freddie could actually write a tune.. she sucks on the piano, and the fact people think she's good at it, merely proves most people can't play the piano.. or have ever listened to a good piano... I'd rather listen to neil throw up into a harmonica... that would have more musical merit than lady gaga's "talent"...

  • @needianame I wouldn't suck Lady Gaga dick

  • @needianame because its a neil young cover dont be so dramatic

  • Comment removed

  • @needianame LOL she covered a bit of it,and she did it PERFECTLY!

  • @dDonaaxRocks not at all..completely ruined the melancholy feel to it. covers rarely ever do anything but change the song. but ive seen rhcp do a decent neil young cover, and radiohead a few

  • @dDonaaxRocks Nowhere near perfect at all, she completely missed the naive innocence that Neil sings with, Gaga flattened a beautiful harmony by trying to prove she can sing without a computer.

  • @needianame she made a cover but it killed neil

  • @molelikeshole Let's just be appreciative that she introduced some Neil to her legion of drones.

  • dear BEATIT696969 did it have flashng lights????

  • @eagyl wtf you talkin about nigga

  • mysterious noise at 2:03

  • @BEATIT696969 wow, i must have listened to this song a thousand times and I've never caught that. Good ear.

  • signori non si mischiera mai l'acqua con l'olio !!! usare il sinth. è fare musica nel 2010 si ascolta nella radio per 3-4 mesi poi si butta nel cesso !! questa è musica di 40 anni e ancora si distingue !!
