my kittans and me always have bath war i bath them 1 a month cause i have a house full of germapobs or something like that and there nails are like nifes
@mourkos There are certain times where it isn't healthy for a cat to clean itself. Like in this video, the can rubbed against a bike chain, getting grease all over it. Personally, I wouldn't want my cat to lick grease off of itself.
I bath my cats at LEAST six times a month. it goes well for me, but they ARE show cats so I've been bathing them since they were VERY small. I'll have to try the traction thing though. I just hold my cat's by the scruff when I wash them it's very effective.
there is only one way to bath a cat, that I have learned, wrap a board with a towel, and place it in the tub for the cat to cling too, they hate not being able to get traction, and that really really makes a differance
Did you get a tetnus shot after that? Ha ha, Glad you got him clean, he is very pretty. This video made me laugh. You might want to use rubber gloves if you ever attempt to clean him again.
If he fights THAT hard every time, try using a wet cloth before shampooing and only go through the torture when getting the shampoo off. I hope that helps.
omg hahahaha! I can TOTALLY relate to this video!
I gave my kitty a similar bath one time, (she was white) and shortly thereafter, she went outside and rolled around in dirt!!! I didn't bother to bathe her again.
I own 3 cats. 2 of them have both their front and back claws and trust me I know. Its a battle. The cats never get hurt or anything, their just very loud and their pride gets hurt.
I come of of giving all 3 of them a bath with more scratches than you can imagine.
Bath tubs are the way to go.
I'll be putting some videos up of my 3 boys (cats) getting their baths.
wow...at the start of that vid it doesnt supprise me the girl got done by the cat. Get a bigger tub (baby bath or hand wash tub) and actually hold the cat. Less stressful for all involved if one holds and the other lathers up, instead of messing around with the video camera.
They do. When my cat was around 10 years olf (God rest her soul, as she passed away last summer), she got skunked and actually cooperated for the 8 hours the tomato juice bath Mom and our neighbors gave Natasha to get her clean.
there is catnip scented dry cat washing stuff!?? i shall investigate that one...!
having said that, monkey rubbed himself against my bike chain about two months ago and needed another bath... and he didn't even bat an eyelid this time! perhaps he was just in a bad mood cause we were filming!? ;)
That was unproffesional. When you bath a cat, you need do it with one hand. Second hand, you use to grab skin on cats neck. This prevent cat from escape and this way you want harm cat, and cat won't harm you. And sink isn't best place to do it. Still, I find this movie quite amusing ^^
Wtf, you mean you are *not* using body-armor to bathe a cat? If I *have* to give my cat a bath, it's heavy gloves, wrist guards, heavy shirt/old coat, heavy jeans, shoes, and for @#$% sake use the bathtub and talk them through it as you go and help them try and be more calm. Use body-armor, it's less struggle all the way 'round. And yes, trim your cat's claws once or twice a month. Bathe a cat if you HAVE to only.
# 1 Trim the cats claws on all 4 feet first to aviod getting scratched.
# 2 Don't try it in the damb sink LOL. Give cats a bath in the bathtub , it's deeper , theres nothing for them to grip on to and you have betetr control.
# 3 I put a small dogs choke chain around the cats neck and secure it to the fawcett with a leash giving him enough room to basically sit or stand, this way when he pulls and fights he chokes and that makes him stop.
# 4 Now your in business , he aint going anywhewre
Actually guys, please don't use a choke chain on a cat. Cat's skin has a very strange quality in that if it's pierced (like from a small scissor incision, or spike from the choke chain), it very easily continues tearing, and so your cat could very easily bleed to death. Hence even cat groomers use electric shavers and nothing sharp.
Hehe, you had the right idea when you had Monkey by the nape of the neck. With my kitties I grab the nape and hold it to where they're comfy but if they move ever so slightly they're muchly uncomfortable. They quickly move back to the comfy position. 8)
I have one cat that Freaks at bath time and the other walks around in the tub while trying to drink his way out of it. Totally different attitudes makes for interesting bath times. 8)
You don't wash a cat in such a small sink. Use a bathtub. They can't get away if one person stands at one end or you use the shower curtain to hold it back when it jumps.
Yes we've learned our lesson. Monkey was bathed again (for the first time since this video actually) a couple of weeks ago... and just sat still in the tub till we were done. Bless his furry little soul :)
I gave my oldest cat (18 in people years, about 113 in cat years. Surprisingly he could still walk and etc at that age) a bath and he kept trying to get out but I just pulled the shower curtain in front of him and he was unable to get out cause he was to stupid to go under it. But one morning we woke up he was unable to stand or walk. He died that day about noon. I miss him.
me too. Every time! My roommate still has scars from the time we bathed my kitten, with disastrous results. lol now I get the nails under control first!!
he looks and behaves like my cats.... i haven't attempted to bathe them yet (they're only 6 months old and do quiet well keeping each other clean) but once one of them jumped in the bath tub with me and absolutely freaked. he didn't come in the bathroom for a month.
hehehe my cat looks exactly like yours. I put him in a bath tub with just a bit of water, and just washes him with a small tower. This way I can hold on to him.. I find that he's really scared of the sprayer. But yeah, my cat's really clean and he doesn't smell at all.. so we just give him 2 baths per year.
Hi. What i did was confine my cat in the bathroom. Use the hose that can reach every corner of the bathroom and then spray. He will be darting around the bathroom. But since the space is small.. it does not require too much work and u dun get scratches. U can apply soap on her body first then spray as she runs about.
You shouldn't have standing water in the sink. You should start out using the spray hose. Get the cat wet, shampoo, then rinse and blow-dry. I've done this with my cats and they don't freak out like yours did, because I wasn't freaking them out by placing them in standing water.
Spray hose would have freaked him out more! Think about it ... you're all comfy and dry then BAM! you get sprayed with water... I have 5 cats, all LOVE the bath tub but hate sprayers ... we use a spray bottle to deter them from doing things that they shouldn't.
Yea the sink isn't a good idea. I don't like the bathtub either cause it hurts your back to lean over all that time, but if you use a sprayer it goes a lot quicker and you can control them a lot better in the bathtub. During the summer I take mine out in the yard and hose him down. He's so happy to be outside (he's a strictly indoor cat) that he doesn't even care that you're bathing him. Plus he dries off fast in the sun afterwards so he doesn't stay wet and cold for hours.
Best to clip the cat's claws first, have your bath water ready-I use the tub that way I can shut the door to keep the cat in just in case. Best to have everything laid out: shampoo, plastic cup for rinsing, towel, etc. I learned from my errors--been there!
My cat is a terrible washer, he only cleans one of two places. He seems to like water when I rub it on him, but I've never given him an all out bath. I think it's almost time to because he smells horrible xDD
Are you crazy !I have a Black European with yellow eyes too ,Fritz: I tried to wash it into the bathroom in an HALF INCH of water (no more!)and has been not so tragic!Only water and only in summertime!Poor cat!!
this cat looks just like my cat midnight and also who would do such a thing to a poor poor cat u cruel bitch and dont even think i will watch another one of ur vids punck... >=( never again will i ever read or talk/ watch a video of urs so affal
its so amazing how a sweet cat turns into the devil when place into water. My cat Lily trusts me with her life. She allows me to poke her in the eye, throw her in the air and even hold her by the front legs, she just looks at me and purrs and doesnt get mad. But when I gave her a bath when she became infested with fleas and she was too young to put flea medication on she left a hug scar on my right leg. Its been two years and that scar is still there.
yes absolutely, monkey will always keep his clawsies. i'm just not sure i approve of totally declawing cats. but i do trim his claws regularly now (VERY regularly) and make sure he stays away from water :)
Those people have no idea that cats just naturaly hate water: like the "cat bath hell" - they should have just declawed her.
Look, if it makes you feel any better, i have a cat and i do not bathe her, maybe my sister did 3 or 4 times, but thats only because of a saying: "curiosity killed the cat" - in this case, got it washed.not alot of space for 500 words max here but, since my sister no longer lives with us. the cat shed's.
So, whats better: that or giving a cat atleast 4 baths a yesr.
Pricks, this is an animal - unlike you smelly idiots it has got total control over its well being and hygiene, It does NOT need shampooing, you probably do its fur more damage by removing the natural waterproofing oils on it. You only bathe a cat if its soiled itself and is too old to deal with it. Look it up, you have the internet, use it for something useful rather than putting up crap like this, Twat!
my family have to take two of my cat bath once a week. Two people have to work togther. After the bath we give them wet food and a treat for being a good boys. i think u should do the same. And i think the bath tub is way better.
really depends on the cat as far as area goes, we had this issue w/ my cat in the tub. We put him in he jumped right out over us, tearing a chunk of my arm and doing the same to my brother's finger, and my cat is declawed.
i wash my cats sometime after i take a bath, and the way i bag for forgiveness is a can each to them of my vinna sausages and they forgive me

really depends on the cat as far as area goes, we had this issue w/ my cat in the tub. We put him in he jumped right out over us, tearing a chunk of my arm and doing the same to my brother's finger, and my cat is declawed.

It's OK to wash cats. But next time remember to clip the nails first. Good luck!

Poor kitty. And poor girl!
Although, to be fair, the sink was probably the worst idea for cat bath.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I used to get scratched by my cat as well when I tried to give her a bath. It sure is painful. haha Funny video.

That's the general idea of western humor - slip on a banana, hit a wall with your head, get scrached by cat... all of this is considered funny.
