  • @ParallaxDrums

Gather round my little elf, as I tell you a story of wonder, joy & amazement.

If you look above, you will see a muppet playing guitar. This, my son, is the great musical mystery of 2010 muppetsville express style gelato chiabatta bread critter sounds.

Travis Barker would step into this insane melange & throttle the stage with fireworks of upside down drumming galore extravaganza, du-luxe, enduro type pro am techno percussive musical virtuosity.

    Venezuelan drums?

  • @JoeJacari The great musical mystery of 2010 is fireworks and upside down performances. Because to me, that does not seem like music by definition. Im sorry, but playing single strokes in 200 bpm, while playing upside down, with fireworks shooting everywhere, is not music.

Plus, calling Metheny a muppet is like calling Travis a totem pole. He has wayyyyy to many tattoos. That just make him look like a huge tool.

  • @JoeJacari Lol no offense but you have to learn to troll less obviously, although people bit the bait. But these people aren't troll-experts, but I am LOL seriously take a course on trolling XD

  • where is the beginning of the tune?

  • guitarists fucking loving it

  • @ JoeJacari your ear is to listen travis barker...you have no sense of music!!! well, listen to your travis barker who moves his head up and down when he "plays"... and don't say anything negative again about this MUSICIAN!!!!

  • I'd take Antonio over El Negro any day.

  • Grandeeee!!! C'è anche Richard Bona alle percussini e voce.

  • notice his left foot.....

  • @wags155

My friend saw this video & said, "Pat Metheny looks like a Muppet and this drummer sounds like a bucket drummer on the streets of Chicago pan handling for some spare change."

I merely laughed and said, "Yeah, I know. Good call bro. Too bad these people don't get the sheer drum specialty of Travis Barker and his band Blink 182."

Then my friend started screaming, "The birds have no crumbs! The birds have no crumbs! The birds have no crumbs!"

    Neither does this drummer. Yoy!

  • @JoeJacari Obviously your friend and you are a bunch of musical know-nothings.... go back you your crack pipe, your blunt, or whatever else you've been smoking..

  • lol, @1:09, did someone get stabbed?

  • @JoeJacari hahahaha! xD....

    idiot! jajajaja

  • @JoeJacari seriously how could you say that. you stupid moron.

  • @JoeJacari Guatemalan?? hahahahaha you are toooo funny

  • @JoeJacari You are an idiot.

  • @JoeJacari First of all drumming's no competition, and second of all this video displays more independence, diversity, dynamics, a more complex time signature, and displays more advanced rudiments, than I have ever seen or heard Travis Barker, let alone most other rock drummers muster.

  • @skaterat121 danny carey's the only rock/alt drummer that could "compete" with this dude if you dubbed drumming a "competition" of sorts.

  • @JoeJacari obvious troll

  • si es muy bueno..solo que su estilo a mi la neta no me late...me late mas jorge lopez y su hermano alvaro lopez ....

  • @JoeJacari

    You listen to Blink-182.

I don't think you've got much room to say anything.

    2/10 for effort, try again.

  • @JoeJacari what the fuck is your problem man....

  • @JoeJacari Fail, everything you said, Fail

  • @JoeJacari You just failed so badly i just can't believe it.

  • @JoeJacari Are you... dare i say... MUSICALLY IMPARED!? All Travis does is beat the shit out of his drums. I bet the retard doesn't even know how to tune drums. He probably gets the midges that he locks up in his closet to do it. If i ask him what a paradiddle was he would more than likely say, "what kinda dope is that, is it legal?"

Oh Travis, Travis, Travis. How many drummers do you seize to amaze? NONE.. because the only people who like Travis are NOT true drummers.

  • @ParallaxDrums dick...travis was a marching band drummer before a kit player..i dont know if you've ever recorded drums before but working in a studio is pretty fucking hard..any drummer who can work in a studio environment and get things done right is ok with me..i have a wide spectrum when it comes to what i like in drummers but respect all musicians...especially ones who made it..travis obviously can play drums..i dont know if you can..but stop hating bro..both are good at "what they do"

  • @tony13fg Sorry, i admit i went a little overboard. But I have done 3 tracks for a friend in a recording studio, and its not too bad. But the drummers part is the hardest, because you're the one that needs to lay down the perfect track first. The thing about Travis that bugs me, is his ego... Playing upside down and at a fast tempo doesn't necessarily make you "the best"... Im sorry if you think otherwise, but i don't think he is all that great

  • @JoeJacari sorry dude but you are really wrong on this. the upside down thing is more about doing a show and getting attention he normally wouldnt get with his drumming (unless you like blink and stuff). So, if you maybe improve your musical abilities in your life, you will understand what everybody tries to convince you of.

  • Jesus fuckin Christ. I wish I had those skills

  • @slimmbob you do... all it takes is hard work and belief in yourself. PRACTISE!!!

  • Is that the man or what? Pat matheny was gettin it

  • how about horacio, sanchez, prieto and vinnie all on stage trading licks, I don't know if the universe could allow that much craziness in one spot, someones head would clearly explode.

  • 2:21 is where it's at!

  • Hey joey jordison.... just quit... juuusst QUIT :)

  • @ParallaxDrums good call bud!

  • @ParallaxDrums

    he doesn't bear joey mate

  • His technique is flawless, however, it just doesn't do it for me musically...it has to flow together nicely...Steve Gadd is one of my personal favorites.

  • what song is this?

  • Antlonio's got to be the best jazz contemporary drummer, just... no no, no words...

  • dude that is the biggest damn ride i've ever seen! what size is the biggest?, and is this the biggest one?

  • @xxxslayerxxx666 I cant get a good look at his ride,I use a 22" platinum ping ride...don't know if there are larger ?

  • having the interdependence to run that left foot on the cowbell the entire time is just incredible. that either takes a ton of practice or the gift of being born with a split brain. f-ing awesome!

  • a bad joke - i admit. And yes i might be a retard for bringing this discussion to the page of Antonio Sanchez's drum solo, and i thank you vgfreak0123 for calling me one! It just baffles me to know that many drummers believe that travis barker is nothing less than virtuosic. i have no doubt that this discussion about travis barker has been brought up before on this page because the truth is that although the two play entirely different genres, travis is NOT in the same calibur as the great AS.

  • Comment removed

  • @oriontooldrummer93 you're a fuckin retard lol

  • Hey here i can see Bozzio´s influence. In my opinion, Bozzio is more than a drummer, is an inspiration. No for his kit, i mean for his skills, techniques, and amazing groobs.

  • The drumming on the 3rd track on Avishai Cohen Trio + The International Vamp Band album by Sanchez is AMAZING. I recommend getting the album just for that.

  • Take that for a subjective opinion, why don´t you wake up and smell the roses dude, everybody in the jazz major leagues agree that he´s one of the best right now, so , one of two things, either he is one of the best , or we are all wrong and you are right..., I don´t know dude, I´m gonna go with what the critics and pro jazz musicians say.. and of course my hears too!

  • ....¨Since his move to New York City Antonio has become one of the most sought after drummers in the international jazz scene. He has performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in jazz¨..

  • Hey mr. EQsmooth, this is only a little fraction of Antonio´s review in drummerworld :

    Antonio Sanchez...

Three time Grammy Award winner Antonio Sanchez is considered by many critics and musicians alike as ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT DRUMMERS OF HIS GENERATION. Born in Mexico City on November 1st, 1971, he started playing drums at the age of 5 and began performing professionally early in his teens.

  • Pat said it best in an interview shortly after giving Antonio the drum gig:

..."I didn't know a drummer like Antonio had been born yet..."

  • I can't believe his head didn't explode!

  • O_O

  • I'll say it again. it is all subjective opinion. If you want to listen to Sanchez and say he has achieved what Bozzio has not, go for it. He is a great drummer but sayining he is better than Bpzzio is just stupid. Isrtaed reading MD before you were born. Those polls are as reader driven as American Idol. It is about likability, not technique. BTW, Metheny is boring.

  • Antonio is just being musical, common among great musicians. He keeps a beat based on the melody rhythm then decomposes the pattern to bring it into the solo structure.Antonio graduated Magna Cum Laude in Jazz Studies at Berklee and he applies what he knows.

  • He plays what Bozzio tries to achieve.

  • The speed of Dennis chambers, the independence of el Negro Hernandez, and the finesse of Buddy I personally think he´s one of the top 3 drummers in the world right now...

  • Your personal opinion is none of my business, whizz bag. Let's get ome intelligent comments going here.

  • Oh by all means please enlight us with what you call "intelligent comment..."

  • Ridiculous Terry Bozzio comment. This is not Bozzio's type of music & there should not be a comparison. I don't hear or see Chambers speed & I know that ranking drummers is lame. This is art not sport. There are no statistics so how is he one of the top 3 drummers in the world? I can name 3 I'd prefer listening to over Sanchez but that would be my SUBJECTIVE opinion. Who cares? I've seen Buddy live, twice. Sat doen & talked w/him. Nothing Buddy about Sanchez. Pat Metheny is simply done, boring.

  • Why is the Terry Bozzio comment ridicuolus?, nobody is talking about the music styles they play, but more about technique they have, both drummers have techniques that focus on great independence and fast chops among other things..so it´s totally valid to compare..

  • 2. You saw buddy live ¨twice¨? I´ve seen dennis many times, and I´ve personally taken lessons from Antonio you obviously have no idea, what he´s capable of , and what the top jazz players think of him...

  • Ranking is not lame, about specific things, Modern Drummer does it, those who don´t like ranking is probably cause they themselves don´t want to be ranked so you must not be very good at drumming, why don´t you post a video of you performing to see if you are even qualified for all that talking you do and how you disqualify other people´s opinions?

  • Yep, for sure.

  • @drumlatin antonio is nothing like dennis chambers or el negro.he might have speed but not the power,in fact my mind wonders when i watch him solo.i like him a lot,but he has no power.Tony williams was never fast like todays modern drummers, but he had power that no one can match. Its power that hits your insides,it transends what you hear.

  • @drumlatin Verissimo!!!!

  • @drumlatin I think you are right.
