  • i dont understand why you as a christian sing songs from non-christian...

  • What if it's a request from one of her fans?

Also, I think this song doesn't have any inappropriate words.. christians don't have to sing christian songs all the time..

I feel that it's unfair how outside people only judge and complain about christians and don't judge other religions..

  • don´t get me wrong, but you cannot say you praise the lord on monday and the next day you sing songs to entertain people...and in addition, i dont think christion should listen or sing non-christian songs. what is better? to have in your mind something like give me baby one more time (just an example) or words that can help your faith (and so on). sorry, i´m not judging, but if jesus could give everything for us...we cannot live on 2 ways

  • I agree with you. When I am on stage singing its not to entertain, but to enter into a worship experience with Christ, lead others into that experience and perhaps inspire others to begin following. I agree that if you are singing with purpose of "entertainment" in your heart that its not honoring to God; however - if, while I am worshiping the Lord, people take part in that Joy that overflows from His heart to mine, and the word they use for that is entertainment, than I am ok with that.

  • "I dont think christion should listen or sing non-christian songs" Its ok for you to believe that and to follow that in your life, however, I think you will agree that God convicts each person in accordance with His will for them. Some things are set in stone - commanded - non negotiable, but that are some gray areas that are not clearly defined. In those areas, we need to be careful to maintain our purity so we can hear God's voice.

  • The moment He convicts me to only sing "Christian" music, I will obey. That day has not come, and I honestly don't believe it ever will."give me baby one more time (just an example) or words that can help your faith (and so on)"I would encourage you to look at the words of this and my other posted songs carefully. This song in particular (in the context of the service)is addressing the Christian walk like a "blank page" that God begins writing His story on.

  • It encourages us to "release our inhibitions" to Him, to not be obedient to fear, but yo His love and grace.

"sorry, i´m not judging, but if jesus could give everything for us...we cannot live on 2 ways"

I would challenge you here. I do not believe that you are sorry because it sounds like you are defending what you believe in - which is a noble thing. Secondly, your words are very judgmental - but again - I believe they come out of a passion for Jesus.

  • I agree that we cannot live two ways - we cannot serve two masters. That we need to "die to ourselves" everyday. I am trying, as I'm sure you are.

But let God be the judge. Pray for me, we can never get enough. If my actions are from man, they will not succeed, but if they are blessed by God, you will only find youself fighting against Him.

So, take it up with Him, and pray for me. I will do the same.

    Love, In HIS name, Abbey

  • you may say its not a "sin" to listen or to sing, lets say "other songs" but one thing is sure: doing things which dont bring you closer to god, they may, no...i´m sure they will divide you from Him. but you know, it depends on you how close you want to be to god. however, another thing is that i dont think that songs from nonchristian artists can bring you in the true presence of the lord because it needs people who walk with the lord to write songs "for" the lord.

  • I also listened to songs from R. Kelly and so on, like "the storm is over", wonderful song, nothing to say, but he wants me to tell that "the storm is over" (or other artitst with similar songs) but the same man does videoclips with almost naked women...etc. you cannot take a nice song and use it for spiritual purpose, it is just not biblical. it may looks good, but it isnt.

  • like "you raise me up", i mean, no comment, wonderful song, but if i think of who has written it and for what purpose...what can I say...remain blessed and dont forget, the closer you walk on the "path" the better. people forget that it isnt that easy to live a life god wants yo to live. if you ask yourself: what would jesus do? what could you change...when i ask myself i can make a pretty long list of things i can change...ok..as I said...BE BLESSED :)

  • abbey is a good friend of mine, and i have been able to sing and perform with her many times. she is an amazing person, and i have never even come close to doubting her integrity or passion for Jesus. its not hard to tell that her heart is in the right place. i think that you are being judgemental and accusatory towards someone you don't even know. i also think it is completely innappropriate for you to question her faith or integrity based solely on your own personal convictions.

  • first...there is nothing ever mentioned in the Bible about songs getting saved...so there really arent "Christian" songs...and about using secular music in church...if the song can be directed upwards, then its fair game...

you mentioned R. Kelly and his song. Think of how many pastors were great at one time and helped bring hundreds and thousands of people to Christ...and then somehow destroyed their ministry. Everyone fails...don't judge them...

  • I remember this.

    you're amazing.

say hi to Kenny Nelson for me :]

  • omg wish i was there!!!! :,( wait is that a different campus? You're awesome, Abbey.
