I'm starting to realize that there are nearly no changes, this game runs off scripting just like arma2 did and even the animations look the same, yes the boat interacts with the waves but if you look the water doesn't interact with the boat, I know its work in progress but I get the feeling its just Arma2 with things added on. Show me something really new that makes the game feel more natural and not so clumsy and I'll take interest.

@theakillersand1 bullets dont drop as much as in bf3 or bc2. DICE did that so players would have a sense of scale while the maps were actually small. Also it took 5 minutes to figure out what you were saying...

Graphics are pretty much spot on these days but one thing developers never get right in war sims/games is the AI. No matter how smart they say it is when you get to play it is actually as dumb the average youtube comment.

I never really liked Arma/OFP. There's always something odd or unbalanced or just plain bad in terms of gameplay. I never played any of them online, and I know it's meant to be played on multiplayer but the campaingns never made me want to play it. Just looking at this video I'm already disapointed. He's engaging about 5 hostiles, not flanking them, just going in the opposite direction and he manages to kill, what, three of them without even properly taking cover. I miss Ghost Recon.
@bodyboystance2 I understand this is a tech demo, but ARMA main feature should be simulation of combat right? Why would they show the game when it's "main feature" is not already done? But you're right, they have plenty of time to fix it.
And I know that the singleplayer isn't even half of the game, in my time you had to play a lot in SP to be able to play the right way in MP. Are you saying that I should just skip the SP and just play MP? It's a good game, but campaing is crap. Is that right?
I love the arma series, I'm a huge fan of OFP and the games that led up to this one. But I have always had a problem with one aspect of these games, and ti just eats away at me, because they never do much to fix it. That is the cqb side of this game. Clearing houses, multi-story buildings and bunkers with cqb tactics is just terribly flawed. I really hope they do something to fix AI in close quarters because then they'd really have the ultimate war simulator.

@Gulleplutten987 The M39 chambers the 7.62mm round and at a range of 375m there wouldn't be any bulletdrop to account for at all. Also the game allows you to zero the rifle for various ranges. So at 375m you'd set the scope for 400m and aim a fraction below from where u want the bullet to hit to account for the difference of 25m. At a target range of 375m with a difference of 25m to the scope range it shouldn't make a difference to your hit quota.
those animation don't impress me. there should be animation when you pick up the gun, that old animation needs to be removed because you can clearly tell its from arma 2. the first person animations when running and the gun just magically centers its self so fast is old even bf3 has a better reaction when stopping and running.

@bodyboystance2 yes - its called the culminating point; the zenith of the bullets flight. If you are a sniper then wind will play a part but if you have to consider that with small arms then you are too far away

Ugh time for the first upgrade for my PC in five years. Minimum reqs will be montrous i'm betting. I mean I run ARMA 2 on MINIMUM and I have 8 times the RAM of a PS3 in my PC... anyone even whispering the word "console" must be high.
I haven't been a serious PC gamer for nearly three years now, consoles encouraged laziness! Seeing the footage of this is seriously making me consider building a new one though.
I'm glad to hear that they're making the interface easier to use and understand. ARMA 2 was a huge improvement over ARMA, but there was still a lot of menus to use, and it could be tough to remember everything. I'm a noob, I know, but hey, the easier the better.

@Gulleplutten987 The M39 chambers the 7.62mm round and at a range of 375m there wouldn't be any bulletdrop to account for at all. Also the game allows you to zero the rifle for various ranges. So at 375m you'd set the scope for 400m and aim a fraction below from where u want the bullet to hit to account for the difference of 25m. At a target range of 375m with a difference of 25m to the scope range it shouldn't make a difference to your hit quota.

those animation don't impress me. there should be animation when you pick up the gun, that old animation needs to be removed because you can clearly tell its from arma 2. the first person animations when running and the gun just magically centers its self so fast is old even bf3 has a better reaction when stopping and running.

@Sonofthefire4 OF COURSE there is bullet drop. Somehow that's a bizarre myth lurking around the videos.
In fact, Arma 3 features an extremely sophisticated ballistic modell. It takes in count the muzzlevelocity, gravity, air friction, drag, angle of impact and impact force for every single bullet. It even calculates penetration.
I think your problem is you don't know what "zeroing" is. In short: He is aiming higher to compensate for said bulletdrop;)

@bodyboystance2 yes - its called the culminating point; the zenith of the bullets flight. If you are a sniper then wind will play a part but if you have to consider that with small arms then you are too far away

@Sonofthefire4 That's why scopes have zeroing. Zeroing adjusts the scope, so that you don't need to aim higher than the target. It only works up to a certain range though.

I'm glad to hear that they're making the interface easier to use and understand. ARMA 2 was a huge improvement over ARMA, but there was still a lot of menus to use, and it could be tough to remember everything. I'm a noob, I know, but hey, the easier the better.

so, for example, instead of having M16 CCO, M16 ACOG, and M16 Ironsights variants, plus grenade launcher variants, you instead have M16 no launcher and M16 with launcher, and you add the scopes on individually?
