  • Maybe He got the tatoo before being a christian.

  • please don't throw the BIBLE it is GOD's WORD...and it is HOLY.

  • LOL!!! Tattoo cannot diminish one's faith! GOD DOES NOT CARE IF YOU HAVE TATTOO OR PIERCING AS LONG AS YOU BELIEVE IN HIM AND YOU FOLLOW HIS DECREES..

  • hope you come to isabela

  • love it

  • The bible is a holy book why he drop it just like that?

  • @jojorante i dont get it. it contains God's word but it IS a book. what matters is that you read it and apply it to your life, not treat it like God himself.

  • @jojorante it's not the BOOK that is HOLY, it is the WORD that is HOLY.

as said in 2 Cor. 3:6, The letter kills but the spirit gives life.

  • @latebloomer09 even so , he shouldn't do that

  • archidexterous20, hey dude maybe you should try not swearing

  • hi to all my fellow Christian.. stop slandering start caring... thank you..

  • everytime i hear this song i feel like im blessed, Lord Bless me and my family always...

  • so what if they have tattoo? its better for a man with tattoo praising God WITH HIS HEART than a man without a tattoo who judges people and who doesnt even truly know Christ. Men are not born to be perfect after all. so stop this and lets all come together praising Jesus name... Peace!

  • Amen!!

  • people are sometimes judgemental... we look always on the outside appearance.... in our church we are taught to take good care of our body since it is God's templeso having a tatoo is like destroying your it but i tell you that God doesnt care because on that too much because he looks what is in you... and for hillsong having a tatoo is just a fashion...

  • @cibvy014 they have tattoos because of their culture, sometimes we need to know every culture before we judge, If i'm not mistaken.:)

  • @latebloomer09 correectt :)

  • to BrainRlrwin- what if the tattoo is a cross or a verse from the bible?... then how could you call it worldly?.. plus ive got to say hillsong united is awesome!!!

  • TheCelebrationYouth, a person can claim that it is worldly for a Christian to get a tattoo because they are following the ways of the world. We should be proclaiming Christ to the world, not denying Christ to the world, plus the Bible clearly says not to have tattoos.

  • yo people chill out...they are doing it for God...take a breather.....not a big deal..stop judging

  • Comment removed

  • Is that what God taught us? Looking at others people's mistake and criticize it? The Christian thing to do make them see the path of righteousness. If God can forgive our biggest mistakes, I think He can someone if accidentally dropped the Bible. Christianity is not a long list of things to do. It is about what Christ did for us on the cross. God has forgiven us because of this so let's cut Joel some slacks.

  • yung Church namin kailangan pang mag puslit ng biblesa china para mapadalhan sila dun dahil walang mabibiling bible dun... ako nga nagdala ako ng sarili kong bible kasi walang bible sa mga bookstore dun... the important thing is the Word of God not the Paper, the paper perishes but the WORD OF GOD LIVES FOREVER!!!

  • Everything will pass away but the word of God will not pass away... so kahit sunugin sunugin mo pa yang Bible, the Word of God is still and forever will be the Word of God... sa China nga e... nilalagay yung mga pages ng bible sa bibig para itago... kasi supressed sila dun, bawal Christians dun, they need to make punit yung pages ng bible para pag hati hatian nila yung Bible... see, the most important thing dun yung message ni God not yung papel mismo...

  • Jesus said we do not live in the Law we are freed from the law, and now we should Worship our father though Jesus Christ, for we will not get save by the law but through our faith in Jesus Christ... for god loves those who have Tattoos and those who dont have tattoos!!! whoooooooaaahhhhhh Praise our mighty King!!!

  • Brian, please read that scripture in context before you start throwing around stuff like that...the verse right before that (27) also says not to cut your hair on the sides of your head or clip your beard...i'm not saying we should all go out and get tats, but is that really all you can say after all this guys doing for the body of Christ?

  • mLi4kJe, I am quoting the passage in it's proper context. I am sure that Joel is a fine Christian man but it would just be better if he did not follow worldly trends. Regards.

  • The context is towards no remembering the dead through body markings, as the Egyptians did.

  • moonlightcape, then perhaps the ten commandments that are also found in the Torah were only applicable to the Israelites living at the time of Moses and are no longer applicable to anyone today?!

  • No, and there was a reason Jesus alluded to the commandments, and not to other instructions of the OT. Do you offer burnt offerings still? The ten commandments were God's supreme Law. Note that the bodily markings rule wasn't one of those ten.

  • moonlightcape, Jesus' death on the cross has done away for the need for offerings for sin. Your claim that it is ok for Christians to have tattoos because Jesus did not mention otherwise is flawed because it is an argument from silence. Do you think it is ok to degrade your daughter by making her a prostitute (Lev. 19:29) because this is not mentioned in the gospels?! Christians should proclaim their faith to the world, instead of denying their faith by having tattoos, etc (Mat. 10: 32-33)

  • I don't mean that anything Jesus did not talk about is permissible, so sorry if that was the vibe I was giving off. However, I do not think that having a tattoo denies one faith. Pointing to the same verse, I think that one could profess and acknowledge their faith through a tattoo of a verse or a cross. What is everyone's thoughts on Deut 11:18 and tattoos? I think so many people have 'religion' twisted, thinkg legalistic lifestyles are more important that one's relationship w/ Jesus

  • moonlightcape, then I guess that anything in the Bible that describes how Christians live could be dismissed as being 'legalistic'. If a Christian gets a tattoo, is it a case of the church influencing the world, or the world influencing the church?! The answer is obvious. Also, what kind of relationship does a person have with Jesus when they are denying Christ to the world with their tattoos?!

  • Incorrect. Legalism, in regards to Christianity, has been where enforcing laws has deterred someone from the priority: a loving and growing relationship with Christ. I'm reminded of a few friends of mine, most of them PK's, that were raised with so many rules and religious do's and don'ts not backed up with compassion and love, and when they became adults, they totally rebelled and lived sinful lives; some have yet to come back to Christ. If their parents were less legalistic...

  • (cont) and more loving, they may have grown up with that same mercy and understanding in their personality, and that would translate into their spiritual lives and convictions.

Unless you see a society where all women cover their heads and not serve on worship teams (which is OT way of culture), I would say that a believer getting a Christ-centered tattoo would not be the world influencing the church. And, I never said someone should deny Christ with their tattoo.

  • moonlightcape, what I meant by being legalistic (this was in quote marks) is for a Christian to live their lives according to the Bible. I think you would have a very difficult time trying to convince most people that Christians who want to have tattoos are not merely following the secular world, where so many people these days have tattoos. "...don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred towards God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God (Jam 4:4)

  • Why did you leave out the beginning of that verse? I do not seen myself as a adulterer by seeking a biblical tattoo. Christians SHOULD try their best to live according to the Bible. I agree and affirm that. I see myself as being continuously regenerated by the Spirit, with the Bible as my guide, the Absolute Truth. However, Legalism reminds me of a nagging parent, one who pushes the child away, not paving the way for a loving two-way relationship.

  • (cont) As for convincing the world that Christians' tattoos are not for secular reasons, I say BRING IT ON. I see it as part of my call to bear my cross for the sake of spreading the Good News. I've lived with judgement for religious reasons and other ones my whole life, I'm perfectly content with who God is making me and guiding me to be. If explaining my future biblical tattoo to whoever asks about it, plants a seed that God uses, again I say BRING IT ON! Amen

  • moonlightcape, this is the beginning of the verse I quoted: "You adulterous people..." (Jam 4:4). I was not misquoting the verse by omitting this part. The Christian church is referred to as the bride of Christ, and when Christians are not loyal to Christ by following the ways of the world, then they are committing spiritual adultery. This is what this verse means. There are plenty of other ways of showing non-Christian people the Christian faith, there is no need at all for secular tattoos.

  • That's just the thing, I don't think a tattoo of a verse is a secular tattoo. I agree with your bit on spiritual adultery.

  • A message for Joel Houston (and others) from the Bible: 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD' (Levitucus 19:28 (NIV)). Pick the Bible up from the ground and read it!

  • But it's more important to see them praising God and havin' 'em relationship wit Him,or stop them just because a tatto. God loves who have tattos or not.All we need to do is to have a truly relationship wit Jesus Christ...God bless, and by the way... Jesus is coming soon!!!!

  • But don't you think that Christians should avoid things that are forbidden in the Bible, like having tattoos (Lev. 19:28)? In the Bible God gives Christian's instructions on how they should live their lives and I think we should have a lot of respect for the Word. Also, the Bible says: '...friendship with the world is hatred toward God.' (James 4:4) (NIV). Having tattoos is not a Biblical/Christian thing, it is a worldly thing.

  • Yeah, I tottaly agree wit You!!!

But if they have one, wat meter is their hearts wit Jesus,by the way, who knows wat's in their hearts...

Sure we need to avoid all of this world and it's things.

    I guess they know this...

  • Can a group of believers come together and play basketball, another worldly thing? What if they glorified Christ in their fellowship? What if someone had a Biblically uplifting scripture tattooed on their arm?

  • @BrianRIrwin look at the verse right behind that... "'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard. lev. 19:28.... do you follow that verse?

  • Hi TheCelebrationYouth, yes I do follow the teachings of lev 19:28, just as I follow these other teachings in Lev: no sex with my mother (19:8), no sex with other men (18:22), no sex with animals (18:23), no robbing my neighbour (19:13), no divination or sorcery (19:26), etc, etc. All these teaching in Leviticus for holy living are applicable for Christians today and it is wrong to single out Lev 19:28 and ignore the other teachings in Leviticus.

  • point is dont do that its not right ok

  • this is a controversial subject...i think you should treat Gods word with respect. my friend used the bible as toilet paper once and got this weird infected rash afterwards...so now i take care of my bible...btw no one can judge a persons heart so the person below me - that is a very stupid and broad comment to make that everyone who respects there bibles are religious...its actually religious to make such judgements...maybe tell that to your pastor?

  • its funny... my youth pastor told me one time, " you know, those who defend the PHYSICAL book that is the BIBLE with everything that they have, are usually the religious who dont even pick it up to begin with.. " PSSSSSSS OUCH! hahaaha SALVATION IS HERE!!!!!! WHOOOOOHAAAA!!!!! WHOS GOIN TO UNITED CONFERENCE 09?!??!?! ME!!!!!!

  • Lahat naman nagkakamali..

  • wag ponting icrtisize o ijudge ung tao!at di po sin ang pgbgsak nya ng bible, at kng alm nyng mali un di nya ggwin un!mhala ung WORD OF GOD ung nillman ng bible ay dpat inoobey ntin at nmumuhy tayo ng ayon dun dhil un ay command ni God at we mst lve accrding to hs will and command and i bliv n gnun ang saloobin ni Joel!so nxt time wg po taung mgcritisze ng kpwa ntin. "Love youy neighbour as yourself" this is the second greatest commandment (Matthew 22:39)

  • I don't care what the world throws at me now

It's gonna be alright-Joel Houston hehe

    GOD BLESS

  • uhm, one last thing, I want you folks to read John chapter 8..there Jesus showed how to treat someone who was caught in a sin..and, oh, by the way, the sin was adultery, a greater sin compared to dropping the bible(that IF, dropping a bible is a sin)...Love, brothers, love...

  • well now, i better get my own bible and read it, that's how i respect the bible, not by reacting in such a manner that you violate Jesus commandment of love. Judging, arguing with each other, people like them remind me of the churches that the apostle Paul handled..you folks better search your own hearts before arguing with each other here..once again, God bless you all..

  • It's Joel's accountability to God, not ours, wether it's wrong or right..plus, did you watch the video to focus on Christ or to focus on the performance. Please give careful thought to your ways, like God said in the book of Haggai..Please..Focus on Christ and not on other people's mistake...

  • there's a lot of greater things in God's glory to talk about..i mean, it's not necessary to argue about this stuff, please...Jesus taught us not to judge others..wether it's wrong or right in eyes of legalistic people like the pharisees or in the eyes of an understanding God who searches the heart, is not for us to complain with..

  • kya nya tinapon kc di nya mhawakan...COMMON SENSE nman...!!

  • woah.. tinapon ung bible?? hmmm... i hope he didn't mean not to respect God's word..

  • kya nya tinapon kc di nya mhawakan...COMMON SENSE nman...!!

  • lol you guys talk about how joel doesnt respect the word of God enough rar rar rar. Wow seriously guys, get a grip. the word of God isnt in some book, its in the hearts of His children. Before you look at joel's actions look at his heart.

  • I understand what you are trying to say. But everyone has different viewpoints; mainly culturally. Some people were raised to respect the Word of God as a book/material as well as message in it. Others were raised in a liberal setting where their lifestyles reflect more of an open-minded (i wouldnt say rebellious though) human being. We all just have to learn how to respect one anothers beliefs just as long as they are still under what the Bible says. God bless!

  • take justinvisda's comment there for example. He put on a word which to some people is not acceptable. But I am not a person to judge.

  • im the one who first comment this video, so this is my last comments about it! we do mistakes But mistakes have consequences. there were major consequences that continue to trouble our lives until today. If we can't handle the consequences, then don't make the mistakes. bye then and God bless All!

  • wow I think there's a huge misunderstanding going around here. I too believe that the word of God is holy but remember that still the bible in physical form is just material. Say someone didn't own a bible but read it off the internet is God's word in there not the same. Also you have to realize that Joel's heart didn't mean to treat the bible like a toy it just kind of happened, you can tell he dropped it down and not threw it down.

  • Wow! Allright you know what that shows me that you don't have respect on the things of God uh? Thats ok bro but I believe that the things of God is important and respectful. How can you compare with healing with the things of God? God Bless!

  • Just like the Pharisees ...always seeing whats wrong..complaining someone got healed on the Sabbath forgetting the fact that SOMEONE WAS GETTING HEALED!!!!! Please get over yourselves if you could achieve 1/5th of what Joel has for the Kingdom then come back and talk...

  • Damn!! you only see the mistakes!! how about the thing he do for the filipinos` he is the hands and feet of God` dont judge him`!

  • I'm really proud what he did for the Filipinos but i'm really sad that he had to throw the bible like that. It seems like you're more defending Joel but I'm defending God's word. If we are hands and feet of Jesus we should have respect on the bible using our hands like you said Justin. God Bless you brother!

  • but you are not God, don't judge him couze your not God

  • So? Edi wag na kau makinig sa kanya kung anu anu pa pinagsasabi nyo`

  • dont judge him youre not a God

  • I think the Word of GOd should definately be respected more than that. i think he got a little too excited, maybe he didnt do it intentionally. But either way ITS THE WORD OF GOD! And if he deeply cared about it and lived by it he would not be throwin it around like some toy..we realy need to be careful with this kinda stuff

  • I agree that he may have got caught up in the moment. Not an excuse, just an explanation. I don't agree with your post's ending. I think he does deeply care about the Word, but got caught up. Unless it's God with a YouTube account, lets not judge.

  • If I would start singing a song I would gently put the bible down Why? Beacuse thats showing respect in the alter of God. When we are in the alter we have to show respect because other people are going to look at us, so we have to show the good testomony in us. I'm not judging Joel but next time he should gently put the bible away.

  • and in he's word.

  • Still!!!! The bible is holy!!! I heard some guy said that hes pastor was standing on a bible for a demostration. I think thats wrong, a man of God shouldn't do those things. When you are in the alter of God we have to be reverend in the house of God in other words have respect. Show that we have respect in the bible.

  • lol he has to drop the bible so dat he could start singing. we cant judge any1. Only God knows and sees his heart. Only Joel and God knows if Joel really worships God.

  • people we don't have a right to judge him..

we don't know if he had done it intentionally or what?..I'm not against Joel nor you guys but only God knows what is in his heart..we don't have a right to that..remember what the Scripture says in Matthew 7:1, Do not judge, or you too will be judged..we are in the body of Christ and we must to unite in his name not judge ones fault..I hope you all understand it..God bless us all..take care..a

  • he had to drop it in order for him to start singing, and im pretty sure he didn't do it wit the wrong intentions, and what khemikalkraze said is true, we gotta treasure the words in it, that is the most important part.

  • i only asking why he drop the BIBLE on the stage???????????

  • I guess you just don't get it.. it's not about performing.. it's about worshipping HIM!! Who cares who's on stage?? God was there.. what else matters??

  • Lemme say... simply because i was not there. that's why Joel just dropped his bible, but if i'm around he will definitely pass it to me. LOL! hey bro... wat i'm sayin is... don't make it a big issue, instead of problematizing that crap... why don't we just focus and do our part, being God's hands and feet.

    Peace!

  • oh now i get it. i wasnt there but from the looks of it, he just needed to place it somewhere near him? sad but u had a ryt to freak out. lets just not judge him. that guy joel up there is a youth leader. and these people arent payed to sing their hearts out.

  • why did he drop the BIBLE on stage???????????? I called that PERFORMER not worshiper of GOD where is the respect from the word of God???search this video with time of 5:07 sec - Hillsong united live in manila 2

  • well, maybe to their culture its something fine lang. So i believe its a minor issue to continually ponder about. The main question we should be asking is 1. Is he(worship leader) excersing the Word of God in his life 2. Is his heart worshiping God in spirit and in truth?. The answers to that i dont know, but God sees his heart, when many of us sees the outside apperance. God Bless po.

  • why did he drop the BIBLE on stage???????????? I called that PERFORMER not worshiper of GOD where is the respect from the word of God???search this video - Hillsong united live in manila 2

  • Did you notice in the old testament that the priest took good care of the word of God. They didn't drop it when they felt like it. They didn't have parties after they read it, they didn't play around. They had a really serious commitment with God and they were really respectul to God. Come on!! Its the word of God we are talking about!

  • How's your synagogue? Read some other comments. I agree that he probably got caught up in the moment, not an excuse, just an explanation. I hope he doesn't do that anymore, that's all I can hope for.

  • Do we not see that we have all dropped the Bible.. .when we read the word of God and walk away in disobedience? God's words are Spirit and life... God is not interested in whether we treasure a book and keep it safe... He wants us to hide His word in our hearts, and all His word to change us from the inside out. Why r we going to condemn someone for dropping a Bible? Is the physical book itself important, or the words in it? We may have never dropped the Bible, but do we live by the words in it?

  • amen...

  • Amen to that khemikalkraze !!! Couldn't have said it any better

  • How can he read something powerful out of the bible and then drop it however he wants. The bible is not a toy, its the word of God!! I feel sad for him, maybe because hes the pastor son he can do whatever he wants. I think Christianity has alot of freedom. I think some christians have more influenced in the world instead on the things of God.

  • Only God can judge Joel. Only God knows what's in his heart... The problem is, people are always focus on what Joel is doing. A little thing he does, people will make a big issue about it... If he sinned or did something wrong, He's the one who's accountable before God, and we are not to judge.

  • Sixstringinvader, I'm not against Joel. I love what he is doing but sometimes we have to wake up. You're right God is the only one who can judge him but I'm just saying that it's not right what he did. God Bless!

  • God Bless you too.

  • sixstringzinvader-yes u r trully right! if u r living in the word oF God as u said! droping bible is a character of holy behavior??????????

    tell me????????????

  • He just dropped it anyway, he didn't throw it and leave it behind... For sure after the concert he picked it up, and read it while on their way home. Obtaining a holy behavior doesn't lies on how we take care of the Bible, the main point is... true respect or obedience to God's word is by reading it, putting it in our hearts and by showing it with our actions and i think Joel is absolutely doing that!

But anyway, Believe what you wanna believe in. We all have different point of views. GB

  • Hey, the bibles is something powerful and holy. Joel shouldn't have drop the bible like that, thats wrong what he did. If I was him I would've gently put the bible down but not drop it like he did. Hey Joel, besides being hands and feet of Jesus show respect on the things of God.

  • WHY HE DROP THE BIBLE ON STAGE??????????I CALLED THAT PERFORMER NOT WORSHIPER!!!!!!!!!!wHERE IS HIS RESPECT FROM THE WORD OF GOD????????????????

  • i think it doesn't matter if he dropped it... as long as he's living with the word of God and doing what's written on it. Unlike some people, who are making the bible really Holy, they even put it on the altar but, showing respect to it... But the question is... are they even reading the Bible?? are they even obeying what's on it?
