My ex mother-in-law was the singer's Nanny up in Boston.......watched em play in garages......then hit the big time....he always called her when in town to offer her free tickets....my son was quite impressed that "Grandma" babysat him .....she was very sad at his passing as well, she stated "she would miss him, his life had been too. short but full of adventure."...!

My favorite Boston song! I've seen the band in concert 3 times. Since the summer of '76 when my sister first bought this album (I was 14), I've been hooked on this band. 50 years old & still diggin' "Rock & roll band"! Still air guitar to this when no one's watching....

NO!! I don't think it was a tone bender. SORRY - MY BAD!! But Scholz must have used a white noise generator of some sort to create the cheering crowd effect for the song. Unless of course, he went through the trouble of recording a REAL crowd of people. Anyone nowadays who wants to create that effect using a sound effect box can quite easily do it. We have the technology now.

I think I read somewhere that the "cheering crowd" sound from 2:52 onwards, was actually done by using a device called a tone bender. Sounds like a real crowd of people, don't it?? Anyway, one of my faves from the one and only BOSTON!!!

This was my favorite band.

Tom Scholz was the driving force, and the rest of the band was so angry with his drive and perfectionism. This band is nothing without Tom Scholz.

RIP Brad Delp. Obviously a really nice guy who fought depression. Really sad.

You do realize that every instrument on the recordings in played by Tom, right? The "rest" of the band (save for Brad Delp) only showed up during performances.

Actually, as much as I love this song, it's nothing like how they started out. They got their big break not from gigs, but from demo tapes put together by Tom Scholz in his basement from his own guitar playing and Brad Delp's vocals. It took several years of failure and most of Scholz's savings before they hit it big, but even when they did, most of the records they released were recorded in a basement, not a studio.
