Correction to your correction, It was Greg Rolie who said "you couldn't have paid me a million dollars to stay", not Perry.
Roas and Smith weren't fired as a condition of Perry's return, Perry hadn't left yet when that happened. They were recording "Raised" and the stated reason was something about "not capturing the sound", not Perry's voice (at least not officially. Valory rejoined the band with Smith when they reunited for "Trial". That is when Herbert was fired. Dean came later, after Perry.
Ross has played on all of Journey's albums. For Raised on Radio, he was replaced on bass in the studio by Bob Glaub on three songs, while the remaining songs were played by future American Idol judge Randy Jackson who played on the subsequent tour.
Neal Schon has never been fired or left the band and to this day remains in it.
Aside from his termination from the group during the Raised on Radio album sessions (and subsequent tour) in 1986, Ross has played on all of Journey's albums.
@eljay345 correction they were let go as per agreement that steve will come back to join the band for the second time steve herbie was let go to that was steve demand bcoz acording to him both smith and valory are not capturing his voice, during steve perry's interview he said that he never felt that he belong to the band he even said that they could hve paid me a million but i was never happy, valory rejoined the band along with castronovo i love steve but? it's 2010 time to move on..and let go.
Actually technically he left Journey because he didn't want to be forced into hip surgery. But yes, I agree with you that Arnel needs to be given some credit.
@ValkyrieFreyaAngelNo one knows why Steve left Journey, only Steve.Without Perry Journey is a joke, this bloke can't even pronounce the words properly, the only break he needs is to his neck.
@missbitch67 why steve left? he left because he fired ross valory, neal shon , and i forgot the third person because steve wasn't hearing the sound that he wants and the one fired went on stage without steve and had a new lead singer
@nintendozelda98 He didn't fire Neal, Neal is the only founding member who has always been there. Perry didn't ever really, officially leave. He was replaced after the release of "Trial" because he had a hip problem and he wasn't getting surgery and the band got tired of waiting. That's when they let him go and replaced him with Augeri. The departure after "Raised" was never official. He just quit talking to the guys and worked on "Against the Wall" (which was never released).
classic journey. even better with Pineda. Perry was great but, if he didn't want to continue, his loss. Arnel is pretty close to the original, and he seems more into it
this is not journey,,,,find some real journey you fuck

in !986 (Raised On Radio tour) Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith were fired from the band for musical and professional differences.
Ross Valory has since rejoined the band and remains in it to this day.

Steve Perry left Journey because one of his family had cancer so give Arnel a break. Without Arnel, Journey wouldn't have continued their music.
