  • I feel certain that with the high-flying coloratura and mind-blowing high notes Mozart occasionally wrote for women, he did not expect a sound that was utterly straight. Because vibrato is a natural quality of a healthy, relaxed sound, and I highly doubt anyone could survive a sustained F above high C on a regular basis without vibrato-- let alone make it sound good.

  • I think Elly just helped me find an art song to work on in college. Hooray!

  • Elly Ameling is brilliant. I could listen to her all day long...

  • Lines lines and pure pearls......so Mozartian style!!!

    Perfect.

And with Elly Ameling, NEVER boring....ever.

To listen the complete album is healing for the Soul and brings so much light.

    (For me it does!)

    BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • Elly Ameling is one of the best Mozart interpreters ever. I strongly disagree with the notion that Mozart must be sung without vibrato - adult females should not sound like vibrato-less boy sopranos when singing classical repertoire! Elly achieves an excellent balance between clarity of sound and a natural vibrato.

  • Too much tremolo on this work, especially the colloratures. It has to be sung with a clear angelic voice, just like Schubert's Ave Maria. This isn't Wagner.

  • Elly is one of the few sopranos I have found that do justice to this beatuiful song. Such wonderful precision and musicality! Thanks so much for posting this! :-)

  • Impresionante. Es de mis cantantes preferidas...casi perfecta; una referencia

  • Do you know if her interpretation of haendel's Rejoice Greatly is in Youtube?

  • I always thought this was from an Opera.

  • @LikaLaruku The second part, Gloria Patri, et Filio, etc. is called the Doxology; and terminates many Catholic prayers.

  • Yeah, and she does the exact same thing with Schubert... and Handel... and Bach... and Canteloube... and Wolf... and Berlioz... Fascinating, eh? :)
