Newsflash, Michele: The stimulus WAS NOT A TRILLION DOLLARS. From what I hear, the total was something like $862 Billion, but 1/3rd of that was tax cuts! So it's closer to a half-trillion stimulus, at best. But even THAT stimulus, as Bernstein and Romer admitted in their early report, was really intended to SPUR PRIVATE JOB GROWTH, rather than create lots of public works-related jobs and shit.

As Paul Krugman admitted in one of his latest columns, the stimulus didn't go far enough! It wasn't really much of a stimulus, esp. since it didn't directly create jobs but relied too much on the private sector after the gov't gave out certain forms of aid and money here and there.
