  • thought this was a video about cleaning a gas tank, not a video of 2 old motors...

  • Wonder if this will work with a 2 stroke snowmobile tank with 12 year old (or older) 2 cycle oil at the bottom...

  • Good Thinkin!,Not!

  • Wagner, I´ve cleaned the fuel tank of my motorcycle 2 times and the rust always builds up again. You´ve mentioned something that protects the tank in order so that won´t happen again. What was it? And will this product won´t disolve and end up in the carburetors??? Help me out. Thanks!

  • dumpin the gas in the dirt...niiice

  • obviously the guy that bought the motor didnt know a 351 from his ass either

  • MY METHODS WILL HAVE STUFF SHINING LIKE NEW TRUST ME, IVE BEEN DOING THIS A LONG TIME

  • A BROKEN AUTOMOTIVE GLASS WINDOW, MUCH MORE AGRESSIVE !

I rent a pressure washer with flex head, stand the tank upwards against a wall and be done in 5 mins ; ).

Or take a large pot of boiling water, add a bottle of vinegar, let sit for 2 days, shake the tank for 10 mins, drain, rinse, add water and box of baking soda, shake 10 mins, drain, rinse let dry.

Or use a gallon of chem dip carb and parts cleaner, let sit 2 days, and come back to a shiny tank after rinsing out.

  • good video, but should have used a chain instead of gravel

  • thats alot of work.

  • "[...] Didn't know the difference between a 351 and his ass" — L.O.L.

  • I'm gonna try bb's.

  • clr might work also

but i like this idea too

  • use a vacuum cleaner? Holly crap! Thats like making a 16 gal shop vac bomb! I dont care how old the gas is it can still blow.

  • :facepalm

  • i did this on my xl 250 tank, that old things got 20+ years worth of rust in it....i got all the old tary gas and a good bit of rust out but theres still a bit thats being pretty freaking stubborn....think im gonna go to auto zone and see if i cant find me some hardcore stuff to do this with

thanks for the vid man, sounds like charlie aint got no buisness with a 351 if he keeps blowin em like that haha

  • well I like useing nuts & bolts and a magnet to remove and there is easier was to clean tanks

  • Are your fingernails painted pink!!!!

  • huh... no I sure as hell hope they werent

  • he is a fricken retard if he dosent know the diferince be twean that wendsor and a cleveland

  • @8sixfeetunder haha your so dumb

    be twean?

  • shop vac + fuel = NO!

worst is trying to clean carb with shop vac...

    just don't do it.

  • i had to do the same thing to my lawn mower tank...i was going to go buy some gas for my lawn mower & a neighbor offered me like 5 gallons of fuel that he recycled from a truck tank...well, it work find for a little while & killed my lawn mower... i didn't realize it @ first & let the mower sit for a little while...one day i torn it all apart & rebuilt it. but, it kept choking out. i kept taking the tank off & setting it to the side...lol

  • I already got the rust out of my tank but the surface does look brown and obviously not like a new gas tank. Im thinking of buying a liner and finish it up like you said but I was wondering do you think I need to buy a metal ready or does that not matter?

  • Vacuum cleaner + flammable vapors?

  • you think itll blow up? lol

  • Vacuum cleaner+ Flammable vapors= WOOF,BOOM,OUCH! That will leave a BIG mark....

  • To make the cleaning process easier, bungi cord the gas tank to your tractor wheel and go for a drive, plow a field or whatever!

  • ahahah wow

  • hey wayne wat has he been doin 2 blow all them motors ??

  • apparently charlie doesnt understand the concept of redline or over revving lol

  • haha i see

  • Thanks for the video man.

  • no problem

  • Can you make a video on the model A

  • yup Im gonna try to get one done this week

  • good information, i was just cleaning my cub 169s tank yesterday

  • cool get that intrep to start and get it the hell outa there before it breaks again lol

  • well the motors in it now I gotta pick up a battery and O2 sensors on monday and then its all over but for the screaming

  • how do you think the 302 will rate hp wise from his Charlie's 351???

  • ahh prolly only like 160 to the flywheel if hes lucky, down from what I had set up to be about 275 or so on the last motor he blew up

  • dang that sucks... i would have taken the "351" that he bought to replace the blown one back to the guy and said this isn't what i paid for...

  • well the reason it wont make much is just because Im not going to put much time and effort into it if hes just going to blow it again... if I had had my 300 six drivetrain sitting in the shop it would have gone in instead... Im thinking for now he doesnt need anything too terrible powerful lest he should do to it what he did to the last one I built lol

  • yeah true i wouldn't have brought an old motor like what was in there up to 7 grand in the first place... btw couldn't you use a chain to clean the gas tank i think it would do about the same job but be a lot easier to get out...

  • well the motor that was in it was actually fairly fresh and I had done some work to make it run a little hotter for him but since he was low on cash we left the bottom end stock... and yes I had never thought of using a chain before but that is an awesome idea Ill have to try it when I go to clean a tank next, thanks

  • no problem I think I actually heard it on one of ChuckE2009's videos...

  • Had the same thought about using the chain.

  • ya really shouldnt use a vacume, i think. If it sparks, youre done for. Just my thoughts...

  • hmm you know youre prolly right Ive never actually done the vacuum thing before Ive always been able to get the gravel out without but it was something that popped in my head while I was doing it that I thought I might just throw out there... I stand corrected

  • i had a rusty tank on my old blazer and i didnt do that and i pugled a fuel pump up

  • yup thats why you gotta get em all clean

  • good video but them coffee cans are good for more than collection gravel i find them kind useful when cookin fried foods just toss flour or cornmeal in season then toss your meat in then its ready to fry and to think coffee cans has more uses when in the hands of a redneck lol btw any chance you can do a video of the model a?also could you explain what an fe motor is?

  • hey good call on the uses for coffee cans I use them for all kinds of things around the shop but never thought of any home uses... yes I will indeed get the model A started back up hopefully this next week... and I would love to explain what the FE series motor is

  • yeah amazingly i stumbled across the home uses for them coffee cans by accident and from then on i always save them for that shoot its the simple things that are the easiest to figure out like coffee cans never know what a redneck might find a use for somethin that others call trash lol

  • we like it

  • Cool Video Wayne!!!....and a interesting way of cleaning at that!!! :)

  • hey wanna help me put a 460 or a 352 into my '79 F-250? lol

  • sure dude Ill just drive on over some afternoon LMAO sounds like a fun project though

  • ROFL

that 400 really needs to go though!!!

  • why would you put a 352 FE in a 79?

  • 352 is an awesome motor... baby brother to the 390 and second smallest motor in the FE family they put out close to 260 horse in stock form and are pretty wild when built correctly however they are a little harder to come by than the more common 390 and 360 but that just adds to the unique appeal... now there would be some motor mount changes and a different radiator needed plus you would have to find a tranny that would bolt to the FE series engines but I still say itd be kinda cool

  • no i know all about the 352 my first truck was a 67 f-100 352fe i was just saying about swaping one into a 1979 truck would make be point less.you can make just as much power with a later model small block

  • the point is that the 352 is free and a way better than the 400 that's in it.

  • does the 352 come with its trans? they are different if so then that would be a sweet swap the 352 fe has a lot of tourqe

  • i don't think it does but i have been told the 352 will bolt right in in place of the 400.

even if it doesn't i need a new tranny anyway

  • sorry my friend a FE wont bolt up to a M block tranny because the M block use's a big block bellhousing you might be able to get a aftermarket bellhousing to get to work.

  • no no the FE most certainly will not bolt up to a 400M bellhousing the FEs shared a common bellhousing that was different than the 385 and 335 series castings... the motors that would bolt directly in place of the 400 would be the 351M 351C 460 and 429... however if you have a two peice transmission you may be able to find an FE bellhousing at a scrap yard that will bolt up to your transmission main section

  • my bad I didnt mean to sound like I didnt think you knew anything about them I was just explaining why I thought a 352 would be an awesome swap... but then again I am a big block guy soo gotta love that tire melting bottom end torque lol
