Forever BJ WILSON!I went to knew he was gone 15 years later,in 2005 because i am young and fell in love with PH so much and this was the formation i saw on a video,so sad he was gone right before the reunion with the original members on 91,he would rock so much today with Gary and Geoff Whitehorn.
Once i read on a review that BJ ORQUESTRATED the drums, not only played
I'm browsing these Procol Harem vids looking for some archival performances of Robin Trower, but I suppose he left the band before before most of the TV appearances. This is a great song, but if they pushed Trower as far back in the mix as this guitarist, no wonder he left the band. It's worth it to hear that great Hammond timbre though. Not many bands had two keyboardists until synth pop came along. Greenslade is the only other I can think of at the moment.
@wardka Let's not forget The Band, who were (Hudson/Manuel) utilizing dual keyboards before the great Procol! Their second album's notes make a clear comparison. Keep listening. yeah
Forty four approval ratings and one sad little turd in the thumbs down column pissing on his own leg...cheer up little puppy, you can come back in once you've liked yourself clean.
My first pair of decent book shelf speakers were put to the test with the previous album "Home' Christmas ' 70 ,( the album jacket was put to another kind of test )-Would have to settle for records until their spring 73 Grand Hotel tour -Superb live.act & of course the " one of " Mr.BJ Wilson .
I've got teenagers and I try to explain what a great era for pure music this was and how little theatrics played. You've got to love the blue tape on the Brooker's mike, the open back of the organ, Ball's faded superman t-shirt, etc. The creative music took center stage!
@d047 Amen brother! We need dancers performing totally stupid moves, smoke bombs, mosh pits, spandex, electrified jump suits large tv screen graphics, light shows, pretty boys and fashionable girls. It's for people who are visual and not aural with the attention span of a gameboy!
Thanks for bringing back a great memory... I saw these guys at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh in 1970, they played all the songs off the Broken Barracades album. It was vinyl, and in stereo, not mono. Imagine that! Anyway this song was the highlight for me, and since there wasn't a big crowd, all the band members sat on the edge of the stage and talked to us in between songs. What a great way to spend my 18th birthday! JW
@ropantoja while they are very original the early albums drew complaints of their ripping off gylan and the band and of course bach. i saw them twice they were stupendous!!
B.J. Wilson........aka "an octopus in a bathtub"! *LOL* Probably one of the best drummers of the era!
RIP, B.J.

what an electrifying performance. I love this song. The drummer really stole this show though I must say. Gary brooker's smile at the end says it all

procol did not rip off dylan or the band. robbie robertson of the band made that comment out of jealousy

This group strikes me for the absolutely original sound and flawless performances. Wish had known them back in the early 70s.
