Ubuntu was derrived from debian. Most of the graphical enviroments will look the same on account they are programs and not a required element. I don't mind the modern graphical enviroments but for work enviroments I prefer just a simple window manager.
I was running Ubuntu and wasn't very impressed with it so is Debian any better or is it much the same thing? The interface looks identical.

yes linus like KDE more but Gnome is part of the GNU project and Linux is just 1 part of a fill GNU system

I use Debian (initially Sarge, and now Etch) and, well, I found this video quite dull. To each their own, I suppose.
