Thats one big difference from a boxing match to an MMA match. A boxers complete strategy sometimes is to win on points and never go for a knock out. In MMA your career wouldn't go very far with that strategy. We expect MMA fighters to lay it all on the line and bang away. Thats just the way it is. If you want to win your MMA matches on points alone, get into boxing. The fans expect more in MMA-they pay the bills. I love Florian when he does his thing. He gave too much respect to Maynard.

i understand Dana's frustration. I love Kenny Florian but when he refuses to fight to his potential when it matters it pisses me off too. That guy should have already been champion and a lot of people know that. That's where Dana's frustration was coming from. If this guy could just perform when it matters he'd have a belt.

What I saw in that fight was Kenny trying to stay behind his jab too much. I think he got too confident with it from the Gomi fight. Gomi and Maynard are two very different fighters, yet he approached them the same. If u let a powerful wrestler come forward, u allow him to implement his game. Kenny needed to have put the pressure on Maynard and backed him up.

There are tons of talented guys constantly being added to the UFC Roster. Charles Oliveira, Evan Dunham, Roy Nelson, Yoshihiro Akiyama etc. And just because I've seen A. Silva fight a billion times, it doesn't make it any less exciting, they always put on good fights. But I would love to see those guys you mentioned fighting in the UFC .. better yet, take all the fighters from DREAM, Bellator, UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, and make them fight each other, that's MMA Heaven.

I wouldn't call it 'choking', but he definitely plays it too safe in big fights and ends up letting his opponent dictate what happens. Maynard did next to nothing in that fight so Kenny could've easily stolen it merely with some aggression and control. It's a shame, because when Kenny isn't so timid, he's easily the 2nd or 3rd best lightweight in the world.

He needs to rethink himself now. I'd really love to see him add some muscle and work on his wrestling from here on out.

I think Kenny was just so worried about being taken down that he didn't strike like he usually does. His sorner gave him great advice when they told him to stay in the center of the octagon because Grey could only take him down against the cage.
