  • Makes you really overthink things

  • Insane shit right here

  • I had to play this when I was at the Rudolph Ganz Conservatory 50 years ago. Brings back nice

    memories. thanks for posting.

  • *closes eyes* absolute musical perfection.

  • I cried

  • como me hubiese encantado vivir en esa época....con mi bella damisela...escuchar obras de arte como esta....pero no lo se ---- tal vez esto solo fue un sueño----

  • the breathing in this recording is a bit disturbing

  • Listen to Exit Music(For a Film) by Radiohead, Thom Yorke said he was influenced by this song.

  • Allie played this in the notebook. The second I heard it, it was like a wave of emotions running through me. I love this.

  • That is why i am here. Going to learn it! Just watched The Notebook <3@thatandreachick

  • my sister is afraid because i love this song and its in water for elephants (the movie about Columbine)

  • @TheNeanderthalraps I'm sure that in 1838, when Chopin composed this piece, he had already foreseen not only the Columbine shooting, but also the documentary about said event.

  • @TheNeanderthalraps I think your just thinking of "Elephant" and not "Water for Elephants" because I saw "Water for Elephants" the other day and it had Robert Pattinson in it and was legitimately about elephants.

  • @JordanPool13 hahaha good catch

  • Learning this :')

  • Talking notes.

  • I love it. Suffocation.

  • haha i wont even listen to songs from 3 years ago, but i still listen to this!

  • A tad bit too slow for my liking.

  • When was this made

  • @goodbyeyo It was composed in November and December of 1838, published in 1839.

  • From the notebook................. <3

  • Poor Leonardo.

    You deserved better.

  • @1:29

  • How insensitive I must have seemed When she told me that she loved me...

    Jobim and DeMoraes

  • Jimmy Page also knew how to play it very well, his version is perfect.

  • I played this last year in my recital. I really love it.

  • YAAAY E MINOR, YEAH ALRIGHT

  • I love the fact that you can hear breathing in the background. It adds to the sense of despair and desperation that Chopin was enduring. Hence why it's known as "Suffocation".

  • Magnific!!!

Cat de simplu si frumosss!!!!Iti cuprinde toata fiinta !!!

  • wonderful!!!!!!amazing!!!!

  • So many recordings of this are taken too fast (IMO) but this one is just beautiful. Great drama and emotion.

  • Ist echt gut...

    So ein eschönes Lied...

  • This is the sound of a heart breaking.

  • I love playing this piece .. takes me out of time

  • so beautiful.

  • Is this part of a greater composition? If so, what composition would that be?

  • @Japipapi It is part of Chopin's 28th opus. the opus consists of 24 preludes, in each of the 24 keys. They are fairly short compositions, much like small poems, so there is no greater composition that they lead up to, despite the name "prelude"

  • @purestr99109 Thanks, perfect description

  • Loved it , please rate my first songs, FNCHY1, thankyou ;)

  • 184 ppl don't have class.

  • Franek, zawsze będzięsz w naszych, polskich sercach :)

  • This has always been one of my favorite "classical" pieces...

  • Very beautiful music, but yet so sad. Peace2U, Alex

  • It is wonderful

  • Ntm -My People

  • Very sad melody... Too easy for beginners.. right?

  • @AzzuraPrime No, it's not very easy as it seems, I'm in grade 7 for piano and playing it so I can tell you, it's not so easy!

  • @grhakerck But it's not also that hard...

  • @grhakerck Okay, agree with you :)

  • A weekend to learn. A lifetime to master.

  • @JavaHelios I agree.

  • I thought the ending went a little faster O.o

I guess I need to slow down my pace a little

  • @MapleErag0n1 surely you should play it as you feel it should be played X]

  • this is so sad. it reminds me of a sad clown

  • is it faster in the notebook? <3

  • OMG i acctually found the song after i saw the notebook years ago i was like what song is this and randomly searchimg for another i find it:D

  • My piano teacher wants me to learn to play this song. I think it is not that great. It's way to slow. All well.

  • I listen to him when there's no one else to turn to. His Preludes are my escape. His 4th is a bit short for that use though. If I could go back and talk to him, I would have convinced him to never stop playing this song. So I would never stop listening. Be forever at peace with myself.

  • such a beautiful song to sip tea, and read to. just beautiful.

  • @gubankova Yes it is. Its the song that Allie plays while they are in the house that noah rebuilt. My favorite movie of all times.

  • I think this song is played in the movie the notebook

  • can anyone else hear breathing?

  • @Tonkunura no smoker but banana eating breather might be! lol

  • @Tonkunura LOL @ the breathing in the background. I had to scroll through the comments just to make sure that I wasn't hallucinating

  • Mother of God! I pressed the dislike button with an accident! Please forgive me everyone!

  • @enest94 Thanks! 88 characters of pure apology- accepted.

  • the notebook <3

  • my god u can hear the man breathing! lol

  • Are the first two chords supposed to be slower than the rest? I am trying to study it.

  • @votesrus it's like the left hand does a "wave effect" starts slowly and in a low volume, but it goes louder and faster in the same compass. That's a way to play it

  • @Zalejo1 Ok thanks!

  • i'm learning to play this... :L

  • @08ratsmae same!!

  • The music of life.

  • @missdawn2011 Yes, indeed.

  • My video is my interpretation of Chopin's prelude--it's about looking back at the changes of time, how oblivious we are of the change, and how stuck we are at our own time. it's a collection of pictures of the main streets from 1900s to year 2000. The title of the video is Observe the world for 100 years in just 2 minutes: (1900 to 2000)

  • This is timeless sorrow and loneliness. Brings you to the atmosphere right away. Beats a lot of masterpieces more than ten minutes long. This is two minutes of a gloomy reverie, in my case, the loneliness of passing decades. Check my video to see my interpretation. This, for me, is one of the most beautiful pieces of music of all time.

  • I would think more highly of him and his music, if he wasn't a GD werewolf... no matter though, he is long dead... SO THEY SAY!!!

  • Very beautiful!!!

  • My eyes watered listening to this... Such beauty...

  • Love is painful ,but love always heals the pain.

  • I'm music ignorant, but I fall in love with this melody after Polish popular sitcom "Świat według Kiepskich" part 170 "Chopin's heart" on ipla.pl That's marvellous tune.

  • beautifull song

  • <3

  • listen to this in surround sound!

  • wonderfull as usual

  • This piece of music is beautiful beyond words.

  • how can i have information about helene gal?

she plays chopin perfectly amazing - i can not track photo , only have one disk of concerto no 1 of chopin played by her

  • NTM- that's my people...a rap with this background music

  • Just to let you know guys every genre of music I've seen on youtube has commenters saying how theirs is true music and wondering how people could listen to any of the other crap. Take that as you will.

  • If you guys lived during the romantic period you'd be dead and unable to listen to this right now =/

  • So, no music existed before Classical music? Huh.

  • @moeblues247

    Of course it did.

It could have even dated back a million years ago if you perceive music to be just sound built on silence. It's all subjective,

  • this epic peice of music has only 3.5 million views yet beiber , beyonce and lil wayne hve views ranging inthe 100 million... i dont understand what is happening to this corrupt world... people are being brainwashed into listening to crap... now this... this is wonderfull music.

  • @MrSaad1932 It's called personal taste. I personally don't like death metal but I can understand that people like it and respect that. Stop acting like your values are the perfect standard for everyone to reach.

  • @IisCrazyFool ok look... you should understand that i dont not hate poeple for their taste in music, but classical music is the thing that started all of music and it is not recieving the respect it deserves

  • @MrSaad1932 Classical started all of music? hmmmm... not true at all.

  • @Doomed928 omg... all the modern music today is based on classical music... more like cheap impressions

  • @MrSaad1932 wow... i love classical music and i agree it doesn't get the respect it deserves from young people today but to say that all modern music is like a cheap impression of classical music is fucking stupid. and music was around far before classical. you seem very close minded.

  • @MrSaad1932 Consider this: If youtube was around during this time, I bet Chopin would of had 10 Million + views. Its about NOW. Beiber, Lil Wayne...they are all alive and are role models for teens today. Yes, you do have a point. "Classical" music did initiate a lot of today's music. But so did the spirituals that the Africans brought over. Don't forget Chant and Boroque. Regardless, yes, this piece is simply phenomenal! I also agree that this music gets no where NEAR enough credit.

  • @iDrum856 no offence but these 'role models' your talking about are making teens maniacs... ok i do agree that classical music did not initiate ALL music but a bulk of the music today... and yes music existed long before classical music i am not saying it didnt , but classical music was the golden age of music.

  • @MrSaad1932 Yes, classical and romantic periods....GENIUS! I love the music from these periods probably more than anything else. And I do not dispute the maniacs teens are becoming. It is unfortunate what is considered to be a new standard of excellence. I'm on your side on this one.

  • @iDrum856 THANK YOU.... they a being brainwashed into thinking that modern music is true music( i am not saying all modern music is bad) ... if i had a choice to live in any time i wanted i would go for the romantic period( mid 1800's )or the classical period(1700's)

  • @MrSaad1932

Please tell me what you think "true music" is.

Does a lady gaga song using a few repeating chords throughout it's entirety and being played on a synthesizer make the music any less "true" than a well-thought-out melodic baroque composition made centuries in the past?

  • @DanAran162 true music is whatever melody plays with that person's soul in the right way. just because you have different tastes doesn't mean you should disrespect other artists, or the people who listen to them. whether the level of talent is vastly different or not, has nothing to do with it.

  • i love it the easiest piece of chopin less notes yet very beautiful

  • I love it song

  • You also screwed up. You do not deserve 3.5 million views. Merry Christmas.

  • chills over my body..

  • @junkheadrooster You should get that checked out...

  • @macprorocks nah. will just listen to more. my drug and my cure.

  • This song is so breath taking, it reminds me of despair and sorrow. It's so powerful, I love every second of it. Not one of his romantic songs but still amazing.

  • That deep breathing sound in the background . . . adds something to this prelude.

  • This piece is so haunting and spooky. Pianists who play this should go and visit castles and old mansions. It makes you play it better!

  • 175 people are like utter morons

  • Very deep...

  • One of the best preludes by Chopin. Very interesting harmony!!!!?

  • 175 Persons without feelins

  • A esto llamaría: Materialización del sentimiento.

  • This is similar to Tristesse

  • This always reminds me of someone. Sigh.

  • i played this on a recital

  • The only song that makes me blithe as well as disconsolate.

  • smallest light saber ever...

  • Aldona Dvarionaite is from Lithuania. We can proud of her! (:

  • this is so depressing but i love it

  • 175 idiots.

  • this must be a dream...

  • Noice.

  • Look for Benjamin Zander's talk at ted.com about this piece. It's just astonishing...

  • I...so love Chopin <3

  • @MangaVampir i do too, chopin wood xD i'm so sorry, i just had to say it :L ... :)x i llove frederic chopin too!

  • @PorkyPower100 who is chopin wood? ^^

  • This is almost as good as PaulFromStokeUK ;-)

  • This was actually played with golf clubs. Not too loud is it? Poor little piano.

  • purest form of musical expression

  • what genre is this??

  • @PunjabiGodz I'm sorry, are you serious?

  • @PunjabiGodz

well within the genre of classical music, this would be subcatagorized as "romantic classical" as it was written in what's known as the romantic era of classical music

  • @PunjabiGodz He was a romantic period polish pianist. Don't know if genres were really that in depth back then other than whether it was band, orchestra, symphony, art song, choir, or this which would be a character piece. Being that its only piano that you hear.

  • its Love ♥

  • кто бы ни был исполнитель, Он лучший!

  • шаги одиночества вечности без романтичностей. Кто же исполнитель?

  • ♥ Beatiful, more than beautiful. i can't explain what it makes me feel ♥

  • the perfect speed, the best interpretation

  • @gosoxmattg Perfect answer to these pedants

  • To people debating whether this is 'classical' or 'romantic', keep in mind that there is a difference between 'classical music' (the whole pantheon of Vivaldi, Bach, Chopin, Wagner, Gershwin, etc.) and 'classical period music' (Haydn, Mozart, etc.) as well as a difference between 'romantic music' (songs about romance in general) and 'romantic period music' (Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, etc.). So if you want to be informative but still technical, this is classical music from the romantic period.

  • This my friends is called a panty dropper.

  • @kris10hawn :)

  • I use to play this myself :) Well done!

  • wow.......

  • I don't always listen to classical, but when I do, I prefer Chopin.

  • @anidorikiladra Chopin = Romanticism.. not classical, sorry mate =D

  • @niksnipez It's still classical music, even though it's in the common practise romantic era.

  • @Bristlehoth Nope. Just music from the classic period is really classical music :D

  • @TheMasterBT Not trying to be knockin on you, but its actually Romantic, not classical. just a tid bit of info.

  • @kris10hawn Thats exactly what I was trying to say lol

  • @TheMasterBT haha yeah sorry i accidentaly replied to the wrong person. but thumbs up.

  • so sad

  • I can hear someone breathing in this video......
