@09matt1995 Hmm, Matsuyama has said that the plot "will likely not lead directly into the plot of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.". To me, that deems it a spin off. But hey, I will still be getting it for PS3. Seems interesting.

MGS4 is a great game and everything, but I don't think it's as good as MGS2/MGS3.. it's my third favourite, but although the storyline is mostly great, some of it is very fanfiction esque (Big Mama and Big Boss.. nuff said) and some of it is as cheesy as your archtypical Hollywood action movie..

I was also disappointed by the lack of cool Codec converstions which I loved about MGS2/MGS3.. it seems as if too much pressure was put on Kojima when he and his team were developing this.. shame.

@StanpyX Good reply!! I like all the Metal Gear Solid games and cannot choose one to top the list. As you mentioned about the codecs, I think they put in less as one of the major critisms from reviewers (especially MGS2) was the codec sequences. Me myself did not mind them, but hey, I am still very impressed and pleased with every MGS Game. The series top my gaming list and have done since the 1st one, nothing will top the seires!

@coolcon2000 I agree. MGS is truly one of a kind. But what I mean is, it was cool how you could use the codec to get info on weapons/items or have funny conversations when you saved on the previous games.. there's not as much of that in MGS4. I've heard the reason behind it is because they couldn't actually fit it because the game is so graphically massive..

It's the long cutscenes that people used to bitch about, though. Personally, I've always enjoyed the gameplay/cutscene mixture..

@StanpyX I see where your coming from now, Like sigint in MGS3 and Nastasha in MGS1? Now that I think about it, that would of been nice to have them in. As for the Gameplay.cutscene thing, I keep telling my friends that thats what Makes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid. Thats one of the reason fanms love it, because its fantastic Cutscenes and story.

@donovanwinters96 Rising isn't a proper MGS game. No Solid Snake and they have changed the gameplay. Its more of a spin off.

@coolcon2000 woah, hang on there. mgs3 didnt have solid snake. it had big boss. does that mean that was a spin off? keep in mind that the game was called metal gear 'solid' 3.

@donovanwinters96 But it had to do with Solid Snake. Besides, Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss, making them, theoretically, the same person. Rising has to do with Raiden, who was not the main character of the series. The only reason Raiden was created was so we could see Snake from a different perspective. Kojima has said this. MGS3 explores the background of what happened to Big Boss (as does PO and PW) and seeing as Big Boss is the father of the main character, he is a central character.
