@AtomicRooster77 Wickie was the original voice of Bluto in Popeye cartoons in the 1930s - I think he was released because he couldn't get along with the rest of the voice cast (Mae Questel and Jack Mercer).
@dukenthaylor Jackson Beck passed away in 2004 at the age of 94. He had a great voice. He's the narrator of the Woody Allen film, "Take the Money and Run".
@OsbornTramain Gotta see that! Thanks! Also, his voice is sampled in one of my favorite songs, "Brainstorm" by the rap group, GANGSTARR. In that tune, Beck repeatedly says "Get on it!" in smooth syncopation, but I don't know what work of his that sound bite is sampled from.
Is that a 55 or 56 Packard Clipper in one of the first shots? Packard was dead when the commercial was produced but the company still had loyalty. Amazing.
Actually, Packard was still in the Corporate name until 1963. There was a hope for sometime with Studebaker that the Packard name could be brought back. Originally, the Avanti was concieved as that car or a else use the Pierce Arrow name which was still owned by Studebaker.
Who's plan? CEO Mason's plan at AMC? When George Romney took over after Mason's death, he nixed any further mergers.....how do you blame Studebaker for a decison made by the AMC CEO? Again, If Packard was the driving force for the aquisition of Studebaker and the AMC merger didn't happen, I'd blame Packard not the aquired company.
So why blame Studebaker? How did Studebaker wrestle control of the company away from Packard? Your original post indicated that Studebaker was the Murderers of Packard, sound like Packard management should be blame, since they made the decision to make a bad transaction. Seems more like suicide.
I wouldn't mind being able to buy a new studebaker,Packard,Nash,or Hudson now. Maybe if they were still alive, the U.S. car business would be in better shape!! I hope you agree with that!!!!! Besides, I wouldn't mind a 1956-8 Golden Hawk in my garage!!! Nor would I mind a 1947-52 Starlight coupe either!!!!
Who the Hell is Gus Wickie?

Packard was in the Black, Studebaker was in the Red, Besides, Packard bought Studebaker. Many automobile history books state this fact.
