I used to LOVE this game when i ws younger, i actually prefere this one to the megadrive version. Thik it was one of the first games i completed back in the day too. Good review :)

a good game. but for me, the genesis version is much better because remember, the sega megadrive/genesis is 16-bit. that means faster. sega master system is 8-bit. and that means slower.

On 50hz though, believe it or not but this is faster than the MD Sonic 1.

In Europe our games are 50hz whereas your games are 60hz. And while I don't know all the technicallities of what they mean, in laymens terms. 50hz games run slower.

So ALL of our classic games (On VC or cart) run REALLY slowly when compared to the NA ones.

And Sonic 1 on the Genesis/MD is so slow, that THIS is actually faster.

This is faster because this was made after the Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic game and because we only get 50hz versions of games on the U.K/EU VC.

The best way to explain the speed issues is any European/Japanese games played on Virtual Console (so anything Master System or specifically Mega Drive not Genesis) will run equivalent to playing the game at 120% speed on an emulator, where as any Genesis games played on a Mega Drive (or on an old European 50Hz Monitor/TV like mine) only play equivalent to 86% speed on an emulator. This means to a European gamer, the Master System game feels 34% faster than the Mega Drive one.

It still sucks that on the Wii, which is basically an emulator, we didn't get the option to play at 60hz because some games are a bit shit when slowed down.

Been playing my PS3 games a lot more recentally. But I plan to move back onto Wii soon :)

And to start going through some of these greats again :)

And hopefully beating new ones, 'cause that's my biggest problem, I'll end off replaying games instead of beating new ones XD

sega could have added a few different stages to this game. it just feels to much like the better very on the megadrive.

I also enjoy the first Sonic on the Master System,it like plattchen is an underated game that few people see the true beauty of.
