  • Dear brother and sisters its good to know hijab for women above 45 or 50 is completely free in islam

  • mashallah what a nice women

  • I think where the lady is mistaken is that she thinks if women dress more openly, they do it to attract men. But it's a great freedom to walk around in a short top and miniskirt when it's 40°C outside or to dive into the beautiful sea in a bikini, so you can feel the water on your skin. We need to feel the sun, the rain, the cold, the warmth on our skin and our head and not hide it. And if we attract the wrong men, so what? Is that our fault? No! That's what self-defence classes are for.

  • @JeanySullivan the creator of sun and beautiful seas order women to cover themselves..because He knows their inner peace is more valuable..and u can enjoy many things in hijab..and in home u've no hijab..i like to ask u a question..y do u want to wear short clothes and bikni either..???without clothes u can enjoy even better..then y do u want to wear them..???

  • @tipu424 I don't believe a creator ordered us to cover us. The reason why to wear bikini pants is hygiene, therefore I wouldn't go completely naked. On a beach were other women don't wear bikini tops though, I might do without it too, but not if I'm the only one. But why do you think inner peace will be compromised if you wear short clothes? I mean, it's just clothes and in the end, they are not immensely important, they are basically supposed to protect us from the heat or cold.

  • @JeanySullivan do u believe in morality..???when u speak truth..u feel inner peace..when u do something good..u feel some inner peace..and do u think only modesty has nothing to do with humanity..now don't question like..is modesty compromised with such clothes..God has kept some natural shyness in instinct of humans..if we ignore it..that's our fault not of Creator..our Creator provide us all these things(food, clothes etc) for our physical needs..and He also guides us for our spiritual needs...

  • She is so sweet. Good bless you sister x

  • She looks like an elegant Queen. That is the first thing that comes to mind when I look at her.

  • if you want to see someone who might be going to heaven, please meet sister Noura.

  • Bismi ALLAH, Ar Rahman Ar Rahim

Her Wisdom and Dignity IS Beautiful, Al Hamdullah.

    Queen Sheba Cisse

  • This is a beautiful massages

  • What a wise woman.

  • Salaam to all...

A very beautiful in depth message from a beautiful woman. May Allah SWT bless her, forgive her and strenghten her. Ameen. Something that all us sisters can learn from and help us not to be a product of society, but a product of Allah to be protected and cherished and to concentrate on the beauty of our souls.

  • She is a lovely person & very sincere; but she neglects to address several issues. Men are under no such cultural obligation, and only are required to be pious in behaviour alone. I see many women wearing Hijab in NYC, they exhibit pretty much the same behaviour as other women of the Middle East or Asia--while more modest than westerners, they laugh, they flirt, they wear eye makeup, often more exotic and alluring than non Islamic women. Devotion to God is the true "hijab."

  • I've researched hijab and islamic culture for a while and I've never heard a woman explain hijab in this way. It's beautiful....

  • Your hijab is very pretty. Salaam sis!!

Also, where did you get it from?

  • u have a pretty pink hijab, and it's wrapped beautifullY

  • I love you, Hajjah, miss you.

  • may Allah protect us insAllah from the deceiving sheitan and his folowers

  • maashaallah. beautiful video sister

  • salam aleikum

this is my favorite video ever :)

    waaleikum salam

  • I like how you described your point of view so eloquently. I would definitely watch other vlogs done by you so please add more! Thank you!

  • why not be a nun Why does it almost always seem that in order to promote islam;there has to be a putting down of western living; Its almost as if they want to ATTRACT(like a magnet)those who believe westerners are evil, lustful infidels What you spoke of are human traits and have nothing to do with religion;you can cover yourself from head to toe in a po- tato sack, and still those who are modest would be modest and those who would be evil would still be evil,no matter what was worn
  • The western world has a strange value system when it comes to women..The women are supposed to look perfect or they feel they have to get plastic surgery,,,very sad..now whon is really oppressing women here?? huh hmmmmm..,why pay thousands on looking perfect when maybe instead you can use the money for your education,,,..something nice such as giving to charity if one has all this extra money...

  • very very good. inspiring :D

  • i love this video.. very well spoken.. i am a muslim woman myself and this is exactly how the hijab is! very very beautiful depiction!!! masha allah! alhamdo lellah!

  • news flash for you...no matter where you live in the world men & women will never be equal, there is reason why women give birth & men don't. women in Islam are highly valued & unlike other men...muslims keep their women like gold. don't insult the prophet either...educate yourself before you speak. oh and i hate to break it to you but...the only 'fuckwit' here is you along with the rest of the uneducated asses

  • "& unlike other men...muslims keep their women like gold"..I'm an "other" man ..i dont "keep" women..i treat them with mutual respect and admiration...i do not consider them an object or metal like "gold" but a person with their own mind and feelings..i do not need to control them..(their sexuality)..muslim women go to lengths to please and look good for their husbands who do not appreciate them as they are always cheating (Bahrain) and doing what they want while wifee is at home. highly valued?

  • highly valued ?.. if you play the role as allowed by your social structure..you will not be outcasted or at worst killed..but that s not being valued..that's being given approval for conformity in the role the men have made for the women. this easy to see as an outside male..all men know this..we joke about women with our male arab comrades...im appalled sometimes by what my arab mates say..it doesnt matter what your wear...most of your men see you as an object ! Western men respect you more.

  • Masha'Allah! This woman speaks so beautiful and she is beauty to look at! May Allah bless her, her piety seems to be inspirational. Masha'Allah. Allah knows best...

  • really, that touched my heart.. i know alot of new muslim wemen with great experiences also.. that is touching and bring the man's head down to pray to god to forgive all muslims and to remove the bad with good deeds inshallah.. by the way, i'm Egyotian living in the middle east and i never experienced terrorism in my town. my country is peacefull, and our sun never faids..!!

  • protection from being judging for your appearance

    instead of ur mind, heart,etc...

  • being judged by appearance is not a muslim only deal.although you wouldnt know these days

  • Bismillah,

I love this sister for the sake of Allah.

I met her at the Isra conference her in Atlanta, GA.

I heard her speak and have nothing but high respect for her.

Alone with her husband Bro. Durkee who also speaks at this conference. Powerful!

I always look to see her face and give her some kind of gift.

May the light of Allah always be seen through her and the wisdom she shares?

  • Such wonderful wisdom....eloquently described-! I have never heard the beauty of hijab and dignity explained in such a beautiful way. May Allah continue to guide such lovely people like this sister to Islam. Ameen.

  • how can we find out about this nice lady? does she have a youtube channel?

  • i agree with everything you said and i am enduring to find inner beauty rather than outer and what you say about the middle east, i believe if it weren't for the idiot extremists, the ME would be a very beautiful place to visit, but nobody from other parts of the world can go there to see the beauty within because of all the ugliness the extremist people show to death

  • The Middle East is not all horror and ugliness. Quite the contrary.

  • I love the video, masha' Allah!!

  • i love this lady=]

  • wow mashallah sis, i totally adimired ur talk..may Allah reward u 4 ur efforts Ameen!!!

  • mashallah !!! THanks!!

  • You made some VERY true and often ignore observations about the way that men and women interact, for whether we recognise what we are doing, it is far too easy to fall into these habits. Thank you so much for reminding us what it is to remember our din... :)

    L'aura

  • Visit thehijabshop. com

  • still not fard

  • it is not accurate for you to say that all women have to wear niqab, and it is not in the Qur'an~ what was instructed for the wives of the Prophet (saw) was not obligatory for all women~ words from Aisha (ra) support what the Quran says~ other women may may choose it~ but you cannot say that it is Shariah~ and there is nowhere where it says that those over 60 are exempt. Your argument that Hajj is like prayer is weak. Allahu Alam~ Salaam Alaikum~ no more arguing

  • Where do you get this 60+ grandmother information?

Men and women would not be commanded to lower their gaze if niqab was obligatory (fard).

the Prophet (saw) categorically forbade both men and women from covering their faces or hands during hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca. If it was necessary that the hands and face be covered at all times, he would not have stated its impermissibility during one of the most sacred points of a person's life.

  • "O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women. If you keep your duty (to Allah), then be not soft in speech, lest he is whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy or evil desire for adultery, etc.) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honorable manner...

  • ...And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, and offer prayers perfectly (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah wishes only to remove Ar-Rijs (evil deeds and sins, etc.) from you, O members of the family [of the Prophet (SAW)], and to purify you with a thorough purification." (Al-Ahzab 33:32-33)

  • the verse in the Qur'an says "Oh you wives of the prophet, you are not like other women" ~ it was specifically referring to the wives of Muhammad (saw) ~ not all Muslimahs

  • Dear ShariaOnly, whwre in Noble Quran you find anything about covering the nose and mouth? Where in saheeh hadith you find anything about covering the nose and mouth? Hijab means "covering" where you find the source of bedah as you write? please answer I am very interested what proof you will give to your words

  • When I found my strength to break free from Islam, I had realisation that Prophet Muhammad had shackled me to deny me diverse richness that is life. Please read the Qur'an, Hadith and the Sunnah and ask to yourself if this religion is compassionate or cruel, just or unjustice, decent or depraved, good or evil. That is all I ask, for you should know the terrible truth.

  • MashaAllah!

  • masha allah! beautiful, wise words!

  • ALLAH RAZI OLSUN

  • What about men? Why shouldn't they wear hijab? Aren't women naturally attracted to men? Can men not be sexual objects to women? Does society not have an ideal image of what a man should look like? Are men immune from the influence of today's fashion houses? Are women not sexual beings? Why shouldn't the whole world cover up? Why only women?

  • yes men has hijab too. men is supposed to cover between their belly botton to down to their knee cap. this is men's hijab. also wearing sexually attractive clothes;like wearing tight panths and other things are also forbidden for men. thanks for your questions.

  • I understand that HerseyKardeslik, but some women wearing hijab are literally covered from head-to-toe and some of them are made with beautiful and exotic fabrics that are very attactive, while others are not. Still, this is a big difference from what men are required to do. On what basis SHOULD men relieved of having to do the same? Many people would argue that tight pants are not sexually attractive at all.

  • It might be that you've just conviced me to convert to Islam I was thinking about it for couple of years

  • ..But if ye forgive and overlook, and cover up (their faults), verily Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [partial 64:14]

Those who slander chaste women, indiscreet but believing, are cursed.. [partial 24:23]

And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not 4 witnesses (to support their allegations) - flog them with 80 stripes; and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors; [24:4]

  • Islam commands kindness to wives. :)

    بسم لله الرحمن الرحيم

"O you who believe! It is not lawful for you that you should take women as heritage against (their) will, and do not straiten them in order that you may take part of what you have given them, unless they are guilty of manifest indecency; And treat them kindly; then if you hate them, it may be that you dislike a thing while Allah has placed abundant good in it." [4:19]

  • Peace. :) If you read sincerely the context is disloyalty and ill-conduct, also mentioning "seek not against them means (of annoyance)".

  • The qu'ran states that men dominate women (4:34) and can beat their women into obedience. How can any woman with some dignity and self-respect voluntarily submit to such a violent religion that treats women like shit?

  • you know why. Coz she studied before she convert.

you just following what other said and never did a research by yourself.

  • befriend a real life Muslim sister and find the answer you are searching for my Anti christ, misguided sister#67

  • The Creator Knows the psychology of attraction between men & women. Men are visibly attracted by the hair and physical beauty of the woman. The woman knows that and will adorn herself to maximise that attraction. Allah commands that the men lower their gaze from sinful lusts and keep away from sinful acts. Women are told to cover their adornments and safeguard their modesty and chastity. It has helped save many marriages :)!

  • My previos message was for "rigga80" who is an idiot... Respect for you noor478 and the Muslim mother-like on this video.. JazakAllah Khair!

  • Dear Mother-like, and Dear Sister,

    All MY Respect to you...

    Wassalam Alikum Wa Rahmatullah..

  • You stupid ignorant, is this how you treat your OWN MOTHER.. DIDn't you learn how to treat elderly people... YOU Stupid!!

  • U should be ashamed of what you said... she is has the same respect as your mother... you might as well say these things 2 your own mother coz your a demonic inhumane piece of trash

  • My comments were directed to rigga80...

  • Mashallah that color hijaab suits you just random but I had t say sis

  • people do what they like, if they want to wear it then let them. Having said that, however if a women does NOT want to wear it then that does not make her less of a woman that anyone else.

  • good question let´s see wich answer he/she has i think you get no answer because he/she don´t know what to say now

    salam

  • i pray allah forgive you for your ignorance the devil catched you bevor look at the blessed peaple have such talents like michael jackson, cat stevens a many other if ´this is not a reason you can think about nobody can help you you just dont want to think youre so ignorant what can i do its like i try to put water in a full glass that dont works just look how nice we talk to you after you say such bad things we are the good people salam by the way iam a germen with hijab

  • Mach Allah ! i love how she talk, so peace, Mach Allah

  • Allah forgets .

  • This is hypocrisy. Women wear hijab to appear modest - yet they choose slinky, silky, sensuous fabrics and pretty colors and patterns. If the idea is "not to attract" then all hijab should be dull, colorless, ugly fabric.

  • yes your right women in uk wear hijab yet they wear tight jeans to show offshape of their sexy ass.

  • @MLalah Can you elaborate on that? I find your comment so interesting. Do men find the pretty colors, pretty fabrics, and ect attractive?

  • "Firefighters told the Saudi press that morality police forced girls to stay inside the burning building because they were not wearing the head scarves and black cloaks known as abayas that women must wear in public in that kingdom. One Saudi paper said the morality police stopped men who tried to help the girls escape the building, saying, "It is sinful to approach them."

Fifteen schoolgirls are burned to death Friday, 15 March, 2002

  • i think women should not be forced to wear hijab ,if any woman wears hijab ,she should be stripped naked by police and made to march in streets naked,as punishment for covering up.

  • so if ur mother or sister one day wishes to wear hijab should she be stripped by police and marching down the streets naked?

  • law applies to all .wearing hijab is i think disgusting women should show how sexy they are.if they ugly its ok to cover up

  • what if some people think of ur sister or mother as sexy? should they go out in mini skirt and show it off to every man?

  • if they are sexy ,good for them, being sexy is not crime.if allah gives a woman nice figure she should appreciate and allow others to see.

  • so u wouldnt mind men perving on ur sisters or mom? man thats sick!!!

  • You dont see that the hand you hold is the hand that holds you down. Your an old woman that did not live love or do what you wanted. You are closed and close minded. Live a little before you tell others how to live.

  • You are implying that if you did not have this scarf that people would rape you. So your using this scarf to stop men from having sex from you when you dont want sex. That is a great view of other men. And if you dont look amazing dont even try.

  • beautifully said

  • I am tired of being asked to understand.

  • Cacher ce cheveu que je ne saurais voir !

  • Mary Wore Hijab, Nuns wear hijab!!! There must be a good reason behind it. Why non Muslim people disrespect Hijab wearing women and think they are oppressed when our and their Mother figure Virgin Mary Peace and blessings be on her, wore that. People need to be open-minded and respect other religions. I am a male, I have a high regards to ladies who wear the modest hijab 'Islamic dress' covering the whole body. May Allah Bless you and reward you for what you go through from ignorant people.

  • The hijab is not imposed by islam. It is the way people dressed centuries ago. Women wearing it in the western world are just wearing it as a political signal, not for the so called religion. By the way something like allah does not exist. You are the ignorant one.

  • Manshallah, may allah be praised. Allahu akbar, allahu akbar-now we will have more unidentifiable female martyrs for operations in civilian areas. The dumb woman, lets convert more of these stupid western women.

  • haha, you are an idiot. manshallah? you dont even know how to spell it! you are not very good at spreading misinformation yet. even if you did spellit right, people who know Islam will know you are an imposter! by.

  • When a woman is covered she thinks of sex much more than if she isn't because of increased curiosity and fantasy. The main point: It's what's in the heart that matters and not some superficial covering. It's very natural to make mistakes and learn from them rather than hide who you are from the Animals (i.e. men). Yes, long hair for a woman (or a man) could be sexy for some people but don't assume all men are animals. If the ones you deal with are animals, then change the environment.

  • so making mistakes and learning from them is having random flirting, wonderfull

  • wow, that first sentence is absolutely unprovable, and im sure in reference to most Muslim women, is entirely false. and we live in this world, and sometime you never know when your around an "animal" or how a man thinks of you. its better to protect yourself with hijab.

  • i am enlightend, mashallah, i had NOT EVER THOUGHT OF THAT. ive been wearing hijab 4 about 3 or 4 months now, and i never realized, that i may still have certain mannerisms that betray my hijab.

  • Mashallah :)

  • Masha'Allah,

jazakAllah khair for your efforts, that is the nicest way I have heard thus far the Hijab being described. You said it for all of us who cover or want to cover this is a choice we make...that brings us closer to Allah (swt) fee amaan Allah

  • Masha Allah she is beautiful, I love her way of speaking her words of truth, so smart masha Allah

  • mashaAllah sister, you look beautiful in the headscarf!

  • Mashallah Sister. Thank you for posting this. May Allah continue to bless you.

  • What does that have to do with this video?

  • Jazaki Llahou koulla khayr, sister..May Allah, the all mighty bless and reward you for implimenting his odrer...This actually the most beautifull and powerfull argument I've ever heard about this issue!

  • Im jewish but ive always liked and agreed with the idea of hijab. I think its much more true to what the original jewish people would have worn. I like jilbabs as well and i think they have a way of looking beautifull and modest at the same time. I wear a modified version of it myself and im always really aware of how much better i behave with it on. i think it should be encouraged ..

  • Wadhah, your misunderstanding is because you have given an incorrect translation of the Quran verse 24:31. The part about not striking the feet comes much later and it is; Wa la "YADRIBNA BI-ARJULIHINNA" liyuAAlama ma yukhfeena min zeenatihinna. Read the beginning of the verse 24:31, it clearly says in Arabic, walyadribna bi "KHUMURIHINNA" AAala juyoobihinna, where the arabic word "Khumurihinna" is the KHIMAR, and "Juyoob" is the breast. Ask any Muslim Arab, or scholar.

  • testing

  • Jazak Allahkhair for the Video

  • Even Mary wore the hijab? Brilliant. Even cavewomen wore animal skins. How far back do you want to go? Islam is a reactionary philosophy that feeds on the weak minded in search of easy answers.

  • Really? Does this women seem weak minded to you?

  • this blessed sister is NOT weak minded

  • Islam has been there since the time the WORLD BEGAN. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, Solomon, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, were all our Prophets.

  • The only error, then, was accepting Muhammad.

  • Prophet Muhammad was a GIFT to mankind!

See the videos 'Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet' (in my favourite videos). Also listen to: The Beloved by Yusuf Islam - great song!

  • quite indeed!! but dude why are sooo many people accepting Islam?? yet another convert?? huh starcatcher?? I mean Mimi? well all those are the same people right?? Fox should really start paying you more man!! you're doing a lot of work for them!!

  • i loved your video my sister in Islam...May Allah swt bless you with Jennah with the Prophets and righteous.

For sisters who are considering hijab...please my sisters...read...Iqra...read and learn about what Islam says you will find the evidence yourself...even Mary (alyhas salam) wore the hijab..if you look through the authentic hadith hijab was mandated...but please study it on your own, it will convince you more than just someone telling you...

  • MasAllah!!!! That was, WOW!

  • she definately explained it in one of the best ways ive heard eva...ver nice may allah bless her and all the other reverts and people who discover islam everday ameen

  • can you please direct me to where in the Holy Quran does it ask for women to wear the Hijab??

  • Have you even read the Quran sis?

  • yes cover to cover. i unfortunately missed the part where it asks woman to wear a hijab...

  • Why do you say that?

  • QURAN asks the PIOUS WOMEN TO COVER UP. Now, if you have any other better solution for this other than the hijab then please enlight us with it.

  • ur asking me for solutions? it says to dress modestly and have self respect. unless u direct me to the passage we might have an issue here

  • See Quran verses 24:31 and 33:59. Khimar is regarded as a head covering, the women used to half cover their heads but drape the ends on their backs, then when the verse came to use the khimar to cover their chest the women of ansar covered themselves from HEAD to toe (See Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

  • 24:31 - "that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands," 33:59 - "O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested."

  • clearly it does not talk about a Khimar. That being said, a Khimar is a face cover. The way you are putting it it is a human intrepretation of the issue. there is no words by Allah that say this

  • Wadhah, read the verse 24:31 in Arabic it clearly says KHIMAR: "bi Khumurihinna" is the Khimar. The Khimar was the head cover tied back behind their necks which used to draped from their heads to their backs. After the revealed verses, the women of Ansar on hearing these verses from their spouses tore material and covered themselves from head to toe, so they were fully covered.

  • we have a big misuderstanding here.. the word in the Quran is "Khumruhinnah 3ala Jeyoubihnnah" which means that they should not hit the ground with their heels to shake their beauty parts to the public..

  • Wadhah, you have given an incorrect translation. The part about not striking the feet comes much later; Wa la "YADRIBNA BI-ARJULIHINNA" liyuAAlama ma yukhfeena min zeenatihinna. Read the beginning of the verse 24:31, it clearly says in Arabic, walyadribna bi "KHUMURIHINNA" AAala juyoobihinna. The arabic word "Khumurihinna" is the KHIMAR, and "Juyoob" is the breast. The Arabic connotation of the word Khimar, has always been understood as the head covering.

  • This women should come and talk at some of the schools in the uk. the way kids dress here is shocking- they look like baby hookers. I dont agree with covering the face or obscuring the shape of a women completely but i think islam and judaism have a lot to teach the young girls and women of today when it comes to the issue of modesty- great video.

  • See Quran verses 24:31 and 33:59. Khimar is regarded as a head covering, the women used to half cover their heads, draping the ends on their backs, then when the verse came to use the khimar to cover their chest the Muslim women of Ansar covered themselves from HEAD to toe (See Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

  • khimar is cover the upper area of the chest..

  • Wadha, read the Quran verses properly, the verse clearly says to cover the Khimar OVER the bosoms. KHUMURIHINNA AALA JUYBIHINNA. The arabic word "Khumurihinna" is the KHIMAR, and "Juyoob" is the bosom/chest. There is another verse in the Quran also explains about the Jilbab see 33:59.

  • In the end Wadha, the Prophet's wives were the best example for us.

  • Yes, I agree that Khimar means a scarf, cloth, dress and it is to be used to cover the chest in this verse. Some elderly women can also remove any item of clothing 24:60.

  • She is also a Sufi, so all you sufi haters realize that True orthodox Islamic Sufism has a revered history within the religion of Islam. There are false sufis and there are real sufis who adhere strictly to the Quran and Sunnah...

  • In ISLAM there is nothing such as SUNNI, SHIA, SUFI, ISMAILI, etc. Its ONLY and ONLY ISLAM, and the one who follows it in totality and rightly is called a MUSLIM [PERIOD].

Follow the QURAN and SUNNAH, thats the BOTTOM LINE.

  • MASHALLAH....GOD BLESS HER.

  • Sr. Noura is a teacher & her husband is Sheikh Nurideen Durki from the Charlottesville, Virginia area. I'm not sure where she's originally from in the US. Mashallah the wisdom in her words and experiences is deep. This video is excellent for sisters & brothers. May she be rewarded for sharing this with us.
