Most states have laws stating that as long as you're driving in a safe manner, or with due regard toward other traffic, you can not be cited. What really pisses me off about this situation is that you were driving a "properly certified emergency first-response vehicle fully-equipped with a trauma kit, defibrillator, oxygen, suction unit, etc." and he still stopped you for actions done in front of another officer! i am a volunteer fire fighter and emt i live in arkansas and we can have as many lights and sirens as we want no we are not aloud to go 100 mph to a call bc thats just stupid however we can go a reasonable speed limit to get to a call but yes it does help when people yield because with a heart attack or stroke victim seconds do count

The least we can do for them is allow them some list and a siren and yield to them when they turn on said equipment. Even if you don't agree with the lights, by slowing down their response time, you could potentially cause the death of or serious injury to the person they are trying to save.

i live in south jersey. thats not right for that cop to do that. you have lights and sirens. your an emergency vehicle. NJs blue light laws suck anyway. they say your only aloud 1 rotator or up to 3 LEDs if your a volenteer. no matter what state you live in you should be aloud a siren and as many lights as you want. you going to save somes life and/or property. you need to get to th secene or station the fastest and safest way possiable. thats what i believe anyway.

He was going to a life or death situation that means the officer needs to shut his trap say im sorry go back to his car and let them go with out a ticket the officer doesn't know the law or how to handle a traffic stop so hope he gets reamed in court and the tickets go away

First off, In most states, the Officer issuing the ticket does not have to personally witness the incident. Second, even if it is a certified first responder vehicle, officers aren't always informed that there are certified first responders in the city limits. I am an officer and a volunteer first responder. (I know, Im a trader) I know for a fact, not all the officers in our county know that we have certified first responders... Although that cop was being a dick.....

The cop was being an ass for writing the ticket, I dont understand why anyone would right an ambulance a ticket while responding to an emergency, I could definitely agree when they are not. If the ticket gets thrown out it will not be because it was an ambulance but because the issuing cop did not witness the violation. An additional thing to take into consideration is that the cop in the video might just be handing off a ticket a nother cop issued. Tickets can be mailed, they can surely passed.

I cannot say honestly my opinion on this regarding your driving but yes... you are allowed to travel through an intersection with lights and siren's if you stop and ensure it is safe todo so before. However that is on a state level (correct me if im wrong). I was told by a state trooper once that all emergency vehicles are required by law to abide by all standard traffic laws however civilian vehicles must yield to them at all times? That law is sort of unclear...

dude that's crazy! I can't believe a cop would honestly do that. But even if you had a siren your allowed to go through traffic lights after stopping to make sure it's safe that's part of having a siren (code3). AMAZING how cops are acting to volunteers.
