Then around a year later the stones were beginning to form again and she had a really bad uti once more and passed away :( Yes, we still have Armani :)
The cage gauge is small enough such that the cats can get their paw through the wires, right? Otherwise it wouldnt make sense for the volunteers to be standing so close in the videos?
It also seems that whenever the volunteers are around, all the cats want to do is find a way out to eat you :)
@sadgreen The spaces do allow the cats to stick their paws out, even the lions and tigers can do this, so this is why we are a strict no contact facility and have a great training program :)

Just to prove the point of the sanctuary. My parents used to live in Winnipeg Manitoba. Their neighbor had a puma. He always had it tied to a tree in the front fenced in from a baby. Eventually a bit of blood came out, resulting the cat it tasting his blood. Within seconds the owner was dead & in pieces. He had it for over ten years since it was 6 weeks old & bottle fed.
where can i buy a big cat? can i buy a big cat at your rescue? see, i want to buy a cheetah... I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THE LICENSE AND AALL OF THAT CRAP!! sorry about that, but answer this Q: where can i buy a big cat?
@Warriorcats66 The whole point of bigcatrescue is to take big cats out of homes and other places they're neglected.. they are not meant to be pets, they're meant to be in the wild =/ If you wish to admire the cats up close and personally, go visit them in Florida or just go to a zoo.
@Warriorcats66 are you serious?? you come to a BCR vid to ask you can find a cheetah to pet?? you ask them to tell you where to find an animal that's gonna be declawed and enprisoned in a cage?? WILD ANIMALS ARE MENT TO BE IN THE WILD! NOT IN YOUR BACKYARD!
The efficiency of their camouflage is actually amazing. Wherever they stand, it just works (as long as they don't move). The black ones seem to have an advantage in deep forrests or at night. I've read that in highest parts of Africa, like on the Kilimanjaro sides, black animals like cats or even monkeys have more representatives than in lower lands.
I love the work that BCR do. What I have to know though is did Armani come to BCR with that name? Seems a bit wrong that an animal would be named after a clothing designer brand. I won't even wear Faux fur out of principle, much less approve of naming an animal after a clothing brand.
is big cat rescue like open to the public so you can go up neer the cage and see and learn about them or is it just like only staff can see and waTCH THEM??
Yes, we're open to the public mon-sat, we offer guided 1.5 hr tours, feeding tours, keeper tours, photo tours and night tours! For more info please visit BigCatRescue*org :)
Leopards are the super athletes of the cat world. I know they're not as big and powerful as lions or tigers but to me they remain the most impressive of all the big cats, and the most mysterious.
I don't agree with one part of Bagheera's bio on her BCR page...that she "may not be the most attractive leopard"... I think she's a very beautiful cat! Did her mate, Adonnis, pass away? I didn't see his bio page on the BCR site.
Bagheera is a cute cat just like the rest :) She recently had one of her eyes removed however. Adonnis is still her roommate, they are separated at the moment so he doesn't lick her wound, but they will be back together in no time :)
I wish I could use the beautiful BCR screensavers, but unfortunately I have a Mac and they're not compatible. And I have Verizon, and they don't permit use of your awesome ringtones! *sigh* maybe someday, guess I made the wrong choices in technology! LOL
Anyway, can't wait to visit the beautiful leopards!
Yep, all snow leopards have very large tails like this, they are all muscle and can be used for balance when chasing prey down steep mountainsides, plus they can use them like a scarf to stay warm as well!
Cheetaro is one of my fav's too, he's such a character! Sponsoring one of our leopards for christmas is an AWESOME present! Thank you for your support :)
yeah i dont know wut it is about him i just saw him in a video and i fell in love hehe.
ive been trying to get my parents to let me sponser a cat for a loooonnnggg time and im so happy they finally said yes!! i told them its all i wanted for xmas lol cuz i want to help the cats as much as i can and helping them is the best gift i could ask for
Although they are far smaller than tigers and lions I have always found leopards to be the most impressive of the big cats. They are the most beautiful, the most athletic and those who are familiar with the great cats all seem to agree they are the smartest as well. I've noticed that black leopards appear to have bright yellow eyes, while spotted leopards eyes are gray-green. If you folks at BCR are reading this, can you tell me if that is typical of leopard eye colors?
I don't think the eye color differs that much between black leopards and the normal spotted cats, the colors may stand out more in the black leopards though. I agree they are definitely the smartest species we have anyway, always keep you on your toes! :)
The eye color / coat color contrast may account for the perception of a ligher eye in melanistic leopards, true. Still there is a photo of a black leopard in Wikipedia's article on the species that shows a very bright yellow eye. If you've not seen it, look it up sometime. I watched a zoo leopard climb 25 feet up a tree in its enclosure once and was amazed at the fluidity of motion. It went straight up effortlessly like water flowing uphill. They are amazing athletes.
Yeah the contrast in the wikipedia photo is strong, think it's all down to different lighting conditions etc.. though. They are awesome climbers, all our leopards have big trees in their enclosures they can climb, they can carry prey 3 times their own body weight into the top of trees!
I really like leopards. In fact they are my second favourite big cat just below tiger. I think part of the reason why i love them because they r so secretive. Like tiger, they got very attractive fur. Although I constantly mistake leopard for jaguar or vice versa, but i do think leopard looks cuter than a heavyset dog-like jaguar.
Black leopards? I thought there are only black jaguars!! I know they are often called panthers. geez, these two species are too similar. they shouldn't be divided.
Very true, the most reliable way is to look at the rosettes, the jaguars have a spot inside the rosette, but the leopards don't. Jaguars are also more stocky and thicker set than leopards :)
They are a very rare cat, Hercules was zoo surplus and not wanted, while Chloe was actually purchased by someone as a gift for his wife! An example of the trade in these endangered animals which is rampant in the USA :(
They're one of my favorite species too! So smart and agile, keep you on your toes! We have several black leopards at the sanctuary, Sabre in the video is the best :)
Leopards are such a beautiful and powerful animal. I can't believe some people in the world would try to hunt them for fur. Terrible. I wish I could go to BCR sanctuary to see them.
CHEETARO!!!!!!!!! I LOOOVVVVEEEE HIM!!!!!!!!!! i just wanna wrap my arms around him and never let go!! hehe. and aww hercules!!!! hes soo handsom!! i show my friends and family a bunch of your videos and whenever i c hercules i say aw look its herc, hehe i made a nickname for them!! evryone always think its funny cuz i talk about the cats so much, ecspecially TJ and cheetaro:) hehe and i would love to c some more videos of cheetaro:) i love tht big boy, watching him puts a smile on my face :)
I know at the sanctuary just cleaning their cages etc... i would say they are the most dangerous yes. They are the smartest species of cat, quick and agile.
Of course not. In africa, leopards are very hard to find, they always keep their heads down because they are afraid of lions. Tigers, lions and jaguars are bigger cats, which mean they are more powerful and more dangerous than leopards. Leopards can climb trees, but tigers can swim, jump very high and have incredible power muscles. Lions are just too intimidated, leopards usually get chased by the lions in african plain.
The leopard is the most dangerous as far as coming across in the wild. Leopards are the type of cats that will walk up to a human without thinking twice. A lion isn't like that unless it's a male or a pride.
I agree with you that leopard is an endangered cat, but i remember reading some books saying they are near threathened. Tiger is the most endangered one.
Only sizes and coloring. There are subspecies of Leopards but they're mostly the same. Leopards that live in areas where lions or tigers are tend to be smaller, as they hunt smaller prey whereas areas where the leopard is the top predator it tends to hunt larger prey and grow larger in size. . much like how North American Cougars can be twice the size of South American Cougars!
That dosn't make sense. Leopards over where lions and tigers live tend yo be smaller because they hunt smaller prey?but places were Leopards are top predators are bigger?
Tigers are in Russia and India I don't think any Leopards live their. But in Africa their are lions and Leopards aren't smaller Becuase lions are bigger. A lone Leopard can take down anything a Lone lion can. Also keep in mind Because their are bigger predators in Africa other than Leopards. That means the prey's bigger
Dealz, there are lots of leopards in India, in fact far more leopards than tigers. Both have been man eaters at times. There is no evidence that the presence of lions or tigers has any effect on leopard growth. In both India and Africa they range from 60 lbs to 200 lbs. They usually hunt at night, while the bigger cats hunt during daylight, thereby avoiding conflicts; however, both lions and tigers have been known to kill leopards if they get the chance. Leopards are my favorite big cats.
I read many books about big cats, they all say that wherever there are many tigers and lions, there will be fewer leopards around. Coincident? I dont' know, but i know leopard can't take down a size of a tiger or lion.
Tiger is the most hunted animal in Asia, and their meat, fur and products are the most expensive that's why they are so few left in the wild. Leopards hunt at night and remain elusive, so they get fewer chance to be captured and killed.
How does it not make sense? Leopards fall into a niche where lions and tigers are around. The reason why leopards are such successful predators are because they can fall into niches so well and can adapt. They don't need to compete. Look it up. Leopards that live among lions and tigers are smaller. It's the identical story to cougars and jaguars. The cougars in N america are twice the size as in S america. This wasnt the case when the huge N american Jaguar was alive though
I agree with you. Leopard is a smart animal that they can adapt to suit any different type of environement to suvivie. I don't know if i shall agree with you about tigers and lions have anything to do with leopard's smaller size, but i do agree that leopard likes to avoid competition between themselves with other bigger cats. The reason why leopard has a gifty abilityt o climb trees, I guess God wants them to stay away from tiger and lion. Just kidding.
I GOT TO SAY FALSE. Predators don't effect other Predators growth. (PREY) does. Where ever the biggest prey animals are thats where you'll find your biggest cats. And what do you mean Leopards don't compete for Food. If they don't Complete for food than why do Lions kill Leopards on site? To elimate compation. Leopard in Africa are the biggest Leopards in the world becuase they have the most biggest prey items to choose from. Zebra, wildebeest, Gazelle, Waterbuck, Bigger prey=Bigger Predators.
Also the same goes for the N American Cougar and Jaguar. Think about the Prey the North American Cougar has to choose from. White-Tailed Deer, Pronhorn, Bison young, Moose, Wild pigs, even Live stock. The S American Cougar does not have that.
Also even tho the Jaguar is gone from N American. Cougars still aren't the dominate predators in N American. Grizzly bears and wolf (PACKS) are. Their are know Grizzly's or Wolves in S America.
So if what you are saying is true Wouldn't the S American Cougar be bigger than the North American cougar seeing as they would be the top land predators in South American?
What you say doesn't make sense. Think about this Why is the Asiatic Lion smaller than the African lion, It certainly doesn't have any thing to do with Tigers being bigger than Asiatic Lion. Predators siz
They are so cute! Please permit me to visit your establishment and hug every last one of them.

I love the work that BCR do. What I have to know though is did Armani come to BCR with that name? Seems a bit wrong that an animal would be named after a clothing designer brand. I won't even wear Faux fur out of principle, much less approve of naming an animal after a clothing brand.

Yes, we very rarely get to name any cats as they are mature when we rescue them so keep the names they respond to somewhat :)

Leopards are the super athletes of the cat world. I know they're not as big and powerful as lions or tigers but to me they remain the most impressive of all the big cats, and the most mysterious.
OPHIOHANNAH 2 years ago
I don't agree with one part of Bagheera's bio on her BCR page...that she "may not be the most attractive leopard"... I think she's a very beautiful cat! Did her mate, Adonnis, pass away? I didn't see his bio page on the BCR site.
xibalbagrrl 2 years ago
Bagheera is a cute cat just like the rest :) She recently had one of her eyes removed however. Adonnis is still her roommate, they are separated at the moment so he doesn't lick her wound, but they will be back together in no time :)

I wish I could use the beautiful BCR screensavers, but unfortunately I have a Mac and they're not compatible. And I have Verizon, and they don't permit use of your awesome ringtones! *sigh* maybe someday, guess I made the wrong choices in technology! LOL
Anyway, can't wait to visit the beautiful leopards!

Yep, all snow leopards have very large tails like this, they are all muscle and can be used for balance when chasing prey down steep mountainsides, plus they can use them like a scarf to stay warm as well!

cheetah38fan 2 years ago
Although they are far smaller than tigers and lions I have always found leopards to be the most impressive of the big cats. They are the most beautiful, the most athletic and those who are familiar with the great cats all seem to agree they are the smartest as well. I've noticed that black leopards appear to have bright yellow eyes, while spotted leopards eyes are gray-green. If you folks at BCR are reading this, can you tell me if that is typical of leopard eye colors?
GDR352 2 years ago
I don't think the eye color differs that much between black leopards and the normal spotted cats, the colors may stand out more in the black leopards though. I agree they are definitely the smartest species we have anyway, always keep you on your toes! :)
BigCatRescue 2 years ago
The eye color / coat color contrast may account for the perception of a ligher eye in melanistic leopards, true. Still there is a photo of a black leopard in Wikipedia's article on the species that shows a very bright yellow eye. If you've not seen it, look it up sometime. I watched a zoo leopard climb 25 feet up a tree in its enclosure once and was amazed at the fluidity of motion. It went straight up effortlessly like water flowing uphill. They are amazing athletes.
GDR352 2 years ago
Yeah the contrast in the wikipedia photo is strong, think it's all down to different lighting conditions etc.. though. They are awesome climbers, all our leopards have big trees in their enclosures they can climb, they can carry prey 3 times their own body weight into the top of trees!

Leopards are the coolest cats of all and black leopards are the most exotic looking creatures on the planet. I love watching them move.
GDR352 2 years ago
I really like leopards. In fact they are my second favourite big cat just below tiger. I think part of the reason why i love them because they r so secretive. Like tiger, they got very attractive fur. Although I constantly mistake leopard for jaguar or vice versa, but i do think leopard looks cuter than a heavyset dog-like jaguar.
Black leopards? I thought there are only black jaguars!! I know they are often called panthers. geez, these two species are too similar. they shouldn't be divided.
AdvertChild98 2 years ago
i just can't tell leopard and jaguar apart easily. They are SO alike!
AdvertChild98 2 years ago
Very true, the most reliable way is to look at the rosettes, the jaguars have a spot inside the rosette, but the leopards don't. Jaguars are also more stocky and thicker set than leopards :)
BigCatRescue 2 years ago
leopards have longer tails too, that always helps me

lol the snow leopards have such fat tails!

i was wondering, won't it be better for the cats to have
one of their own together in one cage?
such as, two tigers in one cage, wouldn't it be better
for them?
like, to have a friend that they can actually reach and play with,
rather than seeing them through the bars?
of course, i am aware that some cats just likes their private,
and appreciate more their alone time.

how do snow leopards deal with that Florida heat?
mrkv39 2 years ago
They can escape the midday heat, we provide them with air conditioned dens and are obviously more active at dawn and dusk like all the cats :)

I thought they were like extremely rare or something :o
noxzorz 2 years ago
They are a very rare cat, Hercules was zoo surplus and not wanted, while Chloe was actually purchased by someone as a gift for his wife! An example of the trade in these endangered animals which is rampant in the USA :(

I've heard that the leopard is the most dangerous out of the big cats, is this true?
KillaKushTv 2 years ago
I know at the sanctuary just cleaning their cages etc... i would say they are the most dangerous yes. They are the smartest species of cat, quick and agile.
BigCatRescue 2 years ago
Of course not. In africa, leopards are very hard to find, they always keep their heads down because they are afraid of lions. Tigers, lions and jaguars are bigger cats, which mean they are more powerful and more dangerous than leopards. Leopards can climb trees, but tigers can swim, jump very high and have incredible power muscles. Lions are just too intimidated, leopards usually get chased by the lions in african plain.
AdvertChild98 2 years ago
The leopard is the most dangerous as far as coming across in the wild. Leopards are the type of cats that will walk up to a human without thinking twice. A lion isn't like that unless it's a male or a pride.
KillaKushTv 2 years ago
Oops, sorry.
I agree with you that leopard is an endangered cat, but i remember reading some books saying they are near threathened. Tiger is the most endangered one.
AdvertChild98 2 years ago
im not talking about dangerous in the sense of tiger vs. leopard.
KillaKushTv 2 years ago
Is there any true difference between African and Asian Leopards?
jgkdhj 2 years ago
Not really.
BigCatRescue 2 years ago
Only sizes and coloring. There are subspecies of Leopards but they're mostly the same. Leopards that live in areas where lions or tigers are tend to be smaller, as they hunt smaller prey whereas areas where the leopard is the top predator it tends to hunt larger prey and grow larger in size. . much like how North American Cougars can be twice the size of South American Cougars!
BeN790450 2 years ago
That dosn't make sense. Leopards over where lions and tigers live tend yo be smaller because they hunt smaller prey?but places were Leopards are top predators are bigger?
Tigers are in Russia and India I don't think any Leopards live their. But in Africa their are lions and Leopards aren't smaller Becuase lions are bigger. A lone Leopard can take down anything a Lone lion can. Also keep in mind Because their are bigger predators in Africa other than Leopards. That means the prey's bigger
Dealz1988 2 years ago
Dealz, there are lots of leopards in India, in fact far more leopards than tigers. Both have been man eaters at times. There is no evidence that the presence of lions or tigers has any effect on leopard growth. In both India and Africa they range from 60 lbs to 200 lbs. They usually hunt at night, while the bigger cats hunt during daylight, thereby avoiding conflicts; however, both lions and tigers have been known to kill leopards if they get the chance. Leopards are my favorite big cats.
GDR352 2 years ago
I read many books about big cats, they all say that wherever there are many tigers and lions, there will be fewer leopards around. Coincident? I dont' know, but i know leopard can't take down a size of a tiger or lion.
Tiger is the most hunted animal in Asia, and their meat, fur and products are the most expensive that's why they are so few left in the wild. Leopards hunt at night and remain elusive, so they get fewer chance to be captured and killed.
AdvertChild98 2 years ago
How does it not make sense? Leopards fall into a niche where lions and tigers are around. The reason why leopards are such successful predators are because they can fall into niches so well and can adapt. They don't need to compete. Look it up. Leopards that live among lions and tigers are smaller. It's the identical story to cougars and jaguars. The cougars in N america are twice the size as in S america. This wasnt the case when the huge N american Jaguar was alive though
BeN790450 2 years ago
I agree with you. Leopard is a smart animal that they can adapt to suit any different type of environement to suvivie. I don't know if i shall agree with you about tigers and lions have anything to do with leopard's smaller size, but i do agree that leopard likes to avoid competition between themselves with other bigger cats. The reason why leopard has a gifty abilityt o climb trees, I guess God wants them to stay away from tiger and lion. Just kidding.
AdvertChild98 2 years ago
I GOT TO SAY FALSE. Predators don't effect other Predators growth. (PREY) does. Where ever the biggest prey animals are thats where you'll find your biggest cats. And what do you mean Leopards don't compete for Food. If they don't Complete for food than why do Lions kill Leopards on site? To elimate compation. Leopard in Africa are the biggest Leopards in the world becuase they have the most biggest prey items to choose from. Zebra, wildebeest, Gazelle, Waterbuck, Bigger prey=Bigger Predators.
Dealz1988 2 years ago
Also the same goes for the N American Cougar and Jaguar. Think about the Prey the North American Cougar has to choose from. White-Tailed Deer, Pronhorn, Bison young, Moose, Wild pigs, even Live stock. The S American Cougar does not have that.
Also even tho the Jaguar is gone from N American. Cougars still aren't the dominate predators in N American. Grizzly bears and wolf (PACKS) are. Their are know Grizzly's or Wolves in S America.
Dealz1988 2 years ago
So if what you are saying is true Wouldn't the S American Cougar be bigger than the North American cougar seeing as they would be the top land predators in South American?
What you say doesn't make sense. Think about this Why is the Asiatic Lion smaller than the African lion, It certainly doesn't have any thing to do with Tigers being bigger than Asiatic Lion. Predators siz
