One problem that these antenna's have is that they will eventually begin to splinter after a few years of being whipped back and forth in the wind . If you have ever wondered what its like to grab A hold of splintered fiberglass with your bare hands, I can tell you from personal experience that it is extremely painful when those tiny Shards of fiberglass get into your fingers. I would strongly advise wearing a pair of leather gloves before you grab a hold of yer wind whipped Antron 99 antenna.
If there is one thing that antenna is, Durable. I have one in Houston, Tx. It has survived numerous storms, 1 Tropical storm, 2 Hurricanes, Heat, Cold, Everything the enviroment can throw at it. Been up for 7 years now with no problem. Just need re-tuned for the first time since install.
