As the engines start, if you look carefully you can see the airstream from the tail blowing a spot clear of water to the side of it. Cool video as always!
its an air rotor (not sure thats the right name) , air is past through the tail boom and fired out the back at an angle, the rudder pedals control the speed of the airflow which controls the Yaw on the helicopter. yea its complicated
all of Britains's air ambulances are paid for by firms like virgin, express newspapers etc and by members of the public putting money in buckets and tins, next time you see them collecting give them some money
The second engine starts at 51 seconds in the video, the change in sound at 2.03 is the pilot going from flight idle to full operating rpm. The pilot will then gradually raise the collective lever to get the helicopter light on its skids (2.33) and once stable he will continue to raise the helicopter into the air.
Hi James, I was going home when I heard EHMS circling overhead. We had some pretty bad weather at the same time, lightning and hail etc..
All the videos are filmed on my Casio Exilim (EXS-600) compact camera. It's pretty good, but the only problem is you can't zoom in/out during filming without losing quality (digital zoom).
Yeah, it looked like the weather had been pretty bad, I hope you didn't get caught in any down pours! That camera takes some great video, my little K800i phone isn't great for vids but takes some pretty good stills. I hope all is well in good ol' Blighty! Chat soon.

not all have sponsors, some work with the police, i.e. the police fund half the cost, and the other half is funded by charity
Cackles4EVA 2 years ago
well the last time I saw this helicopter it was landing in a field next to the motoway where around 4 cars were upside down and around 6 people died
AirSquirrel1 2 years ago

Fantastic video quality. It's a shame our governments are too tight to even consider these services.
SonicOverlordUK 2 years ago
Well I personally thing thats a good thing. Last thing we need is our governments trying to take them over.

Has anyone notice The Virgin logo on the side?
Why hasn't Government paid for services like this?
aussiekwv 2 years ago
Visa Logo? Yeah They Are paying fore badwith.
pcsbyte 2 years ago
aussiekwv, because the air ambulances are run by trusts and as such get no money from central government. . .

Not sure why you're getting thumbs down. Its a perfectly reasonable question actually.

Nice video!
Not many people can say they've landed a heli in Trafalgar Square. I'm sure they both crew looked at Nelson as they rose past him.

Hello kertappa,
I was there at the same time and shot the same scene. But I still don't know what happened that day.
Do you have any idea of the reason of all that?
enniofranco 3 years ago
Hi enniofranco, sorry I'm not sure what happened, but hopefully everyone's ok..
