  • @M3ssageT4k3n no one is playing "right traditional," you were mislead by the mirror. There are only two players, however the mirror makes it look like there are four. You can tell by the symmetrical image as well as the huge camera in the reflection.

  • TERRIBLE ESPEJO.. SOLO HABIA 2 BANANAS! JAJAJA!!!

  • Very nice!! Love heretas off the left, those are very fun. What type of pad is that??

  • why is one guy playing right handed trad?

  • @M3ssageT4k3n notice theres a mirror, douh!

  • @goodnamepending o lol duh

  • Dear everyone that wants to bitch:

Yes this vid is ""garbage." It's dirty and the techniques are all way different within the same unit. So there are changes needed. Idk who posted it and I don't care. The point of the vid basically defines terminology with visual and audio devices to in itself be a basic manual for commonly used material within the unit. I made one for the Marine Band I was in to give to new members. There was a point to it hence the BDUs

  • What does Hereta mean? What does hereta grid have to do with??? I don't understand this!

  • took me a while, but i finally noticed that there is only 2 guys.

  • Dear everyone that dislikes this video:

Learn hertas. Then, come back and like this video.

  • thank you for your services, i solute you.

  • i just noticed...there isnt four guys, its a mirror!

  • I love the pads

  • america sucks

  • Did Remo donate those to you guys? You better not have had to buy a $200 dollar practice pad for everyone when you're risking your lives for our country.

  • @Schmehschmeh98 I doubt it. It costs well over 200$, and for that price you could almost get a full Dynasty snare. Plus, it is as loud as a real marching snare. You should get the invader instead. You can get it for about 60-70$. It is much quieter, has a good feel, and a good rim.

  • @VerySnowy I just got the invader and its AMAZING

  • The pad is a Remo TSS snare pad

  • what music store can you get the remo tss pads at?

  • Hereta or Herta?

  • ok i cant find this pad anywhere. Will someone please tell me where to find this and please tell me prices

  • Out of your opinion, is the TSS worth the money?

  • The pads are Remo TSS pads. They simulate a real marching snare. They have a high quality remo grey marching head, and a marching snare inside of it. PLease thumbs up so people see.

  • Holy crap... 2 did traditional, and the other 2 did traditional on the right hand, and clean... Oh wait... Whoops. That was a mirror.. Thanks for your services, and fantastic chops.

  • What pad a is he using?

  • WHAT IS THAT!

  • Lmao no it's a really clean mirror I thought the same thing

  • @zxxrawrxxz None of them were right hand. it was a mirror idiot.

  • @Collinthecruel no shit thats exactly what i just said "no its a really clean mirror" can you not read? I was replying to M3ssaget4k3n the comment below mine.

  • @zxxrawrxxz My apologies, I was meaning to send it to m3ssaget4k3n as well. Sorry.

  • wtf right handed traditional?

  • They arent actually in the serveice (yet). They are at a military academy. But I agree, chops are nice.

  • @fltopp1 You don't become an E-6 by not "being in the service yet".

  • @alskoy Unless he is an instructor, E-6's dont go to academy's except NCO school or a Staff NCO school. And academy's do typically have some sort of rank structure.

  • I see that my tax dollars have went to that 300 dollar pad...

  • @DANIELSCALVIN I'm sure you'll get over that lost .00002 cents soon...

  • Thumbs up if you thought at 0:30 that there was four snares

  • Who the hell isn't making those guys do pushups all day for playing a backwards traditional grip. Really guys? Come on! :O

  • @donnielp3

No one is playing backwards...There are 2 guys, face to face, with a mirror next to them. The camera is facing the mirror (you can see it in the reflection).

  • what pads are these

  • What pads are those?

  • SWEET heretas!!! is there really such thing as traditional grip in the right hand? i always thought it was forbiddennnnnnnnn

  • @phtheph Is there really such thing as a mirror?

  • @phtheph

    its a mirrored wall -_____-

  • @boydrumsonwhat army secret? lol

  • I wish I would have known I could have played the marching snare drum in the military before I joined... Must be nice

  • oh... its just a mirror... i though two more people were just weird playing off their left.

  • it's spelled hertta

  • @jammustardj no it isn't

  • You can tell this guy's been playing on a rope-tension drum; look how high off of the head his hands are.

    Love these guys, btw.

  • @boydrumsonwhat Remo TSS I believe.

  • thumbs up, if at first you thought there were four of them playing

  • Sir I thank you for your services, and fantastic chops.

  • @1SlashRocks1 You wouldn't thank him for his services if he were makin' your burgers in McDonald's and playing gigs down at your local bars, so quit this, "Thanks for your service!" shit.

  • @PhilR720 Wtf? No shit he wouldn't be thanking him for his services if he wasn't in the military...

  • @theaws0m3guy And that's wrong. Our military does NOTHING to defend us. We are an offensive army. We haven't fought a war out of self-defense in generations. That, and the country's ignorance toward actual military process, are among major reasons why I did not re-enlist after my 6 years.

  • @PhilR720

So instead of serving your country, you're trolling on youtube.

    Good trade.

  • @jstinch44 Yup, when "serving your country" means "beat people into submission," I'd much rather spend my life in non-violence. Sorry dude, but seeing shit getting blown up gets old rather fast. Assisting murder is not a good way to make a living. Maybe if we went back to being a defensive nation and not a warmongering bloodlust ill-informed freak show, I'd re-up. But, seeing as we've only used our military as political stunts and leverage lately, I think I'll pass on being a human poker chip.

  • @PhilR720 Look, serving your country is helping to defend and protect everyone and everything within it from any threats whatsoever, not assisting murder, and obviously, you lack the education to understand that.

  • @Schmehschmeh98 You just have no idea, man. Spend some time in one of those uniforms before talking to me about lacking education on the matter. Again, note that our country has not used its military defensively in generations. You wanna serve the country, then you wanna join Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army, (all of which I'm a part of) and be active in your community. Feed some people. That serves your country WAY more than marching around on foreign soil.

  • @Schmehschmeh98 And grow up -- soldiers are not supermen.

  • @PhilR720 Eh, shut the fuck up and suck my wang, dumb bitch.

  • @1SlashRocks1 And it's people like you that back the military. That's why I got out.

  • that pad is bullshit and over priced

  • what pad is that

  • Best pads I've ever seen

  • @BandWestPoint The PR1 or PR2 Paul Rennick models? Thanks in advance.

  • HURTA!!!

  • Nice Pads!

    What are these?

  • @boydrumsonwhat Remo TSS with a Foam Insert, I believe.

  • @boydrumsonwhat remo tss pads. in my opinion dot get it its 200-300 around the price range its not worth it its expensive cuz it has an actual drum head

  • @boydrumsonwhat Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure these are made by Remo and I think it starts with a T. Like TSS or something.

  • @boydrumsonwhat Top secret military pads of course!

  • @CardinalGlitch LOL!!!

  • @boydrumsonwhat remo tss or somthing like that

  • @boydrumsonwhat remo tss

  • @boydrumsonwhat

They're special ops pads when you go to West Point

  • @boydrumsonwhat

    REMO TS-1010-SN

  • @boydrumsonwhat military grade practice pads.

  • @boydrumsonwhat remo tss pads

  • @boydrumsonwhat I think it's the remo tunable pad

  • @boydrumsonwhat It looks like a Remo TSS

  • @boydrumsonwhat Remo TTS.

  • @boydrumsonwhat Remo TDE from the TSS line.

  • what kind of pad is that. and i love how you guys are using the old school traditional grip. i prefer the ld school version compared to how we hold it today

  • Love the mirror effect. Good to see everything about your technique

  • Much respect to you guys

  • @GalagaKing

We typically use Innovative FS-2 or Paul Rennick models.

  • @BandWestPoint Paul Rennick's the man. I have to say I'm bothered by your right hand technique. It looks really wristy. Is that just cause you're playing slowly or what?

  • @quadmaster89 Thanks for checking out the video. Technique-wise in this one, I'm just thinking about staying relaxed and having a smooth even stroke. The wrist "pop" you see there is a natural converse reaction to moving the fulcrum area downward, and vise-versa, if you move the front of your hand up, the wrist goes down. You can try it by holding your hand out as if you were gripping a stick, and pretending you're playing some singles. Watch the wrist action.

  • @quadmaster89 Also you can see more wrist action in SSG Jeff Prosperie's video "Drumming Fast Singles with Accents" at around 4:22

  • @percussiongyal

It's a Remo TDE (Total Drumming Experience), part of the TSS line of instruments they have.

  • whats the name of those pads?

  • What brand and style of stick do you use?

  • at first I ever saw the mirror!

  • Yes ANOTHER DRUMMING SOILDER! I wish i had have known the army had at west point i would have signed up for more years

  • Awesome! How do you guys like the Remo TSS?

  • @optsyn

Thanks! The pad is nice. Its a little tricky to tune the sensitivity properly, but obviously much more articulate and realistic than a typical pad.

  • how do you write a hereta on a sheet?

  • @BrianWilson720

Typically two sixteenth notes and two eighth notes. We plan to post the music for the grid on our website under the "drumcats" page.

  • @BandWestPoint Actually, the rudiment is called a "herta" and is typically written as two 32nd notes followed by two sixteenth notes.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Thanks for checking out our video. I've seen plenty of different ways to spell the name of this pattern, but I've always preferred to spell it "hereta". Here's the reason - adding the extra "e" in there makes the word have three syllables, therefore correlating better with the three beats of the pattern. It's a personal preference, but that's my reasoning behind it. It seems as if the two syllable "hurta" promotes a distortion of the rhythm.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Also, the defining characteristic of the hereta is the relationship between the first group of two notes and the following two notes. The first two are exactly twice as fast as the second two. In other words, you can write it many ways, including your suggestion, my earlier suggestion, and others. This also will be dependent on tempo of the passage. For instance, two eighth notes and two quarter notes could be called a hereta at an extremely high tempo.
