@theskater1975 **SPOILER ALERT** Angel blood? Where did you hear that? According to the books, Sookie's father was a fairy and her grandfather is a fairy king. That's why she has abilities and that's why vampires find her irresistible -- they are drawn to fairy blood. It's like a drug to them.

good review mate :) i think the books are brill, just right amount of everything. I dont understand the mentions of whining though, i think that it is harris referin to her telepathy, if she didnt mention it, it would be as though she has forgoten a major element of the story especialy as it is narated by sookie herself

I was going to buy the whole set for my daughter since she liked the first one so much, but then i found that it was sexual. are all the books of the series have sexual content? if so can u rate it more, same, or less amount then the first novel?

Hi there. I've read the first nine books and all of the novels have probably about the same amount of sexual content. They do get rather hot and heavy at times. I would say these books probably aren't appropriate for teens. But, that's just my opinion.

@HeatherFeather141 some are more, some are less, so they average out. I think its ok for kids to read about sex if you explain your morals about it and talk with them about it. I was reading books with sexual content starting around 13 and did not turn into a sexual deviant Although she does have multiple sexual relationships, she isn't slutty about it. She talks about the right and wrong of it, and its fantasy.

Does anyone else get tired of her whining?

I enjoy the books so far. I'm on the fourth or fifth. But I'm getting pretty darn tired of her complaining about her super powers.

Would anyone have liked superman if he had constantly said he couldn't be friends with anyone because they couldn't fly? or would you be friends with someone who said they couldn't be friends with an amputee because they couldn't hold as much in their hand? It's silly and getting pretty old.

Does she ever just knock it off?

That's the reason I stopped watching the tv show "heroes" is because they never just get on with being amazing. They have to whine and complain about how terrible it is to be amazing. I guess I wish she'd just shut up and get on with things from time to time. Who knows what she could do if she didn't spend so much energy being conflicted all the time?

You should check out True Blood. It's actually quite good. It uses the books and the characters as a jumping off point, because they did change some things.  I think Anna Paquin does a nice job as Sookie. I've read up to book 9 and I really like the series but it isn't perfect.

The show is how I found out about the books!

And it's more of a group focus in the show. I like that.

Plus, lafayette's still alive in the show! I almost stopped reading the books when he died. Even though he didn't do much in the books. He is by far the most interesting character they have in the show. And I like the fact that the show sookie has someone to talk to in tara. It makes the self isolated world of sookie a bit less desolate.

Well, I don't know if I'd agree that Lafayette is the MOST interesting character but he is a lot of fun. And Tara is, of course, completely different in the books than on the show. In a way they are two completely separate things, except for the fact that the TV show is based on characters, situations and ideas that were created by Charlaine Harris.

OMG I am on the second book and almost done and they are amazong . if you ;love the books check out the tv show True Blood Based on them. I love the books me and my 3 friends love them .we all read the first and are on the second one!

Keep going, they get better and better. I've read the first nine. And yes, True Blood is a great show. Although they do deviate quite a bit from the books. So if people are tuning in expecting them to follow the books exactly they may be disappointed.

Nice review. I just finished Club Dead, and I really am hooked. The HBO series is very good though.

But am I the only one who is a bit disturbed about Bill pretty much raping Sookie in the trunk?

Well, there are more than a few scenes where the sex between Sookie and Bill gets a bit rough. But I guess she must like it that way, since she doesn't complain. She's a pretty strong willed character. If she doesn't like something she has no problem with letting you know, regardless of the consequences.

Catch up dude. I've been buying Harris' books thru advance purchase.

I did love the books. I guess they were silly and enjoyable. The HBO series has definitely taken the material to the next level. It is interesting that given all the vampires and were literature in romance or fantasy why Ms Harris' books were selected. The territory that they exist in is certainly not of her making there plenty of folks writing in her universe.

You do learn something. You learn why people keep seeing Elvis.
