@seargantbecket009 I think a more accurate description would be gas is funneled into the bolt carrier pushing the carrier back (expansion chamber being from the gas rings to the skinny part of the inside of the carrier where the firing pin buts up against it) causing the cam pin to unlock the bolt which then follows the carrier back. Even videos showing the gas usually stops it at the key which isn't accurate either.

you have to study multiple examples, and become familiar with what's going on inside a gun. fully understand each component one by one, start with the trigger. pulling the trigger releases the hammer, which is spring-loaded so that it has enough force to hit the back of the firing pin, which moves forwards and strikes the back of the cartridge, igniting the powder inside the cartridge case and propelling the bullet forwards. the explosion releases gases, which power a piston.

When A bullet is pushed into the chamber by the bolt, the extractor snaps on the the right side of the the base of the round. Its why bullets have the lip on the bottom.

The Americans relied on mere precision, yet the maintenance still is a pain in the ass, and the firepower is not what you'd call enormous. 7.62 really is more ... thorough, when it comes to penetration. Still don't know why some of the newer AK versions use the 5.56 NATO ... maybe in case of invasion, who knows ^^

@mrmurdahlic I've shot M16s, I've shot AK47s, I've shot 50 cals with Acog 6x48 scopes. But that doesn't really matter, the simple fact remains that AK-47s are an inaccurate piece of weaponry. If you knew your weapons before you came on here bashing me, you'd know why. And it's pretty simple, all you have to do is look at the construction of any stock AK-47. From the close sight positioning to the long bolt that rocks the whole weapon violently and throws off the shot. Do some homework.
