  • I LOVE MY 1996 MONTE CARLO HAS A 3.1 V6 WITH 142,700 MILES AND MY WHOLE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HAS A LIFETIME WARRANTY THROUGH MY RACING TEAM ACCOUNT AT CHEVROLET

  • My dad gave me his 95 mont Carlo z34 and I'm planning on restoring it, if anyone knows where I could find a supercharger for the stock 3.4 please message me it would be greatly appreciated btw I live in Canada so I will not pay for international shipping :P

  • very good bro, im going to get you look at 96 ls when im done with the body work, its going to be very unique, its going to have something in common with the 87 monte ss.

  • I want one

  • ive seen the lifted 4x4 white one with the 3 painted on the side in person at some mudd bogs around where i live. it tear shit up

  • I have the title that says its an SS. even the owners Manuel and everything that came with the car Say 1997 Monte Carlo SS. It is a Special edition. the car was bought brand new by a family member.

  • @XxJoshxX420 Run your VIN through Compnine dot com. it will decode the entire thing, show you which options the car came with and which trim level. I can almost guarantee your VIN will decode it as an LS.

  • @Z34teen I did. its an SS. I have a limited edition

  • @Z34teen yep josh is right, they didnt make an ss in 97, on 96 it had the 3800 supercharged, and there were very few of em. Its an Ls if anything and mine is a lss lol how many parts its got on it

  • i have a 1997 monte carlo SS and it is an SS. I havnt seen another one built like mine though

  • @XxJoshxX420 I've been over this before. There was no SS from 1995-1999. They were LS models with the L replaced with another S and then sold to stupid people who didn't do their research. The only models were the base model LS and the true SS-equivalent, the Z34. Run your VIN through Compnine dot com if you don't believe me.

  • i have a 1999 Z34 swapped out the 3800 for a L36

  • @GavinSpenceR18 the 3800 IS the L36... I believe you mean the L67, the supercharged 3800...

  • @Z34teen you sir are correct my bad

  • @GavinSpenceR18 I respect the power outputs of the 3800 variants and how much they can put out when tuned, but I just can't like them. They're outdated, sound like ass, and don't pump out enough to justify their displacement. And I've dealt with both an L67 car (1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP) and an L36 car (1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL). I'll take any of the twin cam W-bodies any day over a 3800 one.

  • of all these Monte's i didn't see an SS like mine... it's time i get a video of mine and put it up. Mine is a real '99 SS. yup even the registration says it's an SS. it's been in the family for 10 years and I still have never seen another one

  • @Obsoliit 5th gens were never made as SS's, There were ONLY 2 trim levels. LS, which had a soft suspension and a 3.1L V6, and the Z34, the equivalent to the SS, which had a firm suspension adn either a 3.4L twin cam V6 or a 3800 V6. You got robbed.

  • @Obsoliit ok, that did it, i'm putting my car on youtube

  • @Obsoliit Any "ss" models that were made weren't factory ones. Usually A dealer woul take an LS model. pull of the L, and put on another S and sell it to some stupid customer who didn't do enough research telling them it was a limited model when in fact it was BS.

  • @Obsoliit In fact, go to compnine.com and put in your VIN. It'll decode everything and tell you exactly which RPO codes it has.

  • My first car was a 1995 Monte LS. I got good use out of it for two years, but the head gasket was blown and oil was mixing in with the anti-freeze, all around just a whole bunch of things were going wrong, but the good thing is i got 201,000 miles out of it. lol. Im gonna miss that one so much. Great video!

  • Great video. Anyone know where to pick up some good looking head and tail lenses can you send me a link? 'There isnt alot out there to choose from I take it..

  • @rtdunford Tail lights, you're on your own. But there is a guy on mymonte.com who will make you LED tails out of your old tails.

Headlights? Just go on ebay and type in "Monte Carlo (or Lumina) headlights" and sift through the factory replacements. You'll eventually find clear lense chome or black housing ones. Other than that, there isn't anything lights-wise.

  • got a 97 z34 an i love it

  • i have an all stock 1996 Monte Carlo LS White. I love this car It's my first car. It has 82,000 miles on it. and its a Michigan car. So yea it does have a little bit of rust on the rear quarter panels. But Most of that has been taken care of. I'm looking for a red or black 1998 Monte Carlo Z-34 with low miles. I wanna mod it out.

  • @xtreme01hac10docter lol i just got my monte today haa and its my first actual car! its a 99 LS blue! bad thing is the tranny is slippin and it has 198,000 miles on it :( but im gonna rebuild the engine and put in a new tranny so all should be good!

  • not the best looking car in the world idk

but i like the history you have with your car gives you more passion for you car

when you get old and still have this car your mom will always be right there treat it nice dont give it rim dont do crazy body graphics and whatever you do keep all stock stuff

  • The thing i love about the z34 models is the double double exhaust. An the fact that all four of them work. I hate seeing cars or trucks with just double exhaust but only one of them works. Its stupid. But i love my z34. Great great make by Chevrolet

  • i think would be cool to have a Z34, but theres no way in hell im getting the 3.4. its an absolute nightmare to work on, and the 3800 is more reliable and has the traditional OHV setup, yet still has only slightly less power than the 3.4.

  • i was suprised not to c my car in there lol, and i no a few of the guys in this vidieo

  • ohrah to the 5th GEN MONTE!!!!!

  • a question to all i have a 99 monte carlo wit a v6 3.1 i want to beef it up but dont know were to start .

    it will help alot

  • most would opt for swapping out the 3.1L for a 3.8L supercharged V6 out of a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP or Buick Regal GS, but if you want to keep the 3.1L, there are a few things you can do. do a 3400 Top Swap with parts from a 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am V6 or 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero V6. Than you can treat it as a Grand Am and use the Grand Am's vast aftermarket to your advantage. it's all out there.

  • i have a 97 monte carlo and it has a big chrome strip about a foot wide down along both sides of the car...ive seen alot of cars that look like mine but no chrome strips..why iz this..

  • You have an LS base model which had chrome trimmings all around the car. The Z34 trims level had black trimmings, a more powerful engine (0-60 in 7.5 seconds), and a more pronounced lower air dam, presumably for better front downforce. The ones without the Chrome are the Z34 high performance variants. Harder to find than a normal LS, but well worth it.

  • oh cool..so all the other montes i c r faster lol..dayyum i think its tight that i havnt seen 1 like mine and i been thru vegas and kansas city lol

  • i got me a 99 Monte Carlo,, i have absolutely 0 complaints

  • Just saw this video again and I wanted to say, thanks for showing my Monte at the end there! It was fun burning some rubber in my buddy's drive way, lol.

  • oh no problem. It was a good photo. It's a fun car to do that in with that exhaust note.

  • i love montes cos there sooooo cool

  • i prefer 4th gen myself

still its a monte so nice car

  • My '99 Monte LS (3.1)has well over 100,000 miles and still runs great! I DID have the manifold gasket replaced at 50,000 because the Dexcool ate it! Now, I flush and fill every two years. I wash and wax often and it has paid off with NO RUST, although the roof and hood is a bit faded. My friends think I'm crazy because I want to repaint the entire car and put in new carpet. The car has been SO good to me!

  • ill go with the eclipse. but i have a 97 monte and its slow as hell unless u fix it up..

  • that depends. LS or Z34? The Z34's were no slouch and are pretty quick for their size and weight.

  • Rather have that Thunderbird in the video to be honest.

  • i got a 97 monte and i love it but my brother has a 98 eclipse so to defryer1 if ur looking for speed and alot of mobility id go with the eclipse but the monte def. has a tun of potential. Hope this helps

  • I have one of these bad boys, a 1998. Very nice cars!

  • i got a 97 ls a while back the plan was to fix and sell itand after fixing intake upper and lower and some other issues i have never had more fun in a car than this great potential easy car to work on and accelerates faster than my 91 formula firebird wouldnt trade the monte for the world

  • hey can anybody tell me if this car really have any ... potential ( u know for modds and stuff) cuz im gettin a monte ss 96 for 21000$ mexican pesos and i dunno ....im between a 98 eclipse turbo and that monte ss 96 !!..... please help me to decide!!!!

  • there was no SS model from 1995-1999. Trim levels were only LS and Z34 (Z34 is the equivalent of the SS). The Eclipse Turbo, I've had friends own and the engines are crap. There is an aftermarket for the Monte Carlo, but it's very limited, but to answer your question. It has loads of potential. Most people swap in an L67 (supercharged 3.8L V6) as there's a huge aftermarket for the engine.

  • if these were RWD... yyyeah

  • wow can you tell me were the car at 2:12 got there body kit?! its amazing

  • around 2:18, that black/orange monte has a blacked out back up light bar(that is usually white) and ive been looking for one forever. Any help?

  • that's actually the stock one with spray on tint. It's a product called "Niteshade" i believe you can pick it up at any major auto parts supplier in your area. Careful though. it's illegal in all 50 states.

  • shouldnt be illegal if i just do the back up lights, rights? its not interfering with the brake lights at all.. dunno, i'll ask my cop buddy. oh and thanks

  • ive got a 5th gen, ive brought it to greatness, its been featured in 4 magazines, 2 commercials, i have a room of trophies, the whole works. come check it sometime and if u ever need vids or pics or anything just lemme know

  • Very interesting. Can you email me scans of the magazines? PM me for my email.

  • i love my monte carlo z34 i've beat so many v8's in it they are faster than people think

  • Believe me I know. They're often underestimated. but as the song goes, "If all you see is how I look, you miss the superchick within. And I christen you Titanic. Underestimate and swim" ("One Girl Revolution" by Superchick)

  • yeah theres so much hate for the 5th gens, kinda sickening actually thats why we gotta stick together and put those bitches in place

  • exactly. I just recently started modifying my Z34. Starting with the stereo... little things first. I'll eventually do a complete engine build. I refuse to do an L67 swap. I want to see just exactly what my LQ1 can do.

  • check out milzys motorsports and u will see what can be done. if you can get past all the problems you might have something. far as stereos go i have 6 12's in the trunk and about 5000 watts total. if u need links or info or anything on the car hit me up

  • I know about Milzy. Have for a while. But even they don't offer much, if anything, for my 3.4L DOHC V6. I'll have to save up cuz the aftermarket parts will have to be custom built.

  • thats a complete waste of money on a engine thats known to have a ridiculous amount of problems. go for the l67 or northstar v8 swap will be a ton cheaper and give u more then u will ever hope for out of that engine

  • it may be a waste to u but not to me. I refuse to go northstar or L67. Too common and too often worshipped for retarded reasons. I want to see what the LQ1 can do. I see something in it alot of people don't. untapped potential. I know of 2 LQ1 turbo cars with 500HP. I know it has potential.

  • to each his own, but ill stick with whats tested to be good and spend like 80% less

  • lol. fine. follow the crowd instead of blazing you're own trail. ^_^. the L36 had similar output but couldn't compete with the LQ1 until a supercharger was added. The Northstar might as well be said to be a descendant of the LQ1. No one respects the LQ1 and I'm out to show just what it's capable of.

  • or i could blow ur mind with this blown flathead v8 i wanna put in the car?

  • outdated 1960's technology. yawn.

try a blown dohc 24 valve V6 and i might be impressed then.

  • if i thought the engine wouldnt fall apart like the shitpile that it is id try it. and as far as i know anybody can throw a bolt on blower on that engine, but if you truely wanna be unique and "blaze your own trail" u gotta do something noone has ever done.

  • the LQ1 isn't a shitpile. sure it has maintenance issues but that's it. that doesn't make it a shitpile. I only know of 1 supercharged LQ1 and it's in this video. It's reliable and won't fall apart. all complaints about the engine pertain to how hard the maintenance is. no one has the patience for it. People are afraid of a little hard work. Blood, sweat and tears are worth more respect than ordering from a catalog and just bolting things on.

  • im talking about the oil leak problems where chevy bolted a plate over where the distrubitor used to be, the timing problems, the overheating problems, ect... but its cool i seriously honestly do with you the best of luck in this, but if you know of another you arent being unique, thats why im not doin the l67 again or the northstar swap im going with something noone has even dreamt of before. not caring about fast i want the wow factor. i got my camaro if i want fast lol

  • haven't had leak problems or timing problems. Overheating problem, i am currently fixing. oh and i have a quote: "F-bodies: For when a mullet doesn't cut it" lol. no 2 cars are exactly the same. I'll find something different to do... I don't know of any twin turbo LQ1's ^_^

  • i saw one on this show called "pass time". but keep us updated with what u get and where u find it

  • @Z34teen maybe more people would find the LQ1 worthwhile if there wasnt an L36 that had already built up a reputation for being bulletproof, made almost the same amount of horsepower on a pushrod valvetrain, and usually was a breeze to work on. if i had to own a LQ1 powered car, i think i would have to pick the cutlass supreme. at least the timing belt is slightly easier on those than the later luminas and monte carlos.

  • you dont like 6th gen monte carlos?

  • I don't have anything against them. Actually, I'd love to own a 6th gen. But I own a 5th gen and have more experience with them. I would love any year 6th gen SS... if i could afford one. I am working on a 6th gen tribute but i keep restarting cuz I don't like th eoutcome... i'm a perfectionist

  • cool, if you want a picture for your slideshow let me know, i have a 6th gen LS

  • fuck nothing speacial fuck you bicth 5th gen til i die

  • Oh really? V6 engine that took down v8 powered Montes of old and slick styling aren't unique? You just don't want to admit the V6 Monte Carlos are better then the V8 versions have EVER been. Which generation exclusively had a DOHC 4 Valves per cylinder engine? oh right. 5th generation. get ur head out of ur ass redneck.

  • Good video man, I watched it thinking I would see one like the the one i used to have. Stock . . But remodeled by Roman Chariot. I loved that car. to bad some stupid bitch women destroyed it. . . All black with Gold wheels, Gold Pinstriping. Gold Emblems. One of a kind where I live.

  • I took that pic at :47 haha my engine looks pretty different now : P

  • Drive an '02 SS, but I still don't get why they made them Front-wheel drive... :/

  • If it was so good they would'nt of droped it again in 2007. and there is nothing speaical about this car. I love Chevy but this car is nothing to get a boner for, it just like any other coupe. Sorry.

  • it wasn't advertised right from the start. but it is a special car. Most people i talk to about it didn't even know the car had an existence after 1988. but the reason it was canceled is because GM was canceling the W-body platform and they didn't have an immediate successor in the pipeline. the only surviving W-body car is the Chevy Impala, which is also slated for cancelation. They will likely be replaced by the GM Epsilon platform.

  • There is nothing speacial about Monte Carlos, plus I dont count this as the 5th Gen. because it was dropped in the late 80s, it starts over. It should of had another design, it looks like a lumina. so basically its a lumina Z34.

  • nothing special? Bullshit. when released, it was faster than any stock 1980's Monte... with a much smaller engine.. And the keyword to your explanation is "Should've". this further establishes the FACT that the fifth generation Monte Carlo is the 1995-1999 body style on the gen 1.5 W-body optioned with either the 3100 (offered all years), 3.4L DOHC LQ1 (1995-1997) or the Buick 3800 series II (1998-1999).

  • Hey man, cool vid. Z34 was my first ride. Not many people would take the time to restore one but I think its cool! Keep up the chevy love!!!!

  • I owned a 1995 LS model.With he 3.1 L engine and a rear spoiler.She was bright red with premium wheels.

  • I just got my first car. Its a '98 Monte Carlo with only 72k miles for 1659$ can't wait to make it look like it should be in this video.

  • ide rather have a lumina, same car....but i like 4 doors better

  • Good, Emo kids deserve to be punched! ^_^

  • im not to worried about the speed factor tho,if i get one its just for show, the one i use to haul ass is the 07, and the 96 I drive gently and the 05 is the one i drive the most...My sister currently has a spot in my garage since im at school but its cool cos she's got a monte also...Monte's are just the way to go, no doubt about it.

  • Monte Carlo's are friggin amazing cars...My first one was a 1996 LS, and I know have an 05 SS and an 07 SS... and i love them like crazy, but ive had the 96 since i was 16 (now 19) and its my favorite monte

  • let's see... that means you have the 3100 V6, the 3800 series II supercharged and the LS4 5.3L V8 Monte's... what? the LQ1 3.4L DOHC not good enough? lol... I have a '95 Z34 and I love that 3.4L... DOHC FTW!

  • yep, im working on a monte collection (if you couldnt tell)haha and honeslty the first time i saw one i thought they were ugly..but then i saw the 96 and i fell in love with them and have been a fan ever since

  • minbe's a hand-me-down from my mom but I love it all the same... Mine was babied most of it's life. Let's see... you need a monte with the 3500 V6, the 3900 V6, the LQ1 3.4L DOHC and a regular 3800 series II V6 to complete that collection of W-body Monte's

  • Great video. Good job. Thats my Z34 at 2:58

  • That was just a pic I snagged off car-domain to finish the video... I got desperate (I don't like to leave a project waiting long)

  • Its no problem at all. Im actually happy you used my pic.

  • thanks. everyone has been so cool about this video and me using pics of their cars (w/o permission, some with permission) I made a few more 5th gen tributes, I just haven't put them up. I might delay the second one getting put up (worryed about flames about my song choice)

  • Go ahead and put them up anyway. Who cares about the songs, lets just see the cars!

  • hay you got to see mine 98 monte rear wheel burn out with a small block chevy!!! its on u tube. nice video i marked it as a fav...
