True its 25 years older, however since those companys are financially independent through exports (and MiG still sells quite well), MiG didn't really accept that the Sukhoi T-50 was choosen for a stealth design. They continue to work on their own stealth fighter (without governmental funding), the Mikoyan LMFS project. Its hard to gather facts about it, but its there as is the J20. The F22 is up for some serious competidion.
As maneuverable as the modern jet fighters are today, even if they did get into a dog fight it would be a stalemate because they wouldn't be able to get a lock on.
Starting with the Mig-29, many aircraft of today can lock on aircraft just by looking at them - German Mig-29 have shown in training against F-18's that this was a decisive advantage in dog-fights as the aircraft did no longer have to align their radars with the target.

@pilotmaterial Actually, Mig-35 and Su-35's manuevering is nothing compared to Eurofighter or F-22. Eurofighter, for example, can pull 9+G at supersonic speed, while the Russian planes would not even dream of such feat. F-22 can acquire target with AIM-9X at 220 degree angle in less than 0.5 second for target within 15 miles range (target acquisition to fire is less than 2 seconds).
@looxgood : I wont argue with you in fact I do agree 100% I'm just a massive fan of Migs and Russian birds in particular! I'm x-Airforce and I flew Migs and just adored every second of it! But between the Euro Fighter typhoon and the F-22 I'd take the Typhoon into combat any day! BUT The Typhoon and the F-22 Cannot do a Stop-Halt-Cobra maneuver even close to the SU-37 just cant!
@pilotmaterial Don't get me wrong, I am also a fan of Mig-29. I flew with RCAF between 1996~98 with 135 CH. Trained for CF-18 but ended up flying F-16C for USAF in Germany. Cobra manuever is not so well used in actual ACM - it bleeds off energy and takes more than 10 seconds to regain to combat energy stance - what USAF pilots figured out was to counter cobra, all you have to do is a Yo-yo (Lag-Pursuit Roll) - you still have higher energy and height and still are at Sukhoi's tail.

And you're right about the long recovery with the Stop-Hault maneuver I lost a good friend in a plane crash he was a Ukrainian pilot and was undergoing a Training Sortie and in a Dog Fight Senario he tried to do a Stop-Hault and get behind the aircraft and they we're flying very low he stalled fell back clipped a wing and didnt even have enough time to bail out! Seems the large wing surface in such angels doesnt allow for the slats to work!
@pilotmaterial But I think the advantage of Su-35 (and other Sukhoi) really is in the stand-off-engagement in group. Sukhoi generally has higher wing loading factor, and are able to carry higher number of AAM in BVAC situation, thus, has a good chance to negate the incoming hostiles (even more so than F-15C or upto F-16 Blk 52). But then again, my favourite Mig would be NOT Mig-29 or Sukhoi, but venerable Mig-25.
@ANimouz Actually no. Su-35/30 (all Su-27 based series) cannot pull more than 5G above 780kt due to structural limitation. Mig-29/35 can pull up to 6G at 800kt, but not recommended due to the fact that not enough air will not flow into engine (its all aero dynamic issue). Its interesting though how some aircraft can do some manuever at a certain speed - EF2000 is designed to pull 9g at supersonic, but cannot pull more than 4G below 300kt!!!!
@looxgood Where do you base all this facts? Are those official reports? The only official report I have is that when German EF-2000s went up against Russian Su-27SMs they were beaten badly! (It was an incident including an AWACS over NATO airspace), The report said that the Su-27 engaged at a supersonic dogfight with the EF-2000. After successfully locking up on all of them the German and Norwegian F-18C left the area. Su-27 is the most manueverable plane currently in the world.

The only incursion of Su-27 into NATO space was back in Sept 15, 2005 of 177th IAP Su-27P '12 Red' crashed in Lithuania, upon entering NATO-controlled airspace - The only Su-27 incursion into NATO airspace to the date. And German Air Force has never deployed Eurofighter to Lithuania. Also, Norway does not have any F-18C, they have F-16AM/BM as main aircraft which will be replaced by F-35 by 2015.

Beautiful. I absolutely love watching the nozzles move on that thing. I'm a big Western aircraft guy but this is one airshow act I would almost travel to Russia for.
I'm still waiting for the VF series of fighters with their GERWALK and Battroid modes. That should be the direction of fighter technology, not the expensive and hard to maintain stealth planes that carry little in the way of ordnance.

First off, from what I'm making of what he said is that Mig-29 is a previous generation aircraft comparing to F-35, although it still can be compared with, so imagine building Mig-29 nowadays, using more up-to-date modern technology, what moreover was done by introducing Mig-35, and second, a lot depends on the pilot.
@alxusmc Still, it doesn't make it an absolute winner. More, and more I hear about this so called 'stealth tech' and it doesn't seem to work as it suppose to. If you look up on the internet, you should be able to find lots of info about how a russian 50 year old or so, doppler radar synced up with a SAM battery, used by some less or more reliable army was able to see F-117 or even shot one down. That thing from Serbia '99 if I remember corectly. Check on 'strategypage'

United States thrust vectoring technology is a joke! F-22 has 2 dimensional vectoring. This RUSSIAN aircraft has 3 dimensional vectoring. Russian fighters are now superior. Wait till Russia couples this with stealth!

@willutw Not all Stealth Jets are useless...what i said was that the F-22 was classified as useless because of it's Systemfailures after 1,8 Hours flight and it's isolation which makes it very hard or even impossible to communicate with the Bases and other Pilots. off course there were system failures it was a newly developed plane and i never heard about any problems with its isolation. If all these were big issues then the us wouldnt be flying them but i just saw one do a demo at an airshow a while ago and it was amazing. The f22 is a superior fighter. It has more thrust then any other fighter jet in the world.

@coolyo366 When I took a look at F-22's Vectors I saw that they're not the same like ours! They can't move left or right...they can only UP and DOWN...that's all. Su-35, Su-37, Su-47 or Mig-29OVT show what how our Vectors are working.
@SovjetPhoenix the f22 went more stealth than out right agility so if it had full vector it would lose some aspects of stealth,it's a comprimise.Su 27-35,typhoon all gone for agility with some aspect of stealth.I'd go for the agility

@willutw And what about hostile Stealth Jets? In a Situation like this you can't locate your Enemy and they can't locate you so the only one left option to send your Enemy straight to hell is a Dog fight and thats the point when a Sukhoi T-50 would kick ass.
We've never seen a F-22 in Combat yet so we can't say what would really happen in a fight between an F-22 and hostile Stealth Jets.
@SovjetPhoenix 360 vectoring wouldn't really benefit the F-22 in any way. Marginally better maneuverability isn't going to change a dogfight...The F-22 nozzles keep IR sig lower as well.

I'm not saying that the F-22 is bad but as we know russian Jets have a better Maneuverability that means they're dangerous in a Dogfight. I've also heard that US Pilots rely on the Technology/Computer etc. while russian Pilots rely on their experience & know-how.

@willutw You really want to know my opinion about the F-22? Well, it's a very expensive Jet with a worser price-performance ratio than a PAK FA, MIG-35 or SU-35 ( all three Jets are classified as 5th Gen. Jets, only the PAK FA is stealth). When will we see it in real Action? It's in Service since 2005, in 5 years the PAK FA will stay in Service and untill then SU-35 & Mig-35 will be in Service. No disrespect but the F-22 won't be used in Action that makes it more or less useless.
@willutw The PAK FA wasn't in Combat yet because it's not in Service...it will enter Service in 2015. Don't know about Mig-35 & SU-35 but i bet Russia tested them in all Situations. The f22 has advanced computers and stealth technology witch is very expensive.
Its not in combat becouse there no need for it to be in combat. It is fully ready for combat. The system crashes were fixed a while ago and so was the communications problem.
@willutw not the worst but bad. I know, this Technology is very expensive but if I take a look on the costs of US military Technology I realize that almost everything is too expensive. The Apache for example is on the same Level with the Mi-28 but it's costs are much higher, it's even more expensive than a KA-52! @willutw Okay the KA-52 is a totaly different type of Heli and it's expensive because of it's unique Technology. But what about the Mi-28? It's on the same level as Apache but it's costs are less. The M4 is not as reliable as a Kalashnikow and there are enough Videos in YT that prooves that. Dirt, Water, Mud makes it hard to work with an M4...if it's jammed it won't shoot. But a AK doesn't care if Mud, Water or Dirt inside of it...it will shoot even if it's burning.

@pilotmaterial Actually, Mig-35 and Su-35's manuevering is nothing compared to Eurofighter or F-22. Eurofighter, for example, can pull 9+G at supersonic speed, while the Russian planes would not even dream of such feat. F-22 can acquire target with AIM-9X at 220 degree angle in less than 0.5 second for target within 15 miles range (target acquisition to fire is less than 2 seconds).

But between the Euro Fighter typhoon and the F-22 I'd take the Typhoon into combat any day! BUT The Typhoon and the F-22 Cannot do a Stop-Halt-Cobra maneuver even close to the SU-37 just cant!

@pilotmaterial Don't get me wrong, I am also a fan of Mig-29. I flew with RCAF between 1996~98 with 135 CH. Trained for CF-18 but ended up flying F-16C for USAF in Germany. Cobra manuever is not so well used in actual ACM - it bleeds off energy and takes more than 10 seconds to regain to combat energy stance - what USAF pilots figured out was to counter cobra, all you have to do is a Yo-yo (Lag-Pursuit Roll) - you still have higher energy and height and still are at Sukhoi's tail.

And you're right about the long recovery with the Stop-Hault maneuver I lost a good friend in a plane crash he was a Ukrainian pilot and was undergoing a Training Sortie and in a Dog Fight Senario he tried to do a Stop-Hault and get behind the aircraft and they we're flying very low he stalled fell back clipped a wing and didnt even have enough time to bail out! Seems the large wing surface in such angels doesnt allow for the slats to work!

@pilotmaterial But I think the advantage of Su-35 (and other Sukhoi) really is in the stand-off-engagement in group. Sukhoi generally has higher wing loading factor, and are able to carry higher number of AAM in BVAC situation, thus, has a good chance to negate the incoming hostiles (even more so than F-15C or upto F-16 Blk 52). But then again, my favourite Mig would be NOT Mig-29 or Sukhoi, but venerable Mig-25.

@ANimouz Actually no. Su-35/30 (all Su-27 based series) cannot pull more than 5G above 780kt due to structural limitation. Mig-29/35 can pull up to 6G at 800kt, but not recommended due to the fact that not enough air will not flow into engine (its all aero dynamic issue). Its interesting though how some aircraft can do some manuever at a certain speed - EF2000 is designed to pull 9g at supersonic, but cannot pull more than 4G below 300kt!!!!

@looxgood Where do you base all this facts? Are those official reports? The only official report I have is that when German EF-2000s went up against Russian Su-27SMs they were beaten badly! (It was an incident including an AWACS over NATO airspace), The report said that the Su-27 engaged at a supersonic dogfight with the EF-2000. After successfully locking up on all of them the German and Norwegian F-18C left the area. Su-27 is the most manueverable plane currently in the world.

The only incursion of Su-27 into NATO space was back in Sept 15, 2005 of 177th IAP Su-27P '12 Red' crashed in Lithuania, upon entering NATO-controlled airspace - The only Su-27 incursion into NATO airspace to the date. And German Air Force has never deployed Eurofighter to Lithuania. Also, Norway does not have any F-18C, they have F-16AM/BM as main aircraft which will be replaced by F-35 by 2015.

No, only idiot can claim something he cannot predict. USAF has what...150 F22s, none of them were sent to Iraq, Libya evend dough these are flat desert countries with AF from the stone age.
I can give you 100 scenarios in which F22 can easily loose agains any 4th gen. fighter. Saying that all it takes from F22 is to spot the target 70miles away, shoot the missile and vansih is just stupid.

First off, from what I'm making of what he said is that Mig-29 is a previous generation aircraft comparing to F-35, although it still can be compared with, so imagine building Mig-29 nowadays, using more up-to-date modern technology, what moreover was done by introducing Mig-35, and second, a lot depends on the pilot.

@alxusmc Still, it doesn't make it an absolute winner. More, and more I hear about this so called 'stealth tech' and it doesn't seem to work as it suppose to. If you look up on the internet, you should be able to find lots of info about how a russian 50 year old or so, doppler radar synced up with a SAM battery, used by some less or more reliable army was able to see F-117 or even shot one down. That thing from Serbia '99 if I remember corectly. Check on 'strategypage'

I think there's a huge possibility that these aircrafts are as good as U.S. product, only the American aircrafts are way more better promoted, and it's, so to speak, down to media to make plp think what or who is better, is it not? Thus, how can you tell that the pilot of F15 did not in fact see the F22 comin way before he got shot down just to prove F22 better?

@willutw Not all Stealth Jets are useless...what i said was that the F-22 was classified as useless because of it's Systemfailures after 1,8 Hours flight and it's isolation which makes it very hard or even impossible to communicate with the Bases and other Pilots. The F-22 is a Propaganda Weapon and not a Jet fighter...or have you seen it in Combat?

off course there were system failures it was a newly developed plane and i never heard about any problems with its isolation. If all these were big issues then the us wouldnt be flying them but i just saw one do a demo at an airshow a while ago and it was amazing. The f22 is a superior fighter. @willutw And what about hostile Stealth Jets? In a Situation like this you can't locate your Enemy and they can't locate you so the only one left option to send your Enemy straight to hell is a Dog fight and thats the point when a Sukhoi T-50 would kick ass.
We've never seen a F-22 in Combat yet so we can't say what would really happen in a fight between an F-22 and hostile Stealth Jets.

I'm not saying that the F-22 is bad but as we know russian Jets have a better Maneuverability that means they're dangerous in a Dogfight. I've also heard that US Pilots rely on the Technology/Computer etc. while russian Pilots rely on their experience & know-how.
What do you think, when will we see a F-22 in Combat? The USAF have 187 of them and never used them against some dumb Taliban...just to see how it works, you know :D

The u.s has always been known for helping other countries. Right now there in Pakistan saving lives from the floods. Were is russia? Remember Haiti earthquake? Remember the fires that are happening in your own countrie? The US gives billions of dollars annually in aid to other countries, provides humanitarian support, forgives the debt of other countries and lends troops in times of military conflict (which shouldn't be confused with invading another country, such as Iraq).

USA is the only Nation which have a Concentration Camp (Guantanamo)..yeah people in Europe call it an Concentration Camp! Georgia attacked S. Ossetia & Abkhasia with BM-21 GRAD and destroyed Zhinvali. They even killed russian UN Forces! Russia answered with a military Operation against Georgia and took over Abkhasia & S. Ossetia. Now both Provinces are independent.

@willutw You really want to know my opinion about the F-22? Well, it's a very expensive Jet with a worser price-performance ratio than a PAK FA, MIG-35 or SU-35 ( all three Jets are classified as 5th Gen. Jets, only the PAK FA is stealth). When will we see it in real Action? It's in Service since 2005, in 5 years the PAK FA will stay in Service and untill then SU-35 & Mig-35 will be in Service. No disrespect but the F-22 won't be used in Action that makes it more or less useless.

@willutw The PAK FA wasn't in Combat yet because it's not in Service...it will enter Service in 2015. Don't know about Mig-35 & SU-35 but i bet Russia tested them in all Situations. They always do that no mather if it's a Jet, Tank, Sub, Missile or a simple Machinegun...they always like to blow something up just to see how effective a Weapon is :D

@willutw The F-22's price-performance ratio is worser than Su-35's. The F-22 is too expensive and wasn't in Combat yet although it's in service since 2005. No disrespect but how can a Jetfighter be good if it's not able or just ready for Combat? I heard a lot about F-22's shortcomings like System Crashes after 1.8 Hours flight or it's isolation which makes it hard to communicate with other Pilots and Bases.

The ratio is not worst.
The f22 has advanced computers and stealth technology witch is very expensive.
Its not in combat becouse there no need for it to be in combat. It is fully ready for combat. The system crashes were fixed a while ago and so was the communications problem.

@willutw not the worst but bad. I know, this Technology is very expensive but if I take a look on the costs of US military Technology I realize that almost everything is too expensive. The Apache for example is on the same Level with the Mi-28 but it's costs are much higher, it's even more expensive than a KA-52! Or the M4 Assault Rifle, not as reliable as a AK(everybody say that!) but it's costs are much higher.

Because US military technology always has some kind of advantage.
The apache also has a very sophisticated computer system whitch costs more.
And again your wrong with your facts the Ka 52 costs the same as the ah64.
The m4 is a very reliable gun and its very accurate. The ak is extrememly reliable but is not accurate.

@willutw Okay the KA-52 is a totaly different type of Heli and it's expensive because of it's unique Technology. But what about the Mi-28? It's on the same level as Apache but it's costs are less. The M4 is not as reliable as a Kalashnikow and there are enough Videos in YT that prooves that. Dirt, Water, Mud makes it hard to work with an M4...if it's jammed it won't shoot. But a AK doesn't care if Mud, Water or Dirt inside of it...it will shoot even if it's burning.

Your acting like the ak is invincible, its not.
The ak is a good gun but a very old weapon. You can install a hole bunch of stuff on the m4 but not on the ak. Like i said m4 is allot more accurate.

@willutw WTF? The KA-52 is a Spec-Op Heli. It strikes and then it's gone before you realize what it was! The Mi-28 is just like Mi-24 classified as a flying Tank. Don't underestimate russian Technology, it's the biggest Mistake you can do.
AK is not invincible but it's the best Assault Rifle ever build, it's so simple even Kids can use it! And no mather how old a AK is the main point is that it's still working.

The ah64 can find 16 enemys at once and choose 8 targets and fire all its missiles at the different targets without the enemy ever seeing the helicopter.Dont underestimate us technology.
The ak is definetely not the best assault rifle ever built. Most reliable? yes
but you cant put many attachments that you could put on the m4.

on the ak 200 The safety selector switch is still the same.
they still dont have a rail and rear peep sight.
Stock does not have adjustable length.
And the foarward rail should be fixed to the reciever.
The m4 has all of these included.
