@Hieagandaus It was located by the main entrance to the right, just after the Hurricane Harbor entrance. I don't know whats there now as I havn't been there since 1998 ! :-)
I got one ride on this early 2003 and no surprise it was gone, Going up the lift hill I remember being terrified thinking it was gonna collapse on the weight of the card because of the rusty metal that had not been taken care of, very rough and one ride was to many. Wish I had a chance to ride it before it got neglected though seems like it woulda been a lot smoother and more fun :)
Seeing how the people that was not tall enough to have their heads above the restraints make me understand why so many people had pain afterwards, but let me tell you this: If people would have strained their neck a bit and kept their head a bit forward, they would not have had problems at all. The park maybe adviced to ''keep your head against the headrest'' but from my experience with rough coasters I know that's what NOT to do.
@psyclonesteve as a former ride op from Revolution I asked about it and that was the very reason they closed it down. JiGe96 Had great advice on that. I do miss that ride.
@JiGe96 so right my friend so right. shockwave at kd beat my head around so much on the first loop i whited out... and i have never once whited out on any of the coasters i have ridden on.
@CSM0fficial That's good. It differs from coaster to coaster, and of course from person to person what is best to do. I just posted that comment to say what usually works best for rough or intense coasters especially with high force from the side. I don't know how experienced you are with coasters of different sort, but in my country we have a launch coaster with REALLY tight layout, so a few of the turns are high-force. Trying to keep your head back was not the best option for my ears (OUCH) =P
@Jensiboy98 It was designed by Giovanola in 1985 for Intamin and Six Flags. B&M actually worked for Giovanola back then before they fored their own company and helped design it. Werner Stengle and his wonderful team handled the complex mathematical calculations.
@Jensiboy98 It's Intamin, but Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard both worked for Intamin before breaking out on their own. This was probably one of their first coaster creations with Werner Stengel helping, of course.
This coaster was originally built as"Z-Force" at Marriott's Great America near Chicago in 1985. I rode it there for the first tme during a senior HS field trip. Gave you a headache back then too. It looks like it was never even repainted even in the last pics of it. It was a very unique coaster, and it had a really cool "uphll" corkscrew turn at the end that really planted you in the seat. RIP, Z-Force/Flashback.
@pkonnoobs Yeah you are right, I have loads of old video's of roller coaster and it certainly is a job, finding the interesting ones, transfering them to DVD and then formatting them for YouTube but as long as people like you are enjoying watching them it makes it all worth while ! :-)
It was located near the entrace of the park, not to far from the ticket admission boths. Don't know the reason why they got rid of it, was a pretty fun rollercoaster to be honest.
I'm glad you enjoyed ite ride. I never rode it without getting a headache. It was a prototype - and there was a reason no others were built. I hate to say it, but no loss as far as I am concerned.
I used to love this ride. I lived in Sylmar, CA, just a few miles away from Valencia and would go to Magic Mountain at least twice a month and a couple of times a week even after work in the summertime. this ride was super fun. i don't remember banging my head but i do remember it was rough and wild. i miss the old days. i was pretty skinny in those days and i think you had to be to get on this. i wouldn't be able to get on now. lol.
I researched it was called Mountain Express, that open in 1973, Flashback replaced it in the early 90's. Shockwave was MM first stand-up coaster that open in 1986 and Psyclone replaced that one in 1991. Now they're all defunct, lol!! Thanks anyway.
Yes, there was Mountain Express and Sarajevo Bobsleds but I thought it was Shockwave that stood on the same sight as Flashback, I stand corrected !. I knew it wasn't Psyclone because I actually rode that while Flashback was in the Park, in fact when I was going to call myself Cyclonesteve somebody already had it as a user name so I decided to pick Psyclonesteve named after Psyclone :-) .
I visited Magic Mountain twice and both times the coaster was standing but not operating so I couldn't say from experience, but I must say it looks pretty aggresive. I will ask my friend Anton who filmed it when I see him !
I'm reliving neck pain just by watching this.

Hear it was crazy rough, maybe have B&M make it.
I think they were involved with this but actually have em make the rebuild and it'd be much smoother
tiki2188 4 months ago
@tiki2188 actually, it's a giovanola ride. B&M used their track design because they first worked at giovanola.

@ItsChadIRL The noice from it apparently distracted lifeguards at Hurricane Harbor so much, it only ran on off-seasons 1997-2003 I believe.
