  • I'm reliving neck pain just by watching this.

  • This ride was supposedly smooth when first built, but it became loud and really rough. Bummer because it was one of a kind.

  • I herd this ride was so painful

  • Why was this ride shut down

  • This ride looked really cool but was incredibly painful.

  • what a flashback into the past..

  • De ja vu and log jammer are all dead and gone

  • they demolished this ride ;( R.I.P did they make a new ride when they demolished flashback?

  • Awesome pov. It's surprisingly steady for how rough that ride is. :D

  • i definetly saw superman the stratacoaster in the background, it was there in 1996 or is it just me?

  • @88jackl Indeed it was there in 1996. It was intended to open that year, but due to problems it did not open until 1997.

  • woah this looks waayy fun!

  • It's Intamin AG.

  • Where in the park was this located?

  • @Hieagandaus It was located by the main entrance to the right, just after the Hurricane Harbor entrance. I don't know whats there now as I havn't been there since 1998 ! :-)

  • @psyclonesteve it was demolished in 2008

  • my mom went on this

  • Wish they would rebuild this! A unique ride, and looks intense!

Hear it was crazy rough, maybe have B&M make it.

I think they were involved with this but actually have em make the rebuild and it'd be much smoother

  • @tiki2188 actually, it's a giovanola ride. B&M used their track design because they first worked at giovanola.

  • sic flags was better back in the mid to late 90's why did they take this ride off whyt did they replace it with

  • Was there another reason (besides restraint complaints) this ride was taken out?

  • @ItsChadIRL The noice from it apparently distracted lifeguards at Hurricane Harbor so much, it only ran on off-seasons 1997-2003 I believe.

  • i miss this ride. so extreme. and never any lines because of how it hurt you if you were an idiot and let your head bounce around

  • headache galore on this ride. i do wish it was still there, though, so other people

could see what i was talking about.

  • This is the only rollercoaster ive ever seen that goes up that fast on the first hill

  • Oh man I remember when I rode this I was like 8 or 9 and man I used to love riding this ride I wish Six Flags would bring it back =(

  • A deeply bizarre ride.

  • bring it back!!! =( i loved this ride, iwas a kid back then and since i was small my head never hitted the restraints

  • loved this ride

  • I got one ride on this early 2003 and no surprise it was gone, Going up the lift hill I remember being terrified thinking it was gonna collapse on the weight of the card because of the rusty metal that had not been taken care of, very rough and one ride was to many. Wish I had a chance to ride it before it got neglected though seems like it woulda been a lot smoother and more fun :)

  • Watching this video like dying in the innards of a worm.

  • this ride seems wickid gay! it like doesnt even go fast!

  • @MrJoshyt12 It may not have been fast, but it had high G-force compared to most rollercoasters.

  • Seeing how the people that was not tall enough to have their heads above the restraints make me understand why so many people had pain afterwards, but let me tell you this: If people would have strained their neck a bit and kept their head a bit forward, they would not have had problems at all. The park maybe adviced to ''keep your head against the headrest'' but from my experience with rough coasters I know that's what NOT to do.

  • @JiGe96 I totally agree with you !

  • @psyclonesteve as a former ride op from Revolution I asked about it and that was the very reason they closed it down. JiGe96 Had great advice on that. I do miss that ride.

  • @JiGe96 so right my friend so right. shockwave at kd beat my head around so much on the first loop i whited out... and i have never once whited out on any of the coasters i have ridden on.

  • @bfrye1990 it seemed to be because i put my head back and relaxed... and i guess thats why the blood wasnt controlled right?

  • @JiGe96 but on viper i put my feet against the cart, put my head back as hard as possible, and the ride is actually fun, and not a headache!

  • @CSM0fficial That's good. It differs from coaster to coaster, and of course from person to person what is best to do. I just posted that comment to say what usually works best for rough or intense coasters especially with high force from the side. I don't know how experienced you are with coasters of different sort, but in my country we have a launch coaster with REALLY tight layout, so a few of the turns are high-force. Trying to keep your head back was not the best option for my ears (OUCH) =P

  • i see why they got rid of this...

  • @lakers6225 they took it out?

  • best thing about flashback was there was never a line

  • that ride looks fucking retarded

  • is it b&m?

  • @Jensiboy98 Werner Stengel I think !

  • @psyclonesteve It was Intamin. Giovanola was the subcontractor.

  • @Jensiboy98 It was made by Intamin when they were with B&M

  • @Jensiboy98 it was intamin

  • @Jensiboy98 It was designed by Giovanola in 1985 for Intamin and Six Flags. B&M actually worked for Giovanola back then before they fored their own company and helped design it. Werner Stengle and his wonderful team handled the complex mathematical calculations.

  • @Jensiboy98 It's Intamin, but Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard both worked for Intamin before breaking out on their own. This was probably one of their first coaster creations with Werner Stengel helping, of course.

  • @Jensiboy98 it was made by intamin but designed by Werner Stengel lol

  • @Jensiboy98 I believe its an Intamin.

  • @chickenybeefytaco it's Giovanola

  • @Jensiboy98 i think i know it now!

  • O.o........

How many people even got off with their arms or heads?

  • @psyclonesteve I love old roller coaster!!!! And seeing on YouTube just make me so happy 2 see them in action

  • this ride sucked so much. I'm glad they tore it down.

  • This coaster was originally built as"Z-Force" at Marriott's Great America near Chicago in 1985. I rode it there for the first tme during a senior HS field trip. Gave you a headache back then too. It looks like it was never even repainted even in the last pics of it. It was a very unique coaster, and it had a really cool "uphll" corkscrew turn at the end that really planted you in the seat. RIP, Z-Force/Flashback.

  • You Recorded This In 1996?

  • @pkonnoobs My friend Andrew (Anton) Marshall recorded this in 1996 !

  • @psyclonesteve Damn.

  • @pkonnoobs Why ?

  • @psyclonesteve Because, It Was So Longe Ago. And On An Old Roller Coaster In 1996, Surprising For You To Find The Clip.

  • @pkonnoobs Yeah you are right, I have loads of old video's of roller coaster and it certainly is a job, finding the interesting ones, transfering them to DVD and then formatting them for YouTube but as long as people like you are enjoying watching them it makes it all worth while ! :-)

  • it's funny how the video messes up when there are g forces

  • i don't understand how this ride got passed the drawing board.

  • Why did they take it down?

  • @DefLeppardBrad Because it hadn't run for years, and it was really REALLY painful.

  • looks like a coaster that you would see in your dreams. you know, like almost imposible

  • Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter

  • Firstly, where was this ride located in the park? Secondly, why did that get rid of this ride

  • @TGChinappi

It was located near the entrace of the park, not to far from the ticket admission boths. Don't know the reason why they got rid of it, was a pretty fun rollercoaster to be honest.

  • I think your camera had a bit of trouble handling the z-forces.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed ite ride. I never rode it without getting a headache. It was a prototype - and there was a reason no others were built. I hate to say it, but no loss as far as I am concerned.

  • this is nothin. try the coney island cyclone its 83 years old and still shakin

  • I used to love this ride. I lived in Sylmar, CA, just a few miles away from Valencia and would go to Magic Mountain at least twice a month and a couple of times a week even after work in the summertime. this ride was super fun. i don't remember banging my head but i do remember it was rough and wild. i miss the old days. i was pretty skinny in those days and i think you had to be to get on this. i wouldn't be able to get on now. lol.

  • @mondovila you and me both ! lol.

  • @psyclonesteve

I have a question, do you remember the name of the rollercoaster that was there before Flashback replaced it?

  • @MrJuly1990ish was it Shockwave ?

  • @psyclonesteve

I researched it was called Mountain Express, that open in 1973, Flashback replaced it in the early 90's. Shockwave was MM first stand-up coaster that open in 1986 and Psyclone replaced that one in 1991. Now they're all defunct, lol!! Thanks anyway.

  • @MrJuly1990ish

Yes, there was Mountain Express and Sarajevo Bobsleds but I thought it was Shockwave that stood on the same sight as Flashback, I stand corrected !. I knew it wasn't Psyclone because I actually rode that while Flashback was in the Park, in fact when I was going to call myself Cyclonesteve somebody already had it as a user name so I decided to pick Psyclonesteve named after Psyclone :-) .

  • @MrJuly1990ish poor psyclone :(

  • @mondovila what ride is it

  • @mondovila I'm form Sylmar as well :D I do miss this ride quite a bit though.

  • The first B&M coaster! they designed this while they were working for Intamin. its always cool to see there earlier coasters

  • The ride is closed in 2003

  • when was this filmed?

  • @riddick0846 1996 !

  • @psyclonesteve now i feel like an idiot. i looked at the title... o well :B

  • I heard this ride gave people neck injury's!!!! :(

  • I visited Magic Mountain twice and both times the coaster was standing but not operating so I couldn't say from experience, but I must say it looks pretty aggresive. I will ask my friend Anton who filmed it when I see him !
