I just learned of Major Dick Winters' death maybe five minutes ago and i always knew that i'd get teary-eyed. We all watched "Band of Brothers" and i guess we all felt the same about this man: he was a great, extremely competent leader and yet, a very, very humble man. Gentlemen like him should be idols for other people. I'm sure he was a great person although i never met him personally. R.I.P. and CUR-RA-HEEEE!!! From Germany

Just finished reading his memoir, he is the most deserving of a medal of honor, why it escaped him is mind boggling, he will always be my hero and a role model to me. I wish i had got to talk to him as me being some what of a historian/collector myself. If you haven't read his memoirs read them, and you'll really realize like i did what these men and men of other wars went through, it is eye opening. Godspeed Major Winters

After watching "band of brothers", i bought his biography. Dick Winters was a strong, good person. i'm sure that the young soldiers respected him for his fairness. he was a real "brother"! i wished that modern managers and leaders would work with the strategy of Dick Winters: a combination of competence, emotional intelligence and heart!

I agree with what your saying but its not the country who glorifies them, its just the uneducated idiots. Many people including myself have a massive ammount of respect for all the soldiers who fought in both World Wars for their country.

Although it is a shame that 'High profile' people such as Jusin Bieber and others get so much money/recognition when there's men who risked their lives for their countries in some cases twice! and dont have the money to pay for simple things such as heating
