is a back to front forehand much faster than a side to side forehand> cus i have a side to side forehand and my balls have alot of top and side spin on then but lack the speed to put real pressure. it just kicks up high and hopefully creates problems for some people (especially if they are short or use an eastern grip)
side to side.. which is really called a open stance is more of a defence shot,
and back to front.. which is really call closed stance is more of a offence shot, notice in the video.
the movement of the racqeut with the closed stance has a longer period of time and distance traveling forward than it did with the open stance. there fore the ball will have less spin and more pop/be flatter/ more pace than a open stance, in general there are exceptions
back to front is simply a close position when hitting the forehand. CLosed as in you turn 90 degrees(this gives more power because you generate more torque) It's best to do a quarter turn if you're facing fast paced balls.(turn only part way). If you want to increase speed, hit a flatter ball, which you can do by changing your follow through or by using a flatter grip.
Great video, and I love the guy's voice. He has that compelling "professor" voice, which makes you want to listen, and he has the substance to back it up.
