In Nirvana he was pretty much overshadowed by Kurt Cobain when it came to star status, and the Foo Fighters were never anywhere near as popular and mythic as Nirvana was (and became). Sure, he's a really well known guy, but he's not the kind of guy you'd see next to Paris Hilton or Taylor Lautner in a celebrity magazine, if you know what I mean...
