I grew up in the '70s and had a tiny black am radio I would cling to late at night listening to old time radio... fell in love particularly with fibber mcgee and molly :)
This is an assembly of sides from the multi-disc Fibber McGee & Molly 78 RPM set "On The Night Before Christmas" (Capitol CC20) which became one of the label's very first album releases in 1945.
It's difficult to explain to people today, in this era when TV shows only do 7 or 8 fresh episodes a year, how "Fibber McGee and Molly" did 39 shows every year for more than 20 years. They invented the modern-day sitcom. I would to have met them. They made an incredible contribution to this country and were the biggest cheerleaders for the country during World War Two, devoting most of their shows to messages about supporting the war. God bless Jim and Marian. Thanks for posting.
I was first introduced to Fibber McGee and Molly on a series from an old time radio series on cassette in the 1970s. I'm so pleased to find this treasure. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Fibber, Burns and Allen, Gildersleeve, My Friend Irma, Our Miss Brooks, Harris and Faye...and the list goes on....awesome radio. Better than todays TV...by far.
I used to listen to this on my parents old '78s

Ah, yes...I remember this well. Listened to them on our RCA Victor radio when I was a kid. Who remembers when he opened his hall closet door?
