  • That laugh is so creepy. Obvious signs of insanity there. Anyway, Keaton and Pfeifer should really do more movies together. Great on-screen chemistry.

  • This scene is brilliant and beautiful and for anybody who says that Burton's Batman films are style over substance

  • I'm still waiting for Tony Montana to spoil the party:"Elviiiiiiiii!"

  • plez plez plez i need the name of the sound track starting in 0:49

  • @alexbatman the name of the song is called Face to Face - Siouxsie and the Banshees

  • isnt the background music in this scene rick james' superfreak?

  • great chemistry between these 2, Anne hathway and Bale will never be as good. I think it is stupid they are putting catwomen in Dark knight rises. lmao

  • Is it just me, but is The Dark Knight Rises heavily influenced by this movie? Snowing in Gotham, Selina Kyle whispering threats into Bruce Wayne's ear...

  • Michelle Pfeiffer looks beautiful in this movie when i was a kid i feel in love with her ...o what a fuck i'm still ........

  • love this pair

  • "omgosh does this mean we have to start fighting?"

    kekekekeke i love that line

  • Can't touch this! lol

  • Amazing, leave it to Tim Burton makes such an amaing scene. You have to read between the lines in this movies.

  • I love how you can kind of see Michelle molding Selina and Catwoman into one. Here you can see her switching between their personalities really quickly.

  • that laugh of michelles at 3:03.... shes really going off the deep end there

  • Gosh i love his voice :D

  • Michael Keaton looks like Dirk Koetter

  • she almost got that madonna look and bruce wayne instead of batman he's dress as james bond

  • This movie also introduced me to Christopher Walken and how cool he can be... as SHRECK, as the dude in the SLEEPY HOLLOW,

  • @psychogemini I cldnt have said it better! I think it's at 0:23/0:24 when they figure it out and everything in the scene just comes together beautifully! I've always said that this scene was ahead of its time (which I think is why they're recreating it in DKR) but still acted out in perfection...miss both these actors.

  • @DrTony978 yeah i just hope talia doesn't interfere with them

  • Michelle Pfeiffer is one of the most beautiful actresses of all time. You cannot disagree with this statement after watching this scene. Oh... and she's a pretty damn amazing actress also.

  • They will be recreating this scene in TDKR

  • Siouxsie and The Banshees theme...j'adore! best Batman film ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • Michelle Pfeiffer's demonic laugh on full display!

  • Let me just say Christian and Anne have a HELL of a lot to live up to after seeing this again. The chemistry, the setting, the music, all perfect. Selina's laugh is wonderfully mad and Keaton's Bruce has that suave demeanor that Christian lacked. Upon hearing the instrumental for Superfreak in the beginning, all I can say is "I'm Bruce Wayne, btich!"

  • Michelle made this role so special...look at 2:23 and tell me that smile doesn't freak you out beautifully!

  • what the hell are they playing rick james in a batman movie?!!!

  • I'm Rick James, Bitch

  • luv dis scene

  • i love that gun, i want it

  • oh god this was 1992...soo far away now....Keaton and Pfeiffer simply great in this scene, that was great movie))) Soon we will see how Bale and Hathaway will handle that...

  • it took 20 years but I finaly got the big deal "fall throw" joke

  • You think this can last? There’s a storm coming, Mr. Wayne.... when it hits, you’re all going to wonder how you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us. LOL

  • God this is such a great scene: sensual, romantic, dramatic, revealing. Truly one of the best in this Batman franchise (well, the Burton Batman films that is)...I truly hope Bruce/Batman and Selina/Catwoman aren't just pure enemies in TDKR and that her character is just as complicated, sly, sexy, but also sympathetic. If Nolan has made her simply evil and nothing more, than he truly fails the character of Selina Kyle; there are so many dimensions to her.

  • @desireealicea countless dimensions between the bat and the cat a history that has lasted for over 71 years now :) nolan has respect for burton since he recreated this scene in tdkr i just hope their first date can top batman returns and they can be togeher this time

  • i love it that in the dark knight rises is also a Maxquerade Ball scene with selina and bruce :)

  • @vanzonhl yeah bruce and selina were made for eachother talia can never change that :)

  • whoa! at 1:18, is that Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick?

  • Thanks for the upload have been searching for this for ages

  • @av7470 - My pleasure. A wonderful scene from an equally wonderful movie.

  • Michelle Pfeifer is the only actor from the the Burton/Schumacher series that would have been awesome in Nolan's Dark Knight series. I could still see her playing this role in The Dark Knight Rises. She couldn't though. Too weird playing the same character twice in two different movie universes, but she was great in the 90s as Catwoman and would still be awesome today. Hathaway has her work cut out for her, because Michelle owned this role.

  • Michelle Pfeiffer is so, so good

  • Best part of the whole movie.

  • beautful scene. keaton is so slick and cool as wayne, fucvk bale and his doucey smugness.

  • The great scene! I wonder how many people felt deja vu after TDKR trailer ???))))))

  • in the dark knight returns trailer, nolan kinda recreated this.costume ball, batman and catwoman without costumes while everyone had theirs.hmmmm nolan is a fan boy after all

  • @RAMSES777100 you mean of bruce and selina together? yeah it would seem like it and who wouldnt be its like they were made for eachother :) its nice that he supports them just as much as i do

  • Helena Kyle is the result of this union such a bad ass hero, I wish Birds of Prey wasn't canceled after season 1 such a truly awesome show.

  • @EternalDarkness316 yeah screw damian bruce and selina had a history before talia was even a thought bubble there the same just split right down the center its to bad bruce and talia are canon

  • @soraandven Yeah, I enjoyed the story line between them a lot more than Talia and Bruce, it was like they were already in the middle of this heated romance when we first met Talia it was already like they had a thing, and I could swear that they never showed they knew each other before the first time we saw them. I hope if they ever do that in the movies with the next series of Batman, if they do Talia at least explain the chemistry

  • @EternalDarkness316 yeah i know i was like ok where's the development bruce kicked selina to the curb to be with her what about the promise in the golden ages bob kane would be ashamed

  • @soraandven I think it's funny because he couldn't be with Selina because she was "evil" so to speak, what was so different with Talia? She was along the same lines as Selina in a way. I don't get it.

  • @EternalDarkness316 yeah but bruce just can' keep away from his favorite cat lol

  • I FREAKIN LOVE the fact that, at a costume party, Bruce and Selina show up as Bruce and Selina - BECAUSE THOSE *ARE* THE COSTUMES. Batman and Catwoman are who they really are underneath! :D

  • @dlweiss yeah bruce and selina were made for eachother i know damian belongs to talia but bruce and selina have good chemistry :)

  • @dlweiss i had never seen it like that. :)

  • I hope Ann and Christian have this good chemistry like Michelle and Michael. u almost believed they wanted each other. I sure hope it's believable as this version, one of the best scenes.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the "yawn".

  • I love this scene, the chemistry between Keaton and Pfeifer was sizzling. I like the symbolism of neither batman or catwoman wearing masks at a masquerade party. And I like how we see Selina Kyle teetering on the edge, getting more and more unstable, it's so dark and twisted, I love it!

  • @Ladiesman1447 Actually, they both are wearing masks here:)

  • Michelle Pfeiffer looks gorgeous here.

  • Comment removed

  • made for each other

  • @gymrachel yeah they are the same just split

  • I love how she say "Does this mean we have to start fighting?" at the end :)

  • @intheTea04 thank you! I googled both instrumentals of the songs, and they both sound very similar, to both each other and the song playing, and I wondered if maybe the two mixed together would be more alike to the song playing? I don't know, just a thought.

  • Does anyone know the name of the first song playing? The jazz-ish one before MAx approaches him?

  • @ladygagarox03 Sounds like an instrumental version of MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This" although I believe it makes use of part of a song called "Super Freak".

  • @intheTea04 Rick james super freak

  • @ladygagarox03 it's a jazz version of Superfreak by Rick James.

  • @ladygagarox03 Na verdade essa música que tá tocando é a versão em jazz do " Rap do ovo" de Sergio Mallandro. Foi extraido dai ou vice-versa.

  • That's a bad ass dress she's got on

  • I love the hint of Batman theme at 2:55 *listen closely*

  • Sorry people, but this is just far superior to any character interaction in Nolans films.

It's scenes like this were bruce and his love interest have incredible chemistry which is so sorely lacking in the new films

  • @rrrevan

Any thoughts on the animated series?

  • @Johnlindsey289

Yes - A truly brilliant piece of art. While some episodes were certainly better than others, the writing was generally superb.

The animated series as a perfect example of writers challenging their audience at a young age with a cartoon with substance.

  • @rrrevan

i was 11 when i saw this movie in theaters and watched the animated show religiously since i saw the sneek preview episode that august in that year and even taped every episode. It was quite adult for a near prime time animated show that even adults and teens can enjoy, my mom and bigger brother enjoyed it as well since he loves the comics of DC/Marvel.

  • @rrrevan that's because his love interest in begins and the dark knight wasn't really anyone of consequence i don't think (i mean in terms of the batman mythology) + there has always been this tension between batman and catwoman which may get revived in the dark knight rises...although anne hathaway is really gonna have to be a lot less perky and lot more morally grey than we've really seen her be before to get it right

  • @rrrevan yeah its just to bad damian wayne is talia's child

  • @rrrevan selina and talia wukk both be in rises so bruce will have to decide who to be with im hoping its selina

  • @rrrevan Romantically, maybe. But the Bruce/Alfred character relationship in Begins is stellar, and Bruce is a far more complex and engaging character, generally, in Nolan's films. TDK went away from that somewhat, so I'm hoping TDKR, especially with Selina's involvement, brings it full circle.

  • @aecbandit talia can't compare to selina though lol

  • @rrrevan that's a really good point. their relationship is electric, it gives me butterflies haha

  • @reegstasaurus yeah i was really glad they put selina in arkham city i laughed when he was holding her tight and she said you expecting a kiss? i just hope they put her in the next game

  • I love when she pulls out the gun and the score matches the music, but gives it this twisted, foreboding sound to it as she talks about killing Max. Wonderful

  • It's a shame Burton didn't make a third batman without Keaton & Michelle Pfeiffer.

  • This makes me sad. Because I know we won't get a scene like this from Nolan. And because Michelle IS Selina Kyle and Keaton was a Bruce Wayne that I actually cared about. He wasn't a total douce! I'm bored of the gritty realism of Nolan and want my fantastical otherworldly vision that Burton gave us. I want Gotham, not Chicago!

  • michelles acting in this is absolutely superb.

  • All the world falls away and we only are their connection.

  • What made Keaton a good Bruce Wayne?

  • @tharealYonas28 I believe in his kindness. He met the role as Batman, does it very well, . As Bruce, his kindness, his intellectualism, his even-mindedness. But he is not all knowing. But proceeds with a cautiousness. Keaton is my top Batman. Bateman follows. And the animated creation of the 90's (vies with Keaton easily).

  • @MonarC87

    Kevin Conroy you mean

  • honestly my FAVOURITE scene from ANY batman movie is this one. I've watched it like hundreds of times. I love it.

and I have one word for michelle pfeiffer... DA-Fucking-YUM. DAYUM.

  • this has to be one of my favorite scenes from this movie :)

  • When I saw this scene in the movie I started crying lol it was Jst so beautiful the music the moment! :')

  • Man I didn't understand this scene when I was little but man its deep. They both realize who they really are. "Does this mean we have to fight?" Thats deep.....burton is a genius.

  • i've loved this movie ever since i saw it when i was 7. i never fully understood the scope of emotions in the movie until i was older -- just a really awesome movie with great characters and great perspective. i love this scene.

  • after seeing this, i really dunno how Anne Hathaway is supposed to fill-in or outdo michelle's shoes in the upcoming batman 3 as selina kyle...huh.

  • The song is by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Its called Face to Face.

  • beautiful

  • explosion at 3:55

  • i love this part of the movie

  • Michelle Pfieffer is gorgeous, simply sextacular, God I love her. And a Siouxie and the Banshees song is a perfect soundtrack to Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne. And even though I'm a straight man, I gotta admit Michael Keaton is lookin' sexy in this movie too.

  • "Actually, semi-hard I'd say...", lol!

  • Pfeiffer plays this so well. She makes an amazing Catwoman full of emotion and a strong feminine persona. Captivating and this scene is my fave in the whole movie <3

  • @Nosirrah151 Ah! It is my favorite scene too!

  • Beautiful scene .... Michael Keaton & Michelle Pfeiifer were amazing here.

  • Michelle Pfeiffer is not only beautiful, she's got the throaty voice to go with it. No wonder Batman has such hard times with her...

  • does anyone know the song played after he talks to shrek and see catwoman walk down. the stairs?

  • @Gouki6669 - Siouxsie and the Banshees - Face to Face.

  • @intheTea04 Great fucking song, too!!!!

  • @Gouki6669 siouxsie and the banshees, Face to Face. It's on the soundtrack as well. The lyrics are very appropriate for them as well.

And supposedly that's Tim Burton dressed as the red death, standing in front of Selina when she comes down the stairs.

  • @Gouki6669 As others have said it's Face to Face by Siouxsie and the Banshees. The full version of it is on the Batman Returns soundtrack. It's also at the end of the credits for the movie

  • Love this scene.

  • max shreck's hat has a triangle with an eye in it!!???? im just saying!!

  • This is perfection! The greatest scene in all Batman movies. Michelle Pfeiffer's performance in it is pure magic!

  • Some people say that the first Batman was brilliant, it was to be sure, but I think the sequel was even more so because of the relationship between Bruce and Selina and the Bat and the Cat. The Penquin parts gave the movie scope, the Catwoman gave the movie taste, and the Batman was there to give it merit.

  • @pspboy7 - The problem was that many people complained that Batman Returns was too dark in terms of tone and content. Now call me simple but when the posters are showing an incredibly attractive woman in skin-tight vinyl, what the bloody hell do these people expect? This outrage was mostly coming from parents who took their little kiddies to see the movie. As such, WB set about diluting - IMO - the winning formula of the first 2 Burton movies and we end up with Batman Forever.

  • @intheTea04 and whats HILARIOUS to me now is that we now have a trilogy of batman movies where the second was just as dark as this. I wish tim would put out another one, if not live action than at least an animated one.

  • @pspboy7

This was the last good live-action Batman movie before we got Begins

  • Aw man, batman's such a party pooper. Everyone comes in a mask and does he? No. =P I hate people who go to fancy dress and don't even bother.

  • @SplatterInker The funny thing is that they are both wearing masks in a sense. Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle are the masks, while Batman and Catwoman are the true personalities. This became the case when Bruce lost his parents and Selina was killed by Shreck. At least, that's what I believe.

  • I truly forgot Keaton was a batman. :O

    Memories :)

  • I love the music that plays during the scene when they dance and this is a great scene as well.

  • One of my favorite scenes ! Love Michael Keaton! I wish he would do more movies! Awesome actor. Also he was so handsome in the batman films:)

  • The best scene in this awesome movie *-*

Batman Returns and The Dark Knight are my favorite Batman movies.<3

  • No actress well ever achieve what Michelle Pfeiffer did for Catwoman! Her performance in this movie, along with Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, and Keaton make this my favorite movie and Batman movie. Anne Hatheway's Catwoman will be just as bad as Halle I'm sure.

  • @nicoleee1980 no she is a brill actress i am sure she will do a good job, who wuda thought heath would b so good he'd win an oscar? but michelle is outstanding so i don't think she'll be as good or better, but who knows?

  • @nicoleee1980

What do you think of Andrienne Barbeau as the voice of Selina/Catwoman in the animated show? did you watched that?

  • 0:16 Mona Lisa :D

  • "I am the light of this city - and I am its mean, twisted soul."

  • I love Max's little speech.

  • I love this film! Totally crazy and completely different from Christopher Nolan's Batman, but equally brilliant.

  • Im mad tht chris nolan made anne hathaway catwoman >:(

  • @mrzedwardcullen190 You don't honestly believe she'll top Michelle do you? Anne's a wonderfully talented actress, but Michelle breathed a whole new life into the character of Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Knowing Nolan's style all too well, he won't really do something new with the character, just make her a typical Gotham girl with a dark secret hidden in her closet with an infatuation for Batman; nothing new.

  • @TheInstantClassic1 stranger things have happend - heath oscar winner

  • @TheInstantClassic1

i dont think anyone can top michelle as catowman

  • @mrzedwardcullen190 Why are you mad? I think she'll be good. Remember, a lot of people were mad when Tim Burton cast Michael Keaton as Batman, and yet he turned out to be great.

  • @TimsVideos17 noone thought any1 could play the joker like jack nicholson, and heath was so good he won an oscar! but for me jack is the best coz he was more comedic as opposed 2 heaths darker version

  • I love Christopher Nolan's version of Batman, but I don't know how he's gonna be able to top this scene.

  • @KezoZydis he wont, tim burton is a genius and the best

  • Damn she's so beautiful

  • @brazilianscumbag - Yeah she is, isn't she? Amazing features across the board.

  • Gotta love the "oh, shit!" look on Bruce's face at 2:41.

  • Seriously, who the hell has a costume party in the winter on Christmas!? Costume Parties are more for in the fall and around Halloween!!

  • @Death0000 apparently someone said "f*ck tradition".

  • @Death0000 Nope, they happen at new years too, and whenever someone wants to

  • batman and catwoman wearing regular clothes at a masquerade party, clever. this movie would've been a damn good batman movie without the crazy penguin stuff

  • @gc3k - A regular Penguin (the club-owning gangster from the comics) would've been cool but I guess that was probably a bit similar to the Joker from the first Batman movie. Although I expect nothing less from the disturbed mind of Tim Burton and the type of Penguin he chose to feature in BR, lol.

  • @gc3k hahahah i know this scene is wickedly clever.

  • @gc3k For them, regular suits ARE costumes. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • this scene is brilliant.

  • Great scene, with the special song Face to Face... I do like both performances, Pfeiffer, Keaton... the truth been told between them about using masks, they cannot stand that... and finally the phrase of the mistle-toe, how lovely!!!! can be deadly, definitely!
