During one of the only, if only, speeches about peak oil in Congress, with virtually no one in attendance, the speaker is interrupted for procedure of a bill (HR 1540) detailing the expenditures for the military in 2012. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.
that was a popular lecture. i think there was about 3 people in the room, including mr bartlett.
its sad because that was an incredibly lucid examination of our predicament. the fact virtually nobody else in office understands, or more likely is in outright denial, means we are truly fucked
Smart guy. Or brave. It take an old politician to tell the hurtful truth, a young man with a political carer will not dare say something that nobody wants to hear.
@bratticusful and even worse, they have been the loudest and the most arrogant. This is the first time I have heard a republican presenting the facts in a non-partisan way. What a breath of fresh air.
less than 400 people (so far) are actually interested in the future of human kind, including me (unfortunately not including the government representatives). Call me a pesimist but i dont think its gonna be enough to make it. Dark ages here we comes!
PS: watch the film "Collapse" thats a brutal wake up call for anybody who think this is some kind of joke..
the view of the galley is prophetic, completely empty, no one is listing, I have lost all hope, Glenn Beck keeps telling people to buy presses metals like gold, I have invested in other metals like lead, brass, and powder, he can sit on that gold.
@nietzschevsgod You're right about this. I just got a haunting sensation from watching this video not because of the subject content but because the subject content is being treated as a non issue. Nobody in the galley seems to care, I wonder whether they will care when states start initating rolling blackouts?
Most creative society in the world? The US? Seriously? Not bloody likely...

At the moment we are like somebody who has just thrown themselves off a building. We are half way down to the ground and thinking "So far so good".
