@bigtomfrost coulee christian school in west salem. that's where the shooting scientist operates from. we shot this video there so he could use his nice camera and put the CGA banner up. this was originally one of the new videos that was gonna be part of a training package sold through his company. But then I backed out cuz that project wasn't moving anywhere and I was losing money
@jacksonvile12345678 the two exercises target different things. Front squats are supposed to improve squatting strength. (personally I don't use them. why not just back squat?) Overheads are really just focused on flexibility and core strength, since almost nobody can OH squat enough to really test their leg strength.
well done coach...whens the new squat vid coming? looking to replace back squats with front squats...is there a specific reason theyre not in the program? i heard theyre better for athletic improvement? do they train anterior chain rather than posterior?
@TheIrishspring84 I should get the squat vid done by next week. I'm not a big fan of front squats. If you're gonna squat, why are you gonna hold the bar in a way that makes you weaker? Most people can't even front squat enough to really challenge their leg strength. And if you want to be quad dominant, you can just do a quad dominant back squat style.
@TheIrishspring84 I think front squats got their popularity from olympic lifting. oly lifters have to front squat to finish the clean, so they have to be really good at it. since they're so strong and powerful other people got the idea that front squats should be used for training other athletes too. It's certainly not a bad exercise, but they have no advantage over back squats. In my opinion of course...
I have been doing stretches, but still can't do this. Is the activity it's self all you need to focus on, or are there stretches that help aid in this lift?
where are you at Back? that gym looks old school

Here is a good question for you, could you give a pro/con of overhead squat to front squats. What helps what more?

@jumptrainee1 how about reduced spinal compression? i noticed that my spine does not like it when i box squat and take longer pauses.
