It was a clean hit, there was no reason for Smid to come in and "fight" Avery, now if it was a dirty hit, yes, by all means protect your teammates, anyone would be stupid not to, but it was clean. And, haha, Smid dropped his gloves too, he was ready for the fight, he wasnt ready for Avery's fist going through his face, haha.

Avery never squares up and fights. David Clarkson rag dolls the guy all the time. One day Avery will clock him when he is not ready, because that is the only way a punk like Avery will fight Clarkson.

@RushandSNLfan Yeah, you're missing something. This is the MSG feed which left out the piece with Avery refusing to fight until Smid let his guard down and started to skate away. It's a classic Sean Avery move, and even his teammates have said it was a sucker punch. You stay classy Sean Avery.
