no, not for this event. The BradyGames Guide says the same thing, but Blood Ring doesn't require any Driving Skill.

How did the car get repaired at 5:35 if no cheats were used?

Driving through the Checkpoints (the red markers) repairs your vehicle. The same thing happens throughout the game. Here are other examples:

1) If your vehicle is on fire when you start a date with a girlfriend, the vehicle gets repaired slightly, and the fire goes out.

2) In the Vigilante Missions, for every level completed, the vehicle gets repaired slightly, and if it's on fire, then the fire itself will go out.

The same goes for Blood Ring. You couldn't survive a minute without it.

@CaptainJoeLewis I only do that mission if I'm going for 100% completion, so my advice to you is (if you're not going for 100% completion): FORGET IT! ;-)

I have a 512MB video card and a Sound Blaster sound card... plus I use Fraps to record my games... it records the sound without lag as long as I have both of those cards
