@glamoroustrash Yes as close as we seem to get is gaga and her whole ploy seems to the be over played for effect and fame at any cost,, no class no elegance.
Barbra might be the closest runner if she would come out in public,, but then I suppose Marlene locked her self away as well for what is probably very similar reasons.
@wendelina85 She was certaintly a very strong-willed woman, stubborn, opinionated, and perhaps even somewhat delusional. I think this is something that affects many who are in the public eye: Michael Jacksom and Gadaffi would have been prime examples of this. To be scrutinised or watched alters the behaviour of the human,,,,,,,the situation becomes no longer narural with the introduction of this scrutiny be it a camera or an audiance. I think often the two personas intermix.
@wendelina85 She had suffered a stroke that contorted her face. But she hid this by tying her facial muscles back with surgical needles and thread. Then hiding the whole thing under her wigs.
This is from "An Evening With Marlene" from 1972 in London. Notice Marlene is wearing one her famous nude dress's from her 1950s Vegas shows. And she still looked great here almost 20 yrs later..The DVD is out there of the whole concert if you can find it. Its well worth the money..
