They won't be able to though. They lost the rights to use the original designs for anything that doesn't fall into merchandising. They might have been able to work something out with BW to get the macross license, but not after HG sat on the macross name just to keep BW from releasing Macross outside of Japan.

In fact dude, if WB is planning on using original Macross designs the company will not be able to release worldwide even on US soil because the Berne Convention (both Japan and the US are members) protects Studio Nue/Big West moral rifghts at an INTERNATIONAL level. I don't know, but it would have to be some people that are fresh and new to acting, I really don't want any well branded name stars to play these roles. I feel that it would give the movie a weird out look if you have BIG name people playing the roles, these people will have to be the right age look, and feel of the people in the series. NEW faces would start them off well and grow with the fans more if these are people we really haven't seen before but act the roles very well.

They shouldnt have made Dragonball in the 1st place. Its ridiculous to even think that you can remake it into reality thats why it fail. DB evo was a failure from the beginning. But Macross has potential. Have you heard of Battlestar Galactica? In a sense its similar. It was successful and if they do this right it'll be a smash just like Transformers.

Sure, Gundam may be more contrived with the Newtype factor, but if wrote correctly, a live action movie would do the series justice. G-Savior was an abomination because mainly it didnt stay true to Gundam i dont really understand why they need to change it that much. Remaking Gundam into a live action blockbuster need is a true fan. Someone with passion for the Gundam franchise not just someone whose after for a quick buck. Another potential juggernaut is Evangelion. Now the guys whose working on that remake are real fans of the anime. Evangelion live action is something worth waiting for. I hope P. Jackson hop on that wagon.
