How did Tucker get "owned". Stewart (real name, what, Lobewitz or something?) Is a left-wing hack, and wanna be comedian (I did not think we was funny even before the Daily Show). He is not always wrong, and he has ever right to pick on the right-wingers, but Tucker didn't vote for Bush, and didn't support the War in Iraq and suddenly he is the "right wing" nut job poster boy?
@ScottMacFie The Daily Show is funny, and so was his standup. I think this interview made some good points. Specifically, giving left and right spin doesn't necessarily lead to the truth. Read "Politics and the English Language" by George Orwell. It's short and brilliant.
Action is always faster than reaction. Sure, Stewart looked like he was on top of these guys. He planned to attack, and the other guys were just reacting. He caught them off guard.

That Tucker guy should really relax a little bit. If Crossfire were that important, it would still be on tv. I like the fire in Stewart's eyes... too bad he doesn't have a book to publisize, because I'd like to see him hit the circuit again... funny shit for sure XD
Tucker didn't seem very prepared. One moment he's complaining about Stewart not being serious enough - once Steward gets serious Tucker gets pretty uncomfortable and complains about Stewart not being funny. Hard to hold a debate when you're simply reacting to what other say without thinking about the topic at hand.

The bottom lin is that Stewart is just as much of a "partisan hack" as these guys. I wonder how an interview with Bush would go. I doubt that it would be similar to the Keri interview. Yeah the show got cancelled, but giving both sides of an issue with, often times, valid arguments is more thoughtful to me than sarcasm, wit, and a sophomoric quip...
fym. The point is that the Cable Network News channel (CNN) should have a teensy bit more 'News' than COMEDY CENTRAL! for God's sake.
Just because you have a person 'from each side' doesn't mean it's 'balanced'. That just means you're giving as much time to the guy who's an idiot as you are to the guy who's brilliant.
All of the 'analysts' on the networks are now simply partisan shills. Three for one guy and three for the other... That's not balance. That's laziness.
Hasn't Tucker been cancelled? He got his just rewards. The vicious so-called "Right" attack dogs will get theirs in the end. From Savanarola to il Duce, to McCarthy, they all fall from their high horse eventually.

Stuart thinks the world is a joke. He tries to get serious topics and make fun of them, so people can laugh and relate to his jokes. Therefore saying, "Wow, that is so true, hahaha". And that's how John Stuart lures young people to become liberals. John has also his own political agenda; it's just that he's better at hiding it than others.
You may have some sort of magic power since u know what Jon Stuart is thinking, since u "know" "Stuart thinks the world is a joke". He his workin on comedy central in t name of god that is his job. Just listen to Jon during this vid he is exremely intelligent, and I doubt he believes every single thing in this word is a joke but humor can make u think more of certain issues than just sayin it. When you laugh you are thinking "why am I laughing" and the issue can be debated in more serious shows
It's admirable that you have the awareness to consider such a possibility (there are more than enough people who don't) but just because something is plausable, does not mean it's fact. They all have agendas, but I find him to be pretty genuine and his methods more of a way of connecting to a greater audience than the sinister workings of a sly, crooked man. You're entitled to your beliefs though.

all of you stewart disciples are guilty of what u accuse carlson of... stewart thru the convenient mask of comedy gets to spew his own biased bigtime. sure at times he skewers both sides, but his overwhelming tilt to go after the right is obvious. point was he did butt kiss kerry, b/c he loves his politics. his coy above it approach here was a cop out. fact is, his lib viciousness came out after he lost his cool & called carlson a d***. thats real stewart- smug punk.
This has very little to do with Stewart and everything to do with the hypocrisy prevalent in todays "unbiased" media.Stewart has no obligation to hide his bias. His show could be called the "Pinko,Gay,Abortionist Fun Land" and he still would not be held to the same standards of integrity other "serious" news outlets should be held.Carlson accuses him of being a suck up whilst Stewarts contention was that the show panders to politicians and their agendas.Calling Carlson a dick was justified.
aspetwhy, you are insane. did you hear the audience? they backed john stewart the whole time. tucker is a little panzy and i guarantee that after this episode the ratings probably dropped enough to cancel the show.
MSNBC JAN 15 2004-"Hardball" to "Hannity & Colmes," and even moving "Crossfire" to a live audience at George Washington University did little to stem its declining ratings. The show, which now averages 450,000 viewers, lost its luster when it was cut from 60 to 30 minutes and moved from its 7 p.m. slot to 4:30.

HAHAHAAHA! Jon Stewart, whom I normaly like, froze up on this show! He was like a deer in headlights..."ah please , please , please stop hurting america." He also contradicted himself ... paul and tucker made him look like an ass. Great stuff!!!

Yes...I'm sure they cancelled the show because a comedy talk show host from cable tv ask them to stop.... yes, makes a lot more sense than CNN axing it because of a consistant slump in ratings.
Where exactly are either of these fools now? and where is John Stewart? So unless you want to post ratings for the show I am not gonna buy at, at any rate it was the nail in the coffin for a piece of crap partisan circus show that was only entertaining to idiotic, narrow minded gits like yourself, so go tune in Rush or O'Reilly or any other right wing machine mouthpiece, with the mind of a bitter simpleton these moronic broadcasts are just what you need to reinforce your twisted views.
Watch from 12:40 on... Stewart "I don't think it's difficult, its just that they don't have their feet held to the fire. They get to come on shows like..."{deer in headlights look} Tucker " Shows like yours where you ask them easy questions like how are you holding up?" OWNED!!!!
he's a comedy show on COMEDY CENTRAL... THEY (TUCKER AND WHATEVER) are on CNN... theyre supposed to be a news channel... this should be very simple to understand
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Stewart benefits from a double standard: he critiques other news shows from the safe, removed position of his "mock news" desk. Comedy or not... it's political satire, it influences people, and makes a point. So Jon is fair game for criticism... and he got owned.
well whatever your twisted viewpoint is... that is not how I and the majority of people saw it... its a comedy, try to say this with me now... the obligation of a comedy show is to make people laugh... the obligation of a news show is to inform people of the news... you might have to look up the words in the dictionary or something because your viewpoint is certainly skewed...
its a news station vs a comedy station... yes cnn is a news station... and youve gotta be crazy if you call what they were doing a DEBATE... a debate would be nice
Definitions of debate * argue with one another; "We debated the question of abortion"; "John debated Mary" * consider: think about carefully; weigh; "They considered the possibility of a strike"; "Turn the proposal over in your mind" * argument: a discussion in which reasons are advanced for and against some proposition or proposal; "the argument over foreign aid goes on and on" * discuss the pros and cons of an issue * argue: have an argument about something
his point was that its not honest... im not plagiarizing anyone im simply stating the facts... anyway it doesnt matter how you want to twist it... its CNN vs COMEDY CENTRAL???? really? are you really trying to hold them to the same standards and obligations?
You are an absolute moron. Crossfire got CANCELLED after this, as a result of the verbal pwnage that Stewart handed to both fake hosts. Clearly his points went way over your simple head, CNN is designed by the politicians as is Fox News.
wow tucker and paul are fuckin stupid... they dont know how to listen worth shyt. and if they are gonna have jon on there show they should atleast let him finish a sentence without them interupting.
"You know what's funny? You're as big a dick on this show as you are on any show!" ... Tucker Carlson, the little bow-tied richie-rich kid from La Jolla, laughs lamely. Very hilarious.
Tucker just doesn't get that the Daily Show is a COMEDY show. He is not supposed to ask pointed, thought-provoking questions, and if they are using Comedy Central as the model of news integrity, then we are in trouble.
I hadn't seen the whole part of this show just the time he told Tucker he wears a bow. It's good to see Jon trash these people, they were such tools.
I actually don't think Jon argues as aggressively as he wants to - he does it in the form of beging them to stop - which is funny! - but he really wants to get into the detail about how the show is encoraging real debate and analysis and political scrutiny, like say Question Time. His job is to tell jokes, anything else is a bonus - he's doing his job, why can't they do theirs? (Sorry, I mean past tense. And Tucker's a cunt.)

Jon should stick to satire. I HATE the Bush administration and I'm a fan of Stewart and his point here is well taken but he still looks like a complete fool trying to lecture people who's political IQ far exceeds his own. If you think Jon "really gave it to Tucker" You are lacking in intellect. All Jon did was whine like a child. I'm embarrassed for him and for those of you who actually think he accomplished something here.
Jon destroyed crossfire. they have no idea. its like saying "hey, whoa. why aren't you being serious Robot Chicken." they couldn't make Jon look bad in any way from the moment Jon said his first word on this. this was the only crossfire i have ever been interested in.
And you clearly don't know a thing about Jon and what satire is. you can't do satire without knowing a LOT about politics and other social issues. when it comes to politics (and many other subjects) Jon is a genius. you'll notice the older guy got quieter and quieter, unlike junior bow tie who didn't know when to stop talking as he made crossfire look worse and worse.
tucker, unfortunately is still employed, and is still spewing his nonsense crap on tv...Jon hasn't mentioned him on his show in a long time, and I wish he would rip into that asshole occasionally, tucker is literally a goldmine of hypocrisy.

Tucker can be a turd but his overall conservative philosophy is correct. Conservatives are smarter than Liberals. They understand things that Liberals don't. They understand that 2000 years of history is enough to prove that Government does not solve problems and in fact creates them and yet today Liberals believe the answer to the world problems lies in Government intervention. This is a sign of stupidity.
I disagree. There are many smart persons that subscribe to a liberal philosophy of government as well as those who are conversative. Your judgement on governments in past 2000 years is bleak. Governments (our modern representative democracy) are active instruments for good. The regulation of commerce, public projects (rural electrification, highways, bridges, dams, internet, etc)been catalysts for economic growth and emergence of new markets. These tasks were accomplished where free markets failed.
Geore W. Bush barely passed a written apitude test with 25% percentile for the National Air Texas Guard.
Characterizing half the nation as being intellectually superior to the other is just mindnumbingly dumb. Besides, aren't most creationists conservatives? (BTW I'm not a democrat but if they are dumber at least they aren't quite as evil)
I don't think the issue is over the validity of either philosophy or tucker being a turd; I think the point of it is that these people are so concerned about scoring points that they don't allow themselves to ENGAGE in a real debate. They end up playing a sad game of dozens; deflecting, twisting, and misrepresenting. The last thing they leave room for is any kind of reasonable discourse. It's like watching bickering gradeshcoolers.
In your comment you noted your conclusions about the validity of two broad political philosophies, then insulted people who would disagree. Do you honestly expect any serious person to be swayed by what you wrote? Is that really how you want to represent yourself and your ideas? I'm sure you have more to offer than that. You made what a debater would call a 'polarizing statement'. Speaking as a conservative and based on your level of sophistication, I would not want you on the debate team.
Tucker is an idiot. I don't think Tucker has a sense of humor. Or if he does then its not very sophisticated... probably limited to knock-knock jokes and silly children's jokes involving puns and other play on words. Jackass. Jon was so funny... he kept having to remind Tucker that his show was comedy show on an all comedy channel... not real journalism. He just throws manipulative rhetoric at people in polarizing arguments.
Think about it, as Jon says---In this "democracy" we're forcing on others, the only candidates who feel or are "allowed to speak freely" are the ones "who know they can't win"!

Rocked, owned? How do you figure? He had some funny comments; Tucker was a little nervous not knowing Jon's game. Crossfire is not a bad show - they debate two sides of an issue. Tucker and the guests on Crossfire are very articulate and thorough. Watch crossfire before you comment on the show. tks
Yes, playing cruel and brutal games of semantics in an effort to further polarize a nation that is so devided that it's tearing apart homes, is a gooood thing. I see.

That Tucker guy should really relax a little bit. If Crossfire were that important, it would still be on tv. I like the fire in Stewart's eyes... too bad he doesn't have a book to publisize, because I'd like to see him hit the circuit again... funny shit for sure XD
AlemanJuan 3 years ago 2
Tucker didn't seem very prepared. One moment he's complaining about Stewart not being serious enough - once Steward gets serious Tucker gets pretty uncomfortable and complains about Stewart not being funny. Hard to hold a debate when you're simply reacting to what other say without thinking about the topic at hand.

Jon Stewart is so smart. They thought lets bring him on here, it'll be good, he'll be funny. But he totally owned them! He is really a witty guy.

The bottom lin is that Stewart is just as much of a "partisan hack" as these guys. I wonder how an interview with Bush would go. I doubt that it would be similar to the Keri interview. Yeah the show got cancelled, but giving both sides of an issue with, often times, valid arguments is more thoughtful to me than sarcasm, wit, and a sophomoric quip...
fym1972 3 years ago

Stuart thinks the world is a joke. He tries to get serious topics and make fun of them, so people can laugh and relate to his jokes. Therefore saying, "Wow, that is so true, hahaha". And that's how John Stuart lures young people to become liberals. John has also his own political agenda; it's just that he's better at hiding it than others.
riflekid44 3 years ago
You may have some sort of magic power since u know what Jon Stuart is thinking, since u "know" "Stuart thinks the world is a joke". He his workin on comedy central in t name of god that is his job. Just listen to Jon during this vid he is exremely intelligent, and I doubt he believes every single thing in this word is a joke but humor can make u think more of certain issues than just sayin it. When you laugh you are thinking "why am I laughing" and the issue can be debated in more serious shows
Baal1985 3 years ago
It's admirable that you have the awareness to consider such a possibility (there are more than enough people who don't) but just because something is plausable, does not mean it's fact. They all have agendas, but I find him to be pretty genuine and his methods more of a way of connecting to a greater audience than the sinister workings of a sly, crooked man. You're entitled to your beliefs though.

all of you stewart disciples are guilty of what u accuse carlson of... stewart thru the convenient mask of comedy gets to spew his own biased bigtime. sure at times he skewers both sides, but his overwhelming tilt to go after the right is obvious. point was he did butt kiss kerry, b/c he loves his politics. his coy above it approach here was a cop out. fact is, his lib viciousness came out after he lost his cool & called carlson a d***. thats real stewart- smug punk.
kelvinkloud 3 years ago
This has very little to do with Stewart and everything to do with the hypocrisy prevalent in todays "unbiased" media.Stewart has no obligation to hide his bias. His show could be called the "Pinko,Gay,Abortionist Fun Land" and he still would not be held to the same standards of integrity other "serious" news outlets should be held.Carlson accuses him of being a suck up whilst Stewarts contention was that the show panders to politicians and their agendas.Calling Carlson a dick was justified.

Stewart benefits from a double standard: he critiques other news shows from the safe, removed position of his "mock news" desk. Comedy or not... it's political satire, it influences people, and makes a point. So Jon is fair game for criticism... and he got owned.
aspetwhy 3 years ago
well whatever your twisted viewpoint is... that is not how I and the majority of people saw it... its a comedy, try to say this with me now... the obligation of a comedy show is to make people laugh... the obligation of a news show is to inform people of the news... you might have to look up the words in the dictionary or something because your viewpoint is certainly skewed...
allismind 3 years ago 3
LMAO Crossfire was a news show???????!!!!! It was a political debate show! ROFLMAO... You sipping on grandpa's cough syrup or what?

aspetwhy 3 years ago
Definitions of debate * argue with one another; "We debated the question of abortion"; "John debated Mary" * consider: think about carefully; weigh; "They considered the possibility of a strike"; "Turn the proposal over in your mind" * argument: a discussion in which reasons are advanced for and against some proposition or proposal; "the argument over foreign aid goes on and on" * discuss the pros and cons of an issue * argue: have an argument about something
aspetwhy 3 years ago

Watthiman 4 years ago

Characterizing half the nation as being intellectually superior to the other is just mindnumbingly dumb. Besides, aren't most creationists conservatives? (BTW I'm not a democrat but if they are dumber at least they aren't quite as evil)
pwr10 3 years ago 2
I don't think the issue is over the validity of either philosophy or tucker being a turd; I think the point of it is that these people are so concerned about scoring points that they don't allow themselves to ENGAGE in a real debate. They end up playing a sad game of dozens; deflecting, twisting, and misrepresenting. The last thing they leave room for is any kind of reasonable discourse. It's like watching bickering gradeshcoolers.
alumbo 3 years ago
In your comment you noted your conclusions about the validity of two broad political philosophies, then insulted people who would disagree. Do you honestly expect any serious person to be swayed by what you wrote? Is that really how you want to represent yourself and your ideas? I'm sure you have more to offer than that. You made what a debater would call a 'polarizing statement'. Speaking as a conservative and based on your level of sophistication, I would not want you on the debate team.

Right, because the George Bush administration is the epitome of the least amount of government intervention.
