  • simplified?

  • You know, it would almost look cool, if it wasn't for the frilly leg things...

  • haha looks like hes dancing

  • hi i am in shaolin for more than 3.5years

  • aww this video makes me miss u guys so much

its been a few years i presume lots of people have come and gone

i still have my red shirt and yellow sash!

  • the kung fu drum beat sounds awesome.

  • is this group still active?

  • @fatshit436 Yeah, although our trainer is overseas. The more experienced students are handling classes.

  • hmm im a new student at shaolin southern fist been in for 3 months now, what happened to older group of people ? Theres only really David

  • lol.

  • this is not hasty or sloppy, its lame to say that

very well executed - dont talk if you cant do

    better

  • in my view he went too fast doing form ..looks a bit sloppy and hasty .

I have no doubt , he knows his form , but i see lack of focus .

    nice job tho .

    keep it up !

  • thanks for the constructive comments, i no longer practice forms :)

  • too bad , since it looks good !

You plan to pick up training again ?

As for myself , i am planning to pick up Goju Kai karate soon :)

Always been into martial arts , its addictive :)

    Osu ,

  • Currently doing MMA in a small local gym. See how things go, hopefully have some tournaments going on. But my back stuffed up lately so yeah

  • im not going to lie to you i dont think you should of picked up mma what happen to the all the time spend on kung fu shit if you ask me mma is a sport when kung fu was made it was made to kill and it wased used in wars so there fore more usefull than mma plus mma dosent allow things like hapkido in it witch is gay but hey man if its what you whant your more than welcom to stray from the right path

  • All the time spent on kung fu helped me correct my structure for punching and kicking, and showed me how to generate power more efficiently and definitely he basic essentials for sparring/fighting. So i definitely havent wasted my time in kung fu and hasnt gone to waste, timing, structure, speed, distance, power, tactics, spirit, accuracy, all i brought from my kung fu experience into mma. What i dont like is the excessive time i've spent on the forms/katas and the lack of realistic sparring.

  • Even if kung fu was made for killing. How often are you gonna kill someone? It aint much point to learn the skill really. I can easily detain/control someone with my grappling or knock em up adequately to protect myself. But is that all i want in my martial arts life?! What happen to having some fun?! MMA is a great sport, and i reckon it allows you to show real martial art spirit by competing to the best of your ability and compete with other people whom is just as dedicated!

  • Competing and sparring is the best tool any martial artist can have! The best way to improve when you think your basics is established. The funny thing is. The mma gym i train at has kung fu lesson on the alternate days, so theres a huge mixture of different disciplines at our mma classes, people from TKD, kung fu (chow gar, wing chun, me!), muay thai, and everyone spars with what they learnt/ know. There is NO MMA style, its what you bring to the sport. Its a chance for you to show WHO YOU ARE!

  • What do you have in hapkido thats not allowed in the ring?! Groin kicks and eye jabs? I mean if you really only rely on those techniques then thats pretty shabby martial arts. Heaps of people bring their stuff effectively into the ring. Lyoto Machida bringing his family's shotokan karate, cung le bringing san shou to the world. If your techniques are good enough i dont see much restrictions at all! Its about experiencing and exchanging from different styles THATS HOW WE IMPROVE!

  • If your martial arts is good enough nothing can stop you! You can change the world! Look at the gracie family bringing their art of grappling to the world! Not only did they do that they showed how grappling is another part of fighting that cant be ignored! Now people train greco wrestling, submission grappling, sambo as well! The sport cant stop you from showing your skills, its about how much you put into it and how much you want it! Hope you read into some bruce lee books n see for yourself.

  • @traphiccc You have some Chow Gar guys? cool. Do they use their Chow Gar style in the ring, or do they revert to a more western boxing style as most people do?

  • @developyourqi - chow gar has punches just like boxing does, i dont see the difference sides changing/adapting dramatic kung fu moves to more efficient/ effective movements in the ring. You should understand that real combat doesnt look like forms. i.e. you would not expect a person doing sei ping ma with arms apart etc. stances will be shorter, punches/ hand techniques will be quicker and more basic. so a reply to ur question. We just use what we have at sparring/ring.

  • @developyourqi keep in mind that every martial art isnt meant 4

the ring as u call it there are some that are meant as life or death situtaions

take krav maga or ninjustsu they werte strait up made for killing triditionally chinese arts were used by monks in time of war as only self defence

  • Alot of kung fu guys are this silly. The best aren't.

  • Haha

  • Is that you and if it is whch school are you from?

  • good focus great form 套路

  • woops accidently removed ur comment.

From rlam86: What about the posture of the head? Should it be facing down, diagnol, straight or anyhow we want?

My reply: I am not too sure. But personally i think that the head should follow the focus of the technique,i.e tiger claw you focus on the claw, hence your eyes follow the hand and hence your head follows the hand. If you'd like to reword or make clear your question i can be more specific. Sorry i'm no expert in tiger and crane, only a few months

  • good focus. Nice!

  • cool trousers

  • hey friend good form.

  • Nice bro !!!

  • Thank you!

  • Very fluent moves! Typical Hung-ga style! I enjoy watching your performance. Your stance is great, so is your hands movement.

Show us an unabridged version of Tiger-Crane fist form some time!

  • Wow, i just met a sifu who also trained tiger krane. he showed me kata that was exactly like this ( only much longer :P ). But this style is really intense so it's quite normal you having hard time breath.

  • i like =)

.. but i can still beat u any day =D

  • this Hung Gar style?

  • yep. but as you can see i stuffed up a lil and didnt manage to finish cuz i ran outta breath.

  • I hear not constricting your breath is key to many hung ga forms.

  • Yep! That goes for all kung fu styles, but yes i have yet to work on that. And hey! it was a long day of lion dancing... ok no excuses i'll work on it hahaha

  • even breathing normally i still have a tendancy to tire myself out too fast even halfway through the full tiger and crane form.

  • very good form, however the practitioners body language seems to lack confidence

  • yep only learnt it in a few months before this performance. still dunno the whole thing yet. thanks for your comment

  • great tiger crane!

  • nice form !

    that gong sounds kinda farmiliar..

    forgot where from though.

You got any vid of your team lion dancing?

  • thanks heaps! i'm not too familiar with lion dance/ forms drumming so i cant help you there hehe sorry. I'll be posting the lion dancing soon. As soon as i get off my lazy butt and edit the vids. hehehe thanks for your comment!

  • traphiccc, if ur going to post lion dance clip, pls play the traditional black lion behind u in this clip. That lion is getting rare these days. Now I play only modern lion cute looking type. How do I post vid on utube? Is camera phone 3GPS format acceptable?

  • hmmm yeah phone formart should work. I think. Otherwise you can google a converter. (sorry i'm not too good with computers). Make an account and press upload. and follow instructions. You should be fine! . and yep. as soon as chinese new year events die down i will post more clips up. thanks heaps!

  • Good, i'll try after new year. Got to post stuffs on cars & martial arts. Now need to get a nice camera. Thanks for d advice. Gong Xi Fatt Chai, Gung Hee Fatt Chai, Gung Hey Fatt Choy. Happy Chinese New Year

  • Good Hung Ga!

But Im not sure if wearing pink brings out the essence of the tiger and crane :)

  • HAHAHA LOL! its suppose to be red, but yeah cheap freaking shirts fade easy! hehehe thanks for your comment!
