  • Oh ok, it confused me because of the zero, I thought it was another property. thank you so much for your fast reply!

  • @Igsr0909 Zero can cause all sorts of problems... especially to my Bank Account!

  • Oh or is it the inverse property of addition?

  • @Igsr0909 It would be, if it were written as: 2x + (–2x) = 0.

  • Hi, thank you for the video! But can this be an associative property, eventhought it has an =0x at the end? (2x+ -2x)=(2+ -2)x= Ox?

  • @Igsr0909 Actually, you typed an example of the Distributive Property. To use the Associative Property, there needs to be at least 3 terms on one side of an equation.

  • i love your lessons.. =) it helps me refresh what ive learned before =)

  • I just want to thank you for your videos. I myself haven't played or exercised with algebra for like ten years and was worried that I forgot how to write it, but thanks to you and your videos I'm totally refreshed and more confident in my algebraic writing :)

  • @CHARLIE1NABLE Good to know! More videos are on the way... in HD!

  • I've watched quite a few math videos on youtube and I have to say you have been the most helpful.

  • @jasonhylnd001 Glad to know! More videos are on the way!

  • Question about Closure Property.

    HOw about 5-3=2

In this case real number 5 less real number 3 is real number 2. Is this valid? You mean Closed when in all cases the result is the same with the variable you add or multiply, whether they are natural or real?

  • @0125319 The real numbers is a closed system. For other types of numbers, it need to work for all cases to be closed.

  • HI SIR LUIS! 36:00 - 36:17 -- here's the example in quiz 10: 2 - ab you said that the commutative property doesn't apply to subtraction such as this. but sir, i guess, we could also swap them into: -ab + 2 cuz i tried it and it gave me the same answer. and here's what i did: 2 - ab 2- (1)(2) 2-2 =0 -ab + 2 -(1)(2) + 2 -2 + 2 =0 so i think that's also applicable :) anyway, i'm gonna finish your whole course cuz your vids were really informative. ;D thank you.
  • @dizzytrizzy07 You swapped the terms as if they were being added. If you have 2 - ab and did a "correct" swap, to see if subtraction is commutative, you should use: ab - 2. Also, try to use values that are different when you do a substitution. 2 - 2 swapped is still 2 - 2, so that is not a good example. Try a = 3 and b = 4.

  • @videomathtutor okay. thanks sir ;) muchas gracias y feliz año nuevo! :))

  • You are the bomb! I have went trough many of these lectures on youtube and you explain things directly and to the point which for me makes absorbing this information a great deal easier for me. Thank you so much for helping us all! :D

  • I can say one word ..Great ..nothing else ..U dont know How much u r helping me ..thanks a lot ...

  • Keep posting the help on youtube. Thank you so very much!

  • Im a homeschooled student and i watch your lesson as kinda my math class, so it really helps! thanks....p.s. love your comedy

  • wow, you're probably the only person with helpful vids on youtube... anyways thanks, this is really helpful cause immediately after i finished high school i started LOVING math.

  • @maggot616cro Glad to know I can help!

  • i like your way how to explaining math thanks teacher :)

  • @Ado0o0o1st You are welcome. By the way, I am a tutor, not a teacher.

  • Dear Mr. Ast,

While I have been studying for the GRE, I have been searching for a comprehensive list of basic properties of numbers to get a grasp of math fundamentals. Thank you for your hard work and lucid explanations.

  • as nonnative english speaker, i thank for your useful videos

you teach me a lot a lot of mathematics words.

    keep going

i will become a tutor like you now

    hihihihihi

  • Thank you so much. I am teaching an intervention on this for my SpEd students and was looking for another way to present it...here is my answer!!!

  • Your a great teacher... thankz 4 helpin me wit my hw

  • thank you that was very helpful I sort of forgot about all of this and now i remember.

  • You're awesome!

  • good video covering the properties of numbers!!

  • I am having problems with transitive relations on set and I cannot fine many examples. Is it possible for you to provide some material which explains it in simple way with many examples?

  • I won't be doing videos on Set Theory for quite sometime. I am doing the algebra ones now.

  • that makes no sense . ah!!!!!!

  • What makes no sense? Please be specific.

  • wow learn things twice cant hurt anyone right?

  • Good Job!

  • What I found most intresting about this video was right at around the 6 min. mark. When you said the when two numbers are next to each other that multiplication is implied. That's the stuff I have really been strugeling with. Thanks so much for posting the videos.

  • Well, it is not usually just NUMBERS that are next to each other, but rather variables or numbers WITH variables.

  • Which school do you work on sry im not amercian

  • I don't work for any school. I am an independent, private mathematics tutor.

  • You're an amazing teacher!!!!
