thai fighting (mauy thai) and brazilian juijitsu are good when you put the together but
juijitsu by itself sucks. karate and mauy thai go well together karate kicks can be used in any situation especialy the roundhouse. in mauy thai they have a round house but in mauy thai they will teach you knees and elbows. if you put your leg behind there leg and elbow them in the chest not only is it a good trip but you might have winded them aswell
don't get out of the house with this lol.. and the way to make a punch, is utterly wrong, your thumb shouldn't extend over the middle finger because your wrist is going to break. Should stay on top of the fist or towards the middle finger without actually getting that far down.
ive study many styles Was out of town for a job and found a jeet kune do school. These guys are for real learned alot in one yeaar.Returned home to add it to my hsing i
@ChilledBrah- Sit ups are extremely bad for your lower back. This has been common knowledge for at least 30 years now. It's now believed that crunches are not good for your back as well. There is now a completely different approach to giving strength to your abs and back. They are called core exercises. None of the exercises are bad for your back.
@To0DamAx Yeah but Chuck Norris is an internet meme that's why. It's just a joke that he is the most powerful being on the planet. He's great don't get me wrong but all the Chuck Norris jokes are because of the meme.
@ selinah3 I agree with you. Not only are these original Lee students the video is from Lee's book. Although JKD must evolve over time .. this will give you a good foundation in understanding Lee's fighting concepts.
This is the best instructional video on jkd training.I have it and highly recommend to anyone intrested in learning the original method of Bruce lee's fighting. My hat goes off too both sifus very well executed.Simple, basic, and direct.Bruce Lee would be well pleased..Take care and God bless...
I took wing chun for 5 years and love it but for street fight it dosent work. JKD is a lil better but if you really want to defend yourself take Muay Thai and basic wrestling or bjj. This is more then enough. I'm a bouncer at a club and the moves I learned from years of training in Lee style do sent wrk. Nobody is going to wait on you to kick there ass. There gonna charge over power and take you down with brute force.
So, is Wing Chun better overall? I know that JKD kind of came from Wing Chun, but I want to use it more for fighting, and less for defense.
Also, I want something that's based on both hands, and feet, instead of just one, or the other. Could Wing Chun provide that? Or do you know what can?
@x0myheart0x Jee Kun Do would be your best bet since it takes elements from many different arts and rolls them into 1 art. If your looking for something that uses both hands and feet and is more offensive Id recommend muay thai
@ theFoxfeather. A 15 year old girl is best learning a few effective moves from a Self Defense type course or class. They teach basis strikes and defenses against common street attacks. If she wants to study a martial art any traditional Karate or Kung Fu system is a great base to start from..
@TheFoxfeather Hello Foxfeather, I think that the best martial art for a 15 year old girl would be Wing Tsun. This fighting style was developed by a woman and concentrated on direct attacks and counter attacks, which rely more on technique than on physical strength.
@TheFoxfeather You're most welcome. Wing Tzun (also known as Wing Chun) is an art that will develop you as a person as well as a fighter. Hopefully you will never have to use it to defend yourself, but you are a person every minute of every day - so it helps to be a good one.
@TheFoxfeather jkd is great... but if i was you i would practice kali... the hand techniques are incredibly effective and make you very very fast, also, in this art, every hand technique shifts over the same with weaponds so basically it is the same principle.. tip of advise though, dont trust whichever dojo you find, most are crap.... find a no bs instructor.. others will teach you stuf that looks nice but dosnt work
I have been many videos , anyways didnt bruce lee say he wishes jeet kune do didnt have a name and he also mention something about havng no technique .
to also further this notion did he also say to take what is useful to you ?
why do we forget bruce lee only suggested that a certain stance was a good starting point. nothing is written in stone, it's whatever best fits the fighter. wheter it's orthodox stance or unorthodox stance doesn't make a diffrence, once the fight starts its all about survival , no more , no less. for me iv'e boiled it all down to blount force trauma , hit first , hit hard , and get the hell out. lol simply
He stood in the right stance, but his arm (fist) was below his chin, that's not correct. The left hand must be 10 cm away from the body/head, while the right fist must be above the chin. His knees must be a bit omitted and the legs should be a bit closer to each other. It's the JKD's defensive stance. I would with pleasure go for sparring with 'em. I wonder, are those guys instructors?
i,ve never heard of Bruce using the jap art of aikido but in game of death he did fight a guy mixed artist Ji Han-Jae of Hapkido(karate and aikido) prob where you got this from.As ive been a student of j.k.d. for 10 years and never even been asked to learn that form as i don't need too.In j.kd. you learn what you can do best ,then focus on it ,I am a great wing chun trapper to western punch then in fight knee to middle section .Its my jeet kune do no one elses
@soapy75uk You should learn ALL types of martial arts, not just what you are good at. It will give you information on how to improve your own personal style, as well as defend against that style of fighting. If you really understood the concept of JKD, you would know this already.
most Jeet Kune Do practioneers don't sum up being nearly as skilled and powerful as Bruce Lee did because they didn't go through the harsh training Lee had to endure during his days learning Wing Tsun, Aikido, Boxing and many other great martial arts.
@JackCaoArt well Jack, Bruce Lee wasn't half as deadly as he was when he left Hong Kong to America with only his wing chun. lets not forget, Bruce also did boxing and hong quan in hong kong. he later got his leg techniques from Karate and Taekwondo. and if you look at the difference between Wing Chun and Jeet Kun Do. you will notice that their footwork is very much different. this is what I can offer. I apologize if I made any wrong comments.
@JoshuaHo93 Jun Fan Gung Fu aka Bruce Lee's JKD is a synthesis of Wing Chun, Boxing, and Fencing. He incorporated the combat theories from those systems and developed his own "style". So he uses boxing and fencing footwork instead of WC footwork because it lacks mobility. Remember JKD isn't a style its a philsophy of combat.
@papertiger7 Yeah mate, you are right on the difference thing. JKD has simplest possible footwork to remain technical in a fight, remember Master Lee developed it for REALITY , not like fancy crap in kung fu. And you may also know this simplicity in JKD has inspired the whole MMA.
i remember doing most of this when i was 15! its funny cuz before reading his manuals my punching and breathing wasn't correct.. unfortunately i dont see much jkd mook yan jong out there
@jtschau lol. you must be from the future. these techniques are still used by professional boxers and kickboxers including Muay Thai and K-1 fighters =).
@TheDeenmMusic medicine balls help greatly. if you do sit ups and have someone drop the medicine ball on your abs, right when it hits you do a sit up and one-two punch left to right and repeat. or you can have two people stand back to back and hand off a medicine ball from side to side and then say "switch", switch sides and repeat =)
Japanese jujitsu sucks by itself but hopefully you are not talking about bjj cause the graces will prove you wrong
