  • @TheZoelzer2 usually its nerves, when you seperate the head the nerves are still active. it takes a long time for them to calm down, but it is usually dead.

  • @josedlt1000 i think he just hit some nerve endings that made the fish twitch a bit. most of my catfish die while taking them home. (even if i put them in a cooler of water for some reason) so chances are our fishy friend passed on before this horrid task of preparing something tasty

  • This is a really bad representation of filleting a catfish. Catfish is a succulent, delicate fish, why the fuck did you just rip the skin off like that along with wrenching the head off? God damn dude! There's a much easier way to fillet a fish. -.-

  • Man that sure is the hard way of cleaning a catfish. It should take no longer than 2 minutes to fillet that fish and that is if you are slow, use an electric fillet knife and eat fish the same day you catch them

  • i usually just cut down the back bone and cut the sides out avoiding the guts, then use a good sharp knife and cut the meat from the skin.. and toss the rest.. lol

  • Thanks for the video. Wife caught 1 ten and 1 twelve pounder today and tried to clean them. Yep, me caught some small "eyeball" Mudcats, hers all big Channel cats--and yes, my wife knows how to talk Smack!!--LOL. Don't think I'll take her again! Anyway, I did get some nice fillets, but was rusty and could have got more meat from the fish. A super sharp fillet knife is a sure plus...and I couldn't find my old one. Do need some of those skinning pliers, they look nice to use.

  • Good vid.That's basically the way I used do it except I used pliers,but have used the skinners before and will say they do hold the skin better.Nowadays I cheat and do most of my cats up to about 7 lbs or so with electric knife.A couple of tips 4 you fisherman though if you cut the tail off about 20 to 30 mins before cleaning they will bleed out making meat taste better.Also freeze them in water with salt in it.Great job.

  • You are twisting the entire meat while getting the head off.. Forgive me but I should say this is the wrong way. Not only that, washing and soaking the meat with pure water will alter the taste of the fish meat. Try to consider lemon-salt-water solution to clean the meat fish.

  • not to say your method is wrong but we usually get an axe chopped the head of get the meat off the skin and clean but nice video and nice music.

  • Best way to get fishy taste out of meat is after washing put meat in pan of water & add tablespoon of table salt to water & let soak over night then freeze them as you normally would or fry them up, That was a nice size cat you had there.

  • @Bowtechdestroyer350 alot of bigger fish are usually skinned before eating them unless you're in the wild and don't really have the time or the tools to properly skin them. you CAN eat the skin, but like he said "choice" meats are skinless and it's the best way to eat a big fish
