I had been at Rivazza stands that year.. I remember how everyone are very sad about his back position and how noone noticed that he's get ready for his scramble after the last pitstop.... That day he almost made it,only Alonso block him,but after that he get his revenge on the same track some years later.
This is his best race in the 2005 even though he didn't win. He was driving 2 SECONDS faster than everyone else per lap when others were in the pits. Fought up the 2nd place and challenged Alonso and almost won it.

@astra606 JB 9 wins since 2006, MSC 0 podium appearances since his return to F1. Schumacher won his titles because of a superior car. If Villeneuve/Coulthard/Diniz were driving the Ferrari 2000-2004, they would've won too.

That's 3 out of 7 WDCs where Schumi didn't have the best car. In '97 (though DQed), '98, and "06, he was in an inferior car yet he had a chance of winning the WDC.. In the last decade, other than Schumi , perhaps only Kimi won the WDC in an inferior car. All others (Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso and Button) had the best car. Lastly, 91>10.

Ferrari was was slower during qualifying on 1st half of the season while it was the fastest race car on 2nd half. Eventually Schumi won because of Häkkinen's misfortune.
03 Ferrari was clearly the best car winning half of all the races and Schumi winning 6 races compared to Montoya who won only 2. MSC's inconsistent driving kept championship close.

In '03, the GA couldn't outpower the Williams BMW. If Ferrari had the best car in those years, why didn't Rubens beat the likes of DC and Montoya? Clearly that was the case of Schumi transcending the car, as he almost always does during his prime.

A season is not 7 races long, the championship doesn't only take the first 7 races into account, that is not what matters, what matters is that he was still able to consistently score points when he didn't have the best car. @astra606 We'll have to agree to disagree. I did see in another comment that you admitted Button had been good this year, so me saying you were 'blinded by hate for Button' was inaccurate. But I still feel Button had proved himself as a great driver before 2009. His 2004 season was amazing, he got so many podiums but couldn't beat the faster Ferraris. His closest race to a win was Monaco, with the Ferrari's out of the picture, but he was unable to pass Trulli in the closing laps.

And the way he went to McLaren as the world champion at the end of 2009 is totally comprehensible. If I would be in this situation, I would do the same. And the last season was the best JB we ever saw IMO. Hamilton lost his advantage over him. I think it will be a really interesting season in 2012 (I hope so)

I had been at Rivazza stands that year.. I remember how everyone are very sad about his back position and how noone noticed that he's get ready for his scramble after the last pitstop.... @Haluzon Schumacher only really had a clear car advantage in three seasons - 2001, 2002 and 2004.
In the Benetton and early Ferrari days, Schumacher had to drag inadequate machinery into race-winning or championship challenging positions, which absolutely proves that he was a great driver.
Schumacher moulded the Ferrari team around him to ensure that they could start winning after 21 years of no titles, and the hard work he put in to develop the best car deserves a certain level of respect.

@Haluzon In 2005, Schumacher hadn't the best car. Best cars in 2005 were Renault and Mclaren. In that year Ferrari won one race in USA only (with only 6 cars on the track). Moreover in 2000 and in 2003 Schumacher won the title for few points from the second. Only in 2002 and 2004 Ferrari dominated the championship with many victories.

Button and BGP/MGP were never more such lucky at that time. But, it's true that Schumacher didn't came up on podium since he came back. And it's also true that Button won the last race rightly cuz he really was the fastest man. He really impressed me. Maybe his career is just starting now. Will he change to Ferrari?

@MacGovernor As somebody already pointed out, Schumi didn't have the best car in 2000 and 2003. Add 1994 to that where Williams was superior to Benetton. That's 3 out of 7 WDCs where Schumi didn't have the best car. In '97 (though DQed), '98, and "06, he was in an inferior car yet he had a chance of winning the WDC.. In the last decade, other than Schumi , perhaps only Kimi won the WDC in an inferior car. All others (Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso and Button) had the best car. Lastly, 91>10.

@gmdimaano What are ya talking about? In 2000 Schumacher took 9 wins & 9 poles and could afford 4 retirements which 2 of them because own mistake. Ferrari was was slower during qualifying on 1st half of the season while it was the fastest race car on 2nd half. Eventually Schumi won because of Häkkinen's misfortune.
03 Ferrari was clearly the best car winning half of all the races and Schumi winning 6 races compared to Montoya who won only 2. MSC's inconsistent driving kept championship close.

In '03, the GA couldn't outpower the Williams BMW. If Ferrari had the best car in those years, why didn't Rubens beat the likes of DC and Montoya? Clearly that was the case of Schumi transcending the car, as he almost always does during his prime.
