I haven't played this version before. But my brother and I played the heck out of the nes version back in the day. If you check out my kick on one of my videos you can tell. ^_^
Never played the arcade version but I do remember, that's the first stage theme from the NES port. :D It's a surprise to hear it with Yamaha FM instruments.
How can you attack in more than one direction? I just played the game a second ago and was able to move in any direction, but only able to attack upwards.
That's because the arcade game utilized a rotating joystick to turn your characters around for attacking in different directions. You'll need to map the rotation to a few buttons on your keyboard.
hmmm...the arcade joystick actually rotated like a knob. I'm not sure a standard joystick would work. if you have a controller you could probably map the left/right rotation to the shoulder buttons I assume? Unfortunately this is one of those arcade games that works specifically w/a unique set of controls....I'm guessing that's why there really wasn't a true port of the game :(
fortunately, there is a romset known as ikari3nr which uses 8 way joysticks instead of rotary joysticks. of course, in order to play this version, you gotta have the parent rom on mame (ikari3)
@chibangin007 the way I get it to work is with a wired 360 controller and map the movement to the left analog, the roatation to the right , fire to right trigger, jump to A and grenade to left trigger (unarmed fire = punch and grenade= kick. you can also fake a tatsumke spin kick (ala street fighter) by jumping, kicking, and spining the rotate stick at the same time)

Apparently the U.S.A. was so broke, they couldn't afford to supply Ralf and Clark with guns, so they put all their hopes in their boxing skills.
