  • Didn't need no "Patriot Act" neither y'all...

  • Lots of really stupid fucking people posting comments on this video. We'll all find out who soon enough...

  • Social Security is an inter-generational pyramid (ponzi) scheme that is now slowly collapsing. Not only is it unconstitutional but it is a BAD DEAL. Any mathmatician or finance wizard can explain why it is a rip off. And for black men it is an especially bad deal. The typical black male does not live long enough to get back what they pay in. But Hollywood will never tell the truth about that.

  • @jscottupton that's just a lot of lies. We both know it. But you tell 'em anyway, because that's just who you are I suppose.

  • just let the vermouth blow a kiss at the gin...

  • They should remake this film with Sarah Palin as the lead role.

  • @Raford146 More like Barry Soetoro and his sycophants in the leftist media who did NO research on him and got him elected!

  • @drewby7777 You shitasses get so desperate when the truth is shown, don't you.

  • FBN = Fox Broadcasting Network

  • Hollywood Whores

  • it's elia kazan's a face in the crowd, not budd schulberg. he's the actor in the clip.

  • @truenotion Yeah, Oprah Winfrey is the media figure with all the influence over followers and politicians. The news media went gaga over her campaigning and fund-raising for the election.

  • I love it when Liberals and children (pretty much the same really) think they have it all figured out. Keep on swallowing what this administration, and Gov't schools spoonfeed you. No real need to use your own mind and do some research of your own. And don't forget to wash that swallop down with some of that refreshing Koolaid!

  • /watch?v=CfViPLPZsnY

  • Glenn Beck isn't the problem, it's the fools that believe in him.

  • In 1957, Liberal forces used this movie to mock citizens that listened to conservative influences. Now that the US is on the verge of bankruptcy due to unintended consequences of socialist programs, listen to it until the end the see if it wasn't unintendedly prophetic.

  • @dukeofpuke Your reading of our nations' bankruptcy is mistaken. The Replugs have continually bankrupted our country. Reagan and Bush 43 did the job. Tax cuts for the fifthy rich don't work, puke duke.

  • Conservative arguments about taxes and spending always seem to boil down to poor people are getting too much money, and rich people don't have enough, etc. People are rich because they are better (i.e. "rugged individualism"), and people are poor because they are lazy. Therefore, helping the poor is hurting the poor. This outlook completely overlooks the truth that most better off people wouldn't be where they are without someone else's help.

  • @profjunk It all boils down to personal choices. We all have the same opportunities in public school. How we choose to study, work, and play, is our own choice. Frankly, I don't think that I should have to pay for single mothers who spread thier legs at the age of 16. I work hard for my pay and I should get to choose how I spend it, without government interference.

  • @acfinney

Are you serious? Do you really think our schools give kids the same opportunities? Do you realize there are private schools and suburban schools that make most urban schools look like they are operating in a completely different country?

And do you think teenage girl have to face this responsibility alone when the father isn't helping? And what about the baby? You'd condemn a baby to a life of poverty because her mother made a mistake?

    Think about it.

  • @profjunk My public school friends are for the most part, successful. The ones I know are. Another thing, why should I have to pay taxes for public school, when I have no kids attending? The "poor teenage girl" had no problem facing her sex aloan, knowing that he isn't going to stay with her anyway. In my school, we had one pregnant girl and she left the school in shame. Bottom line, THEY ARE NOT MY DAMNED PROBLEM!!! I followed the rules my parents laid down. Liberals are the vermin of the US

  • @acfinney

So when the child who isn't your problem grows up to become a criminal and costs the state more to incarcerate him than it would have to educate him, will it still not be your problem? And if the crime he commits to become incarcerated is against you, will it be your problem then?

The reason society has a responsibility to take care of children is because an uneducated populace is going to create bigger problems than the inconvenience of you having to pay taxes.

  • @acfinney An educated populace benefits EVERYONE, by producing tax-paying, productive adults, whether you have "kids in school" or not. Why is that so difficult a concept to understand? They may not "be your damned problem" but if left uneducated they will become "become your damn problem" one way or the other at some point. Pay for education now, or pay for more prisons in the future.

  • @SRV4evr You are under the assumption that every punk in school is willing to be educated. Education cannot be forced on kids who have no grasp of such matters. People commit crimes because it is easier than working. You make me sick with these childish platitudes. One way to eliminate over-crowded prisons, is to Gas violent Murderers and rapist. You give the government your money. I'll keep mine just the same. If you have a child, it's your job to teach him right from wrong. Case closed.

  • Better Lonesome Rhodes than Bill O'Reilly.

  • Glenn Beck The Movie.

  • @AndroidPolitician you wish - is that you Soros?

  • @nutbagbrew102

What's with the right's obsession with Soros? The guy funded groups to bring down the Soviet Union and gives billions to Africa, shouldn't conservatives love him?

What's scarier are the Koch Brothers, who start groups like Americans for Prosperity specifically to destroy oil regulation and help their company. Oh yeah they also host billionaire get-togethers on how to invest in doing this.

  • @AndroidPolitician once you learn that Soros is out for Soros then you'll find out why i dont care for this dude alright- i want my freedom in america not in Soros game plan - if you love him then fine - idont want this guy f**king with my freedoms ya dig-

  • @nutbagbrew102

He's out to give billions to Africa, what a bad person. If you like your freedom to not breath polluted air, you should be more worried about the Koch brothers.

In fact, name one way Soros is out to "get your freedom".

  • @AndroidPolitician he wants to be the king

  • @AndroidPolitician Seven months since you asked. I don't think you'll be getting an answer on that one.

  • @nutbagbrew102 show how your freedoms were 'fucked with' at all, let alone by this Soros. You won't. There isn't anything there.

  • @AndroidPolitician: LOL!!!!!!

  • A Face in the Crowd. is one of the best movies ever made. Andy Griffith should have at least earned an oscar nomination for that classic.

  • And as for everyone saying this is Glen Beck and getting their panties all in a bunch. If he offends you so much...turn him off. The last time I checked this is still the USA and what he says, right or wrong, is protected under the First Amendment.

  • yeh, yr' right, but hes a fraud , a shukster, phonier than a 3 dollar bill,.

  • Holy Cow, is everyone off the mark. The movie was made in the late 50's. Bud Schulberg wrote it as a satire about the coming of age of television as a political medium and the cult of personality. There are some movie historians that state that the character Lonesome Rhodes is modeled after Arthur Godfrey; a very popular, but manipulative man and his public fall from grace.

  • I watched this movie years ago on TMC and thought it was great. Then recently certain commentators reminded me of it.

    Great movie regardless.

  • What a strong cast--Andy Griffith, Patricia Neal, Walter Matthau, even Lee Remick in a small role. Kazan knew how to bring out the best in them.

  • Let me be the first to compliment your intelligent political discourse. Next time I disagree with someone, that's what I'll call them---a white cracker. Speaking of bigotry.

  • i agree! except replace "smarmy black politician" with "psychotic woman from alaska who wants to charge women money for them to catch their rapists"

    peace out you creepy dude

  • Frightening and awesome how well this film holds up. That's art in my book, great writing, directing and acting that's built to last. If you're interested in persuasion, propaganda and manipulation of the mob I recommend a documentary called Century of the Self by Adam Curtis. It was in google videos and on archivedotorg the last time I checked.

  • This film had its parodies: It parodied Arthur Godfrey and his talk show (the putting down of Luffler mattresses by Andy Griffith), and the mobbing of Andy by the majorettes evoked images of another Southern man, Elvis Presley, being mobbed by women.

  • The fictional Sen. Worthington Fuller's remarks about Social Security and the American ideal of self-sufficiency and rugged individualism are very topical given the time frame. In the 1950s, many conservative members of Congress were keen on rolling back or eliminating the social programs that had started under FDR's administration.

  • (Continued from previous post)

As a moderate Republican, President Eisenhower positioned himself between that reactionary contingent and the liberal Democrats who wanted to expand public assistance into a cradle-to-grave welfare state. The issue continues today with the ongoing debate about health care and other essential services. Are they truly "rights" -- and who should pay for them?

  • @scotpens

Yes, let's have full welfare benefits for every man, woman, and child. Isn't that what socialism is all about?

But wait, who will do the work to provide the goods and services?

    That's easy. THE OTHER GUY.

  • @Reasonjester : Note that I wasn't giving an opinion one way or the other on the issue of welfare and public services; I was simply placing this film in its historical context.

  • @Reasonjester Actually in the speed for greed that is capitalism all the work is being done in China and India, what does America produce anymore?

  • @storm8259 consumers of foreign made goods.

  • @storm8259 Fucking Lazy People thats what we produce now -

  • @scotpens

It seems like conservatives are keen on rolling back social programs now more than ever.

  • @scotpens Just as topical now: SocSec is on the chopping block, along with Medicare/Medicaid.

  • One of the greatest films of it's time and eerily prophetic were today's trends in the libotomy box are concerned.

  • Is that Rush Limbaugh???

  • Glenn Beck!

  • Barack Hussein

  • Even better - it's MICHAEL MOORE!

  • This is an excellent visionary film because it speaks volumes about how television manipulates and exploits people. It also shows how it can distort the truth and make even the most innocent of situations appear like propaganda. This doesn't get shown on TV too much these days. Maybe that's because we already see what's happening on FOX News.

  • Or CNN or MSNBC or NBC, CBS and ABC

  • AMEN!

  • Very underrated indeed--and update this 50 years and you could well have a documentary about today's politicians!

I had relatives who lived in Piggott, Arkansas, where much of the early scenes were shot, in 1956; Patricia Neal (Marcia) appeared in Piggott recently to celebrate the film's 50th anniversary!

  • very underated film, because of its content it is rarely shown on tv, at the time this film was as powerful as they come
