People fail to realize the personal level, 27 years in the army I can tell you that if a young gay male who has been in basic for a few months, is taking a shower with 10 non gay males and the gay male gets and erection he will probably get beat to death! what if you are deployed on a tank crew for 12 months and 1 or 2 of the 4 members are gay. Almost all gay people I have ever observed has something else mentally or emotionally wrong with them. Laws should minimize conflicts not increase them

I thought that truth and morality are RELATIVE to the individual. The only way to resolve conflicts involving "rights" or "morality" is through a referendum. There are enough contradictions in the Bible that the document is fundamentally flawed. If the Bible is fundamentally flawed, then it must have come from man, not God. SoA, here's another question. I am a bisexual, but spent my youth preparing for the Catholic priesthood (which, obviously, won't work out now). I have read the Bible cover to cover, and pray on a daily basis. I have yet to feel anything from the Lord except love, mercy, and acceptance. God supported me when I was questioning my orientation, and it's God in whom I trust to accept me for who I am--a bisexual man.

People fail to realize the personal level, 27 years in the army I can tell you that if a young gay male who has been in basic for a few months, is taking a shower with 10 non gay males and the gay male gets and erection he will probably get beat to death! what if you are deployed on a tank crew for 12 months and 1 or 2 of the 4 members are gay. Almost all gay people I have ever observed has something else mentally or emotionally wrong with them. Laws should minimize conflicts not increase them

You misunderstand what I am saying. Queers mysteriously disappearing off the side of the ship WHILE IT IS AT SEA...as in, getting pushed over the side. Happens often in the Navy, especially on big decks - but more so in the 80's before hollywood and the media began its all out campaign to program into our heads that 'gay is okay'. I thought that truth and morality are RELATIVE to the individual. The only way to resolve conflicts involving "rights" or "morality" is through a referendum. It seems that in certain States, the gays are in a minority and they just don't like it. Too bad. That's the price of moral relativism in a democracy. Beware the Pink Hand.

I can't even believe that this was a policy to begin with. I understood that homosexuality in the army was probably looked ill upon many years ago, but it's like to know why this hadn't been lifted at least at the beginning of the century.

Learn what God YHVH has to say about the military camp in Deuteronomy ch 23. Start reading at V 9...He does not allow homosexuality in the military, and franknly He does not allow homosexuality at all PERIOD.

SonOfAsaph, I am fully aware of what Deuteronomy says. But that's the thing--it's what DEUTERONOMY (and therefore Moses) says, not what God says. Aside from Moses saying "don't do it", what is actually sinful about about homosexuality? Sexuality is a gift of God. We are born LGBT, just as you were born heterosexual. This is how God made us. This is how He wants us to use this gift.
God is there for everyone, both gay and straight.

I embrace my sins, I attacked my sister's ex with a fire place poker because he was being abusive to her, broke his arm, broke them up. A few months later her lost love came back from Germany, ect. If im gona burn for all eternity I do so willingly, we all know whats right and wrong but for us to dwell on old dogmas without considering the situations or conditions is to just promote inflexibility. I have no problem with gays in the military but I agree they need to keep it to themselves.

God does not hate anyone. We're all sinful, but God is infinitely merciful...that's the point of the Abrahamic faiths. There are enough contradictions in the Bible that the document is fundamentally flawed. If the Bible is fundamentally flawed, then it must have come from man, not God. There's a lot in the Bible that's extremely messed up.
For example, Leviticus 25: 44-46 condones slavery. Obviously, slavery is a great evil, and never something a loving God would condone.

SoA, I think you're the one who needs to go back and take a second look at the scriptures. Jacob and Esau, in this context, are not real people. Jacob represents the nation of Israel, and Esau represents the pagans surrounding them. That verse is a piece of political propaganda, nothing more.
Please address all of my arguments, as opposed to just the first sentence. Can you answer for the MANY contradictions in the Bible, and its condoning terrible evils like slavery?

SoA, here's another question. I am a bisexual, but spent my youth preparing for the Catholic priesthood (which, obviously, won't work out now). I have read the Bible cover to cover, and pray on a daily basis. I have yet to feel anything from the Lord except love, mercy, and acceptance. God supported me when I was questioning my orientation, and it's God in whom I trust to accept me for who I am--a bisexual man.
I talk to God all the time, and He hasn't mentioned hating me yet. Thoughts?

As for contradictions, there are many. Look at the "don't kill" commandment, then read Leviticus 20:9-10, as well as Isaiah 13:15-18 and Exodus 35:2.
As for the Bible not condoning slavery, how do you justify Lev. 25:44-46 and Ephesians 6:5?
What does Esau have to do with Russia? Russia has a huge Jewish population.
The Bible is a beautiful thing, but should not be taken in its entirety.

we study from an English translation, but there are now many study tools geared to the KJV that bring the scriptures back to their original languages.

I am Danish. In may of 1945 we were liberated by the desert rats, the 7th armoured division of the brit army.
They had defeated Rommel and chesed him all the way from el Alamein to Tunesia. They had invaded Sicily and Italy, participated in the D-day, advanced to the Rhine and ended up in our part of Europe. For that we shall remain forever grateful.
Oh - and their general, Montgomery, would not have been able to serve in todays US army.
