Such a beautiful brother with much compassion for justice and equality for anyone that are or were a victim of any form of injustice....POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!
Starting from 1:44 the bias begins. Notice they point out everything "UN-American". They note the adoration of Che, the evils of capitalism to portray him as anti-American. There is a difference between anti-American and anti-American government.
I have the utmost respect for George Jackson, because unlike some brothers of today he did not allow incarceration, physical restraints, or racial inequality to deter him from developing himself physically & intellectually. He utilized those negative circumstances to report on the perpetual injustice that lower class colored people were frequently exposed to in prison. He did so honestly, eloquently, and courageously. He was what it means to be a man.
duh i'm pretty sure he didnt want to die the way he did. he just wanted people to know who the are and what they could be. besides blacks were not the only ones who used guns and spoke of revolutions. our country was really being turned up side down. the war drugs and riots. just saying in case you forgot.
@79Yonkers7Resident George Jackson did not fight racism with racism. If you've read Soledad Brother then you overlooked the numerous times George speaks of dissuading fellow brothers from adopting racist tendencies/behaviors. As for the violence, this is something we of our generation may not (although we should) understand, but when people like George were witnessing the murder of their people firsthand, and saw the opposing side taking no losses, of course that bred contempt and indignation.
1.George was not a racist. Read Soledad Brother. 2.You cannot limit George Jackson to being a criminal. George was an articulate, eloquent, leftist intellectual. He read voraciously, studied laboriously, and educated himself, and disciplined himself. These achievements resulted in two published books, one published posthumously. There are many "non criminals" who've achieved far less.
in the beginning of the book jackson let it be known that he ain't painting no picture of himself like a angel. let us keep it real jackson book soledad brother is a book about a man trying to explain to his family the transformation he is going through and trying to teach them and show them the bullshit they tolerate. taht is what the book is about not about martydom or trying to make yourself seem like a hero.
@ramzeze3 Agreed. George never referred to himself as an angel, although he did believe he was a victim as do I. Any man who can get an indeterminate sentence of life over $70 in the same land where Emmett Till's murderers walked free, was done a huge injustice. Then for that man to be kept in jail for ten years, I mean hey. They kind of built the dragon in George.
Eric Cummins is a fuckin liar. In fact all of the white people in this program are liars. They act like George Jackson was some kind of prison monster. He was in fact a victim of this so-called justice system. This system is not made for us it is against us. It doesn't protect "minorities" at all. In fact, it is a way of legal genocide. a way to destroy black people in particular.
is she serious about those glasses

Fuck that it was $70 it was still a crime.
I do believe that life was excessive.
PS: NOONE holds ME (minority). I would never put these criminals, who fight racism with more racism/violence, on pedestals.
I cant and I wont.

He was not a martyr?
1 year to life in prison over $70?
Let's not lose sight of that injustice, b/c all of this could have been avoided.
2700SKIDOO 2 years ago 17
@2700SKIDOO Definitely. Such an indeterminate and unwarranted sentence. I say citing his prior convictions, he could've been given 5 years maximum.
